Probably a Sawzall or bolt cutters when I'm ready because I hang plants whole to dry.
The big one is at least twice as wide as my thumb but it's now in back so I can't get a pic without removing one of the end boards / light bouncers.

Yes, the slower you dry the more evenly you dry, and that is the slowest method.
Anybody can crisp a bud dry, but hanging the whole plant drys the inside and the outside more evenly than any other method and you then get a better cure IMHO
