Lighting Testing GNs Holographic Series 1 With DPs Auto BlackBerry Kush and Auto Euforia

Can I weigh in for a short rant? TaNg, another noteworthy grow. Great performance from some skinny watts. But the whole GPW thing, or total weight, etc... just kind of drives me crazy. Don't get me wrong, I want to know how much I have to make last until the next plant matures and I get another windfall. But part of the reason for growing the plants we do is to simply grow the plant and see how we do. I also raise true tropical Hibiscus. I have several that will only flower once or twice a year, maybe 3 or 4 blooms in a year. I keep this plant around and continue to fertilize, and care for it because I enjoy the blooms it puts out. The BBK grows into a beautiful flower/plant. These are the kinds of plants that I want to grow. I don't care if I get 1oz or 5oz off a plant(but since I have seen Sesame Street, I do realize that 5 is better than 1). Each plant has its own personality, that's what I want to see, and experience. That's why my next autos will be from the Red Family at Sweet seeds. And I have to order this BBK, and Mephisto Genetics HBSS(loves some bubble gum), and then some Duckfoot, all for variety. I could go on, but why, you get my drift here.

The great growers I believe, grow as a personal challenge. They are not growing solely for weight or accolades. They grow simply to see if they can make a plant do something more than just grow. Anyone can grow a plant, not everyone gets a 2lb tomato from it. Much like I can grow an Amnesia auto in dirt under LED, and TaNg can grow an Ultimate auto in soil and LEDS, there is only several hundred grams difference. But both of us were satisfied with our performances at that point. Always aspire to do something new and refine something old. Set your goals realistically and someday we will advance and grow better larger plants, that really scare the shit out of the uninformed due to high THC.

I don't understand this, i mean everyone grows for different reasons, some for meds some for fun some for profit etc. GPW benefits anyone who wants to get a rough idea about yield. Especially if you've only got a small set up like me and growing for personal use, its not like i'm going to get any money back and I have to pay for my electric myself.

Ah, chickenfeet. Was not my intention to offend or confuse. I, like many, also got into this for numerous reasons, primarily as meds for my wifes cancer. But I am apparently a romantic hippy in my lengthening years. I seem to always think in big grand noble terms. Yes we all have to have some measure for ensuring success. I just get tired of it always becoming a competition, AND sometimes all those factors, GPW, LED, EC, TDS, Gal, grams etc... All become irrelevant because you just really enjoyed growing that plant.

TaNg, I agree that GPW is a great way to evaluate a lights performance. And what your doing with 150w is setting a benchmark for the future of LEDs. I have seen enough to know that at this time, LED is going to replace most lights that are heat sources. There is simply to much energy wasted in the by product of heat. I believe that a full spectrum light will be the future. As far as the soil issue mentioned earlier, I would like to try double stacking 3gal airpots and growing a monster. That should give you almost double the standard depth for tap root. I just question whether she can utilize the space and still perform, would she spend too long dropping root and not have sufficient time to fully develop?

hey tag60435 no offence taken, i just didn't quite understand what you were saying, i see where your coming from now though, personally i don't grow just to look at the frosty buds for a few weeks before the chop, although i enjoy it every time I'm near to harvest. You disagree and its all good :) :peace:

I personally think these grow journals are great, discussing everything from soil, nutrients and feeding schedules then equipment and light etc the only natural thing to compare the difference between set ups then is the yield and the flavour. Although there is still alot of praise about how pretty these plants look, especially that BBK.

About the stacked pot, to increase the tap root, i don't know if you'd be wasting your time with it, you've already said that the Auto's only have a limited time for growth, maybe it could work better with a photo. But there are other factors involved, for me i'd be struggling for space as i grow in a tent so the added hight of the stacked plant pots an the extra potential hight of a plant grown in one would be too much for me, but i'd be interested in seeing the difference it makes and maybe at the end of the grow you could include your net yield and GPW lol only joking about that last bit buddy :D

Chickenfeet, Its all good, and see I will rat myself out. Over on my grow journal For Dinafem Amnesia Auto I gave my dry weight. There it is. I have a second one still rolling along and wish to chronicle the differences in final weights. Get all the info I could into the journal in hopes that someone else will read something and make a new connection in knowledge. And that whole longer tap root experiment gets ya thinkin though, doesn't it? A tree needs tap root depth to establish height and the dripline shows fine root spread, why wouldn't it work for canna?

Yeah tag60435, for my part I do understand where you are coming from. For me GPW is really important on just that basis that I am desperate to get biggest yeilds with least wattage used to keep my electricity bills reasonable since I am sure they are monitored. Meanwhile my wife goes through plenty of bud a day treating her pain. It is a day to day stress to make sure I can provide enought.

If it would be a perfect world, Id be like you and just grow for pleasure. I find it is funny how this whole thing has become an equipment sports of a short with all those variables, but I find a great joy seeing that. Competition, if done in right spirit and kinship, is a really good thing that brings forward progress and advances on every field. See those awesome HS1 -LEDs? I doupt they would have not seen their fruition without us obsessing over our nifty little details.

Best to you and your wife man. I am relatively new to this field so don't let my young ignorance annoy you. :woohoo:

congrats on the kush, i love the colours and great resin coverage as well. I hope you enjoy the vaping

Terrific stuff Tang, you really are a master at work.

Thanks for the love guys.

Day 85. Auto Euphoria.

What an Auto she has turned into, really good looking buds dripping with trichomes and plenty of them, even the lower buds are swelling nicely with the lights quite far away. The density of the buds are testament to the intensity of the HS1s too. The smell is very strong and mouth-wateringly delicious.
I've changed the feed to Dragon Force today which she will be on until day 90 then 10 days or so of plain tap water with no PH adjustment to flush.
