The Frankenbeans Experiment!

I likie your way of experimental thinking nonetheless...

and I will agree... AL:L genetics expression depends on the environment... DEPENDS on the environment. plants, animals, insects, humans.

:smokebuds: keep us posted.

Honestly it depends on alot. I think completely eliminating herms from the genetic line has only been the standard practice for maybe 20 years or so. So technically a lot of strains could still possibly have herm genetics. Also some breeders (although not many) still don't properly stress test. It was most likely just one plant pollinating the rest unless they were all the same strain from the same breeder. I don't think that makes it any better though, genetically speaking. All the seeds will still have 50% of their genes from the hermi. It's pretty simple, any hermi genetics are bad genetics. I understand where you're coming from about not wanting to buy more seeds and just using what you have but you are playing the hermi genetic lottery lol. We just don't want anyone thinking that it is good to use herm plants for breeding because its NOT. Good luck with the test. I hope you get some females.

Thanks for the great info! Also I have no intention of breeding hermies. I consider these "practice" plants lol. Just going to grow these out for fun. I still have plenty of other stable strains plus a huge bucket list of future strains :)

My GOD couldnt even finish the thread... VIBE ALERT PEOPLE! Mrbubbles welcome to AFN! Im not sure quite what you mean by your experiment? If your looking for percentages of what results from hermie beans? As after the message I kinda got lost in your orginal point... Let me ask you this MrBubbles... It seems like youve put a TON of effort and thought into your posts.. Why not take that time and read the stickies in each forum.... We are great bunch of people, we just dont like seeing misinformation spread, dont look at this as a negative or we're trying to pounce on you, we are just trying to help... If you just want beans, to grow meds for yourself that are better than what available locally than CONGRATULATIONS on all your beans! I mean all you want to do is save yourself some $$$ so in the end do any results matter? You answered yourself all the benefits of your own seed, dont have to buy no more, can create more, etc... So we just want to make the time and energy your invested into your endeavors well spent. Just GROW and be happy we ARE FREE FROM THE DEALER!!! Isnt that what matters at the end of the day anyhow? So let's all smoke a spliff and close this thread! (lol sorry dont even know what is in the middle of the thread as I couldnt read it any longer, had to skip down and issue a VIBE ALERT)

Sorry for the huge post and the drama. Not really trying to create any debate. Just trying to do a journal for these seeds so I can document what happens with them.

I have read pretty much read the stickies on this forum and several others. I spend about 4 hours per day doing online research. I'm in health insurance and things are super slow lol. Unfortunately most of my experience is through literature with a little bit of hands on experience from a long time ago. Most of my explanations of my theories are probably off. Believe it or not I was trying to keep this short lmao

I agree that all the members on this forum are excellent. One of the best I've found online. I don't hold any hard feelings. You guys are all very passionate about what you do and I respect that. Im very passionate as well and believe were all fighting for the same thing I'm probably just not explaining my viewpoints correctly.

And you are correct. I just want some practice beans. Call them training wheel seeds :D

if all a person wants is free seed or to avoid ordering more due to legal issues my best advise would be to get some stable seeds and breed a male to the females , or get brave and make some fems it gets annoying having seeds explode in ur face every time you smoke hermie weed lol , ahhhh the good ol days of thai weed as far as the eye can see and SNAP! there went another seed lol peace

Free birth control! Lmao

Thanks for all the comments and feedback everyone. Just want to reiterate that this is not a breeding project. I ended up with seeds from hermies and now I'm growing those seeds. I don't intend on passing these genetics on past the initial harvests. I realize there is a chance these could be hermies as well. I'm perfectly fine with a few seeds in the buds because my last crop was still pretty good smoke and best of all FREE! :D

Here's a few pics:

Doh! Short and sweet and now I know what you mean!!! That's an EXCELLENT IDEA practice with your beans experiment do crazy shit with them, learn to reverse with CS for future, as freedom is always number one and your right why risk buying and more seed when you have all those... And I can not lie in curious to see what the percentage will be (your going to do more than just one grow etx to get a good sample right?) as I basically that's what I did (though used a m/f) and from those resulting seeds I experimented learning to reverse etc what a plant could and couldn't take
Than once I felt my grow skills were a bit better than I started dropping the beans i paid good money for.... I was understanding your intention was that basically hermies were no big deal and they would be ok to use as breeding stock:.. I'm sure all that canna oil and smoke and the long explanation on your end things got lost... So will be watching and following along...
As I've got a bunch of seeds such as yours (though not Hermie stock) that I have no clue which or which but I know they are all great meds and it's fun popping one now and than, it's like a grab bag....
Have fun with them! Don't breed them ;) and when your skills are honed in drop another $100 down the rd and do it up right!!! You'll never have to buy beans again and worrying about loosing all your freedoms in the iron curtain.
:karma cloud: or your experiment

Now I think your getting my intentions lol. Sorry for not explaining myself better.

As far as how many I'll grow that depends on a few factors. Mainly space I have several other grows going at the same time. Also, it depends on my percentage of females. If I get 50% or more females that's acceptable as long as I can catch the other 50% hermies in time lol.

I think starting with 12, 4 of each strain, should give me a good idea of whether the remaining ones are worth the effort.

Thanks for the karma and the positive words! :D

Sorry the delay in updating this. Things have been getting pretty hectic. Mainly I've been waiting for the beans to sprout. So far I've had 2 of the 12 seeds sprout. I think this is either due to the seeds needing to set longer before planting or more likely I neglected them. The soil their in has been drying out quickly and I've been slow to water it. Oh well I'll see what happens in the next few days and replant if I need to. That's one great thing about this experiment is I have PLENTY of seeds for once :D

Here's a pic. Sorry it's tough to get in there and take a pic but at least you can see the tops of the 2 sprouts so far.

Frankenbeans update:

Hey guys,

Haven't been doing much with this experiment right now. Just have a lot of other plants and other stuff going on.

I did only end up with 2 sprouts out of my first 12 seeds. I'm putting this down to grower error as they were severely neglected.

For now I'm just going to grow these two sprouts. Don't worry I still plan on doing a full multiple plant experiment in the future. I will document these two plants in this thread.

My two sprouts were one blue cheese and one Berry Ryder unless they've been crossed with something in which case they could be pretty interesting. As you can see by the pics they are very small for their age but they both look healthy so I'm happy. At this point yield isn't a concern just sex and bud quality are what I'm looking to test with these two.
