New Grower The Garden of Beavis

hard to throw numbers out because different mediums/nutrient lines and different schedules dictate some variation but, starting from a very low PPM for the water only (i think you use distilled - makes this easier) i look to feed ballpark 500-600 PPM to fully established plants, but i feed that daily in my coco so you may need to raise that slightly.

as you are mid-grow, make up a typical feed and see what the PPM/EC is. i was shocked at how much i was trying to pump in to my plants before i got myself a meter and i believe my results were not as good as they should have been because of it. it's now my most used tool in the grow.

sorry bro i meant to say, plants look 10/10, be proud of these!

back off on the Sam a little bit as she's getting those bright tips throughout newer growth, besides that mate they look awesome.

Thanks for the tips and for the kind words! Trust me I am very proud of these girls. I have really surprised myself....been studying up for what seems like the past decade (probably longer actually) but surprised nonetheless.

Going to sound really cheezy and cliche especially for a new grower lol, but I feel like this is what I was born to do. I haven't been happier in my life. (also never been so stressed and worried at the same time, I basically am aiming for perfection, but c'mon this is my first grow)

no problemo dude

it's a rewarding hobby that teaches us patience amongst many other things - something lost on many in the age of communication and same day deliveries :pass:
opens your mind to a whole new world and if you don't already, i'd wager your passion will end up growing all sorts of plants in future too.

nothing wrong with the odd sprinkle of cheese either :pighug:

@Froot n Fuel

@NiceOption

I need some help here. I am about a day away from feeding, soil is still wet a bit, but I need to correct these nute issues before they get worse.

Should I go ahead and feed now, early? Or should I just wait until tomorrow and feed like normal, just back off a bit? (They didn't get any cal mag Xtra this time... thought maybe the extra N that is in it was causing problems, but now they are showing Cal mag def as well as the burn.

Praying that I can get it under control!

what is the approx PPM/EC of a typical feed for this plant?
do you alternate with water-only at all?
do you feed them to runoff every feed? some feeds? never?

I will do a little mix and get the ec/ppm in a few min. Getting my little girl ready for school at the moment.

I have not fed with water only since they were young. Been thinking about doing a mid cycle flush.

The larger ones just started getting fed to runoff about a week ago, the CDLCs will be getting runoff next feeding as well.

I am nearly convinced that the n burn is from the straight Ocean Forest at the bottoms of the pots..but the Cal mag was definitely from me not feeding it last time.

yeh, have a look at what kinda numbers you are pouring in to the pots. if you're anything like myself and @NiceOption you might find it's a higher number than you imagined, but as you're already on nice distilled water i doubt it'll be as severe as what we found once we started monitoring. i found some of the AN additives really bump up the PPM, even the Voodoo Juice had more in it than i'd imagined, can't comment on the B52/Piranha as i didn't use those. CalMag is also pretty potent stuff.

with soil, it grabs hold of all the goodies you pump in to it really well. so, say you put in 600PPM/1.2EC, with no runoff. the plant will take what it wants, and the leftovers will stay within the pot. over time, that excess leftovers builds up in the pot with only the hunger of the plant to keep it in check. a water-only feed can revive those leftover nutrients and make them more readily available for the plant to uptake again (by my understanding) which can help you with some of the leftovers and maybe even all of it. alternatively, feeding to runoff essentially pushes the unused salts down and out of the bottom of the pot, leaving your nice new fresh feed to replace it. what i don't see mentioned much and i wish i had better knowledge/understanding of this before/during first, second and third grows, is the impact a build up within the plant can have on the final product...i've never been shy to admit the first plants i grew, whilst looking nice enough with no major health problems, had lacking results in terms of the smoke - wouldn't burn all that well and it was harsh to say the least...but the buds looked 10/10 and smelled great. this lead me to make a lot of changes to my grow style and i believe 99% of my woes were caused by me not keeping the medium in good condition by pumping too much in to the pots, allowing the plants to wallow in high PPM soil, which also makes in-pot PH levels jump around like a box of frogs which will lead to all sorts of deficiency symptoms also.

so let's see what numbers you've got and then we can come up with a plan. also second/third opinions always welcome, i'm very much still learning myself but this oversight has been my biggest hurdle personally.

Lol okay so here's the moment of Truth....

First pics are regular distilled water, pH, ppm, EC

Then we have a feeding...based on the recommended feeding amounts on the bottles from advanced nutes along with pH up to bring it to the right level...

I feel terrible giving this to my girls lol...funny thing is that it was probably like twice as high before this..this is me backing off and only mixing the following:

-AN Connoisseur Bloom A+B: 4ml/L
-AN Sensi Cal Mag Xtra: 2ml/L
-AN Big Bud: 2ml/L
-AN Bud Candy: 2ml/L
-AN B-52: 2ml/L
-GH pH up&down as needed to get to 6.50-6.55

They were getting voodoo juice and piranha as well before this...

I think the B-52 is high in ppm, but that's just speculation because of how the consistency looks...you can smell the b vitamins coming off of it as well lol..

THANK YOU for your time @Froot n Fuel

I am thinking about waiting a day and then watering with only Cal mag Xtra...because they are all definitely showing signs of deficiency on that front. I wish I had a better Cal mag supplement..I can pick up some epsom salt at Walmart when I go to get more water but the calcium I am not sure on..

:yoinks: = my face at the PPM

:holymoly:

so um, we would do well to get that number down.
the recommended doses on the bottles are for photoperiods; general rule of thumb is 50% for autoflowers and assess their needs from there.
deficiencies are out of the window until we can address what you've got inside the pot - feeding over 3000PPM regularly with no runoff will have created some interesting conditions inside the medium. have you a large supply of distilled water?
