Day 17 Update

Yesterday (Day 17) the Reservoir was filled with 20 Ltrs of water/nutrient feed and turned on.

Using my normal nutrient range (Ferro), with a few additions.

The nutrient mix was made up to a Ph of 5.8 and a EC of 1.7 with the following:-

Ferro Growth A + B, Ferro Roots, Ferro Crop, Ferro Enzyme Plus, Mammoth P, and just a dash of superthrive (probably not required, but I love the smell ).

After checking for leaks (none found) the Reservoir level has dropped by 1.5 Ltrs over the last 24 Hrs, indicating that the plants have started to take up feed from the Autopots.

This signals the end of hand watering, the plants will start to take off now!
:vibe:

Happy with the growth so far, and for 17 Days old I think the plants look healthy and seem content with my regime.

.

The environment has been tweaked a little and now sits as follows, with a Target Temp of around 25c, Rh 60%, VPD 0.8

The Pulse monitor is doing a good job

As you can see, not far off track at all.

Will continue with updates next week.

Is that Pulse One just about the best tool ever for controlling or at least knowing what is going on in your grow space. I love mine.

Yep, they look to be a good bit of kit, so far so good, this is my first grow using one, however, previously I did use other sensors and a manually calculated VPD chart.
Only obvious criticism I have at present is... I would like some add on sensors that feed info to the main unit and calculate an average maybe, as unless you purchase other complete units, there is only the one sensor in the unit and that remains static and located at wherever you place it,
Unless you have (say) four sensors spaced around and calculating a live average - then this is as good as it gets, but still pretty good !
It is very position critical and you really have to take and work on an average of conditions around the tent, especially as the plants grow, as localised conditions can vary a lot...
Maybe add on sensors are on their development list or coming  @okPeet ?

they look like they are coming along nicely.:d5: love all the info. thanks for the great read through.

No worries giving info if it helps others, you are welcome, and Yep they are looking good at this point (although it is early days)

Rockin' it, @Frogster !
Hope these come out even sweeter than your last Caramel grow!

Thanks Maria, so do I, but if they are just "as good" I will be happy:smoking:

Day 22 Update

Today the girls got their first taste of LST (Low Stress Training).

There are many ways of doing this and over time I have tried a few...

The way that I have had success with in the past is by using tomato cages.

This opens up the inner plant area to more light, and helps support the plant later when heavy in bud.

So why change what works for me and this is what I will be doing again this time, the mild bending and shaping causes very little stress on the plant.

As the plant develops I will re-bend some branches to open up more areas and start to defoliate as required.

The weather today is not suitable to remove the plants from the tent (wet & windy), so I took the following pics in the tent using flash.

Sorry the quality is not brilliant, but you get the idea.

Plant 1 - 22 Nov 2018.jpg

Plant 2 - 22 Nov 2018.jpg

For 22 days old the plants are growing well, already showing sex, and really starting to put on a spurt of growth, they appear to like the environment and nutrient regime.

As the plants have not been touched up till now, the stems are very supple and take to bending well, I find as soon as you start LST / defoiliation / etc, they firm up in response.

To maintain suppleness, in the past I have added a just a little silicone to the feed, and will start this with the next reservoir fill.

I find it also helps with heat stress, as I tend to run my tent on the higher side of normal range.

Apart from this addition, the nutrients provided are as previously detailed and will remain so for at least another week maybe two.
:frog:

The tent has been running with a high-end Rh for seedlings, but now with them drinking heavily and more leaf area producing even more moisture, the tent started to get condensation on the walls, so another fan was added.

The plants are now in veg stage, so the Rh has been reduced to a target of 50% and the VPD Target is now 1.0(ish).

Currently it is a little high, but this will come down to target as the tent environment stabilises after all this change about in the tent.

All in all, happy at this stage.

Thanks for checking in.

That's a nice looking set up you got there!!! I always think how great it would be to have an automated tent, but then realise I'd have to work out how everything works first and I know it won't be simple :dang:

But I'm intrigued to see how this run goes, have some rep for good luck! :slap:

Thanks for the rep slap.

Automated Tents aren't so hard, once you get started it's not so difficult to understand the different ways to set it all up.

The first bit of control kit I would recommend anyone getting, is a good fan speed controller, the one I use is the "Eco Technics Evolution".

Evoution.jpg

It can be used to control various items of kit, and does a pretty good job keeping the tent environment correct.

Other stuff can be tagged on to it like heaters, input & output fans, and it can be used in other ways too.

As I said, this is the one I use.... but, there are others out there.

Nice looking grow bud!

Thank you, keep checking back, more to come.

Man that looks like some serious bit of kit, I imagine it's not too confusing to set up! I bought an automatic water irrigator (Res>pump>timer>tubing to plants) was supposed to be pretty straightforward but the timer makes no sense to me!!
