Day 77: Flower Day 42:

Time for the weekly update: Well we are almost there the trichomes are cloudy with some amber around the edges most likely from the UV light. I expect amber to start showing on the buds soon. We are having a crazy heat wave here and my temperatures have gone into the 90s for short periods; certainly not ideal for finishing off. I am having outdoor temperatures over 110°F. This is one of the reasons I chose "The Incredible Bulk" for this grow as it is purported to handle the heat well. The strength of the aroma is slight which means I am not burning off the terps. Only cured bud will reveal the truth. The surprise in the weather this year is how dry it is and I have been able to keep the grow room under 60%. I did not use the Serenade as I never saw the need. Last Year was a struggle to keep the humidity under 80%. As soon as I see 10% amber I will start a 3 day flush of just PHed water.

The nutrient schedule for this week in 6.1 gallons is as shown below:

The buds are bigger than boxing gloves in the length and still putting on weight:

Read the thread from the beginning and you sir, are a pro :worship:. One of the cleanest and most advanced grow setups on here, really nice job . Waiting for the harvest updates and your next grow of course, will be following.

Thank you.

You can see how I built the room and my first grow in it here.

I am retired and have a lot of time to research products and dream about what I want to do. I surf many forums and steal all of the good ideas and then invent some of my own. It is just fun. Since I am retired money is always a deciding factor in what I actually end up building. My mom used to call me a cheap skate when she was alive. I like to think of it as frugal. I am always happy to help others and that is the main reason I post to this forum. I love it when a plan comes together.

Now I've read that whole thread too. And learned about VPD, which completely changes things !

Believe me, most of us here really appreciate what you do, there is a lot to be learned from your threads, keep on the good work .

VPD, who would believe your plants like it so humid? That is not knowledge from me; I am just passing it along. :wiz:

Yeah, completely changes perspective, but I assume that the sweet spot isn't exactly the same for all grow phases?

VPD remains the same throughout the life of the plant. The problems arise if the temperature is allowed to fall to a level that supports mold - botrytis - bud rot. So most growers including myself dry the room out a bit toward the end of the grow as a safety measure. I use an evaporative cooler in the summer to cool my house so the air going into my grow room is often above 60% RH before transpiration adds to it. It is a real battle to keep it under control in late bloom at the end of the summer. The list of things I do: Lots of air movement in the grow room. Close the door to the room of the grow room and open an outside window. It can get too hot for that. Run my 60 qt dehumidifier - pulls 8 amps! Turn off the swamp cooler and turn on the AC - watch the power meter spin like a top. Make sure the temperature never drops below 76°F and last Use Serenade as a prophylactic. Or some combination of all of the above.

I have been mostly successful with these techniques but I did lose part of one plant last summer. I didn't even know the plant had a problem as it was hidden by much bigger plants around it.

Day 70 Flower Day 35:

Time for the weekly update. I have been following the same pattern of letting the nutrients drop from about 1200 PPMs to 700 PPMs minus the starting water of ~140 PPMs over three days before topping the nutrients back up to 1200 PPMs. This seems to keep the runoff ~2000 PPMs and no noticeable nutrient burn. The nutrient schedule adds Shooting Powder this week and the amount in the chart is in grams since it is a dry product. Here are the amounts for 6.1 gallons in ml.:

It is hard to get a good perspective on the size of the plants through the door as to the size of the plants and buds. The tallest plant is about 40" and the longest bud is about 18". They are still stacking and the frost is coming.

SWEET

will you harvest tomorrow? I used to grow in the deep deep south. Temps were always 95 - 105 F and 90+ RH. I just kept "fresh" air moving like there was no tomorrow. hot sticky air always going through the shed. So I know humid and hot can grow weed. It is natural :)

Yes I will be harvesting tomorrow. In the summer I usually grow sativa strains from the tropical regions. They do well in hot and humid. I get pretty airy bud though. I kept coming across information that said INB did well in hot and some humidity and still have good buds so I gave it a whirl. We are close to finding out if that is true.

So if the temperatures are below 76F, there is a much greater chance for botrytis-mold ?
