It's been ages since my last grow... After almost a year's break, I got 'back on the horse' at the end of last year, harvesting just over 8 ounces of Dutch Passion 'Banana Blaze' and just under 11 ounces of Sawney's 'Nightmare' :jointman:

Not a bad result considering I switched the lights off for a full 7 days during week 5/6.... I got a bit panicky because of a rental inspection :yoinks:

We had another inspection last week, the next is due in 3 months.... TIME TO GET A FUCKING GROW ON!!!

As soon as she left, I planted 4 seeds:
    1. Dutch Passion 'Night Queen' - I love this hard hitting Indica, and I was gutted to let one die during my last grow when I switched off those lights :cuss:
    2. Dutch Passion 'Lemon Kix' - I grew 8.6 ounces of this super strong, super tasty gear back in 2022 and I've been hankering for some more ever since.
    3. Sawneys Beans 'Condemned' - Mango Smile Livers x Sour Orange Diesel Kush should yield some seriously fruity buds!
    4. Sawneys Beans 'Boomstick' - Gelato x Deadite Kush (and Deadite is Kandy Kush x Strawberry Cheesecake) so I'm expecting some sticky sweet delights!
I don't like the paper towel method as I believe handling delicate seedlings and exposing roots to light etc can slow down initial growth, so I use my time tested 100% succesful method of planting the seeds direct in Solo cups, with Coco soaked in EC 0.7 House and Garden nutrient solution.

I covered the pots with clingfilm, left them in the dark sitting on a warming mat at 21°C, and 3 days later the Lemon Kix popped up, followed next morning by Night Queen, then Condemned and finally the Boomstick. I removed the clingfilm, left them near a sunny window for the first day to green up, and set up the tent.
That night I shoved them in the tent, all under one Skyline 400 LED at max height, which I will leave on 24/7.

Here they are then, day 2...
    Day 2.JPG

Right about NOW (my Funk Soul Brothers) is the best time of year to grow, it's 'Winter' so daytime temps are up in the mid 20°Cs, and it drops to 10-15°C at night, minimal rain so the humidity levels are manageable.
Come Summer (Oct till Feb), it will be 30°C plus in the day, not dropping below 20°C at night, and the humidity shoots up.... life in the Tropics eh? 🌴🌴🌴
It's just not worth growing then, as the plants get heat stress the whole time and I end up losing an ounce or so due to mould.... always in the chunkiest of Colas which is soul destroying.
That's why I'm growing 4 instead of my usual 3 plants this time... should keep me going for most, if not, all of the year.... I'm hoping for somewhere between 30 and 40 ounces of prime bud, so expect a monster or two!

I'll keep the Girls in these Solo cups till around Day 12ish, then transfer them to 22L airpots with a Skyline 400 each, for the rest of the grow.

So do please pop by from time to time, and let me know what you think. There's a few jars lying around so help yourself! :smoker1:
Big thanks and love to @Sawney_bean and @Antonio_DutchPassion for providing the seeds, and to Muddy at LED Hydroponics for the lighting.
Thank you and I'll see you soon! :bighug:

    Day 12 - the Repot
  • Hey hey, it's Saturday, hope you are all caned as fuck right now. :jointman:

It's day 12 over here, and the seedlings have settled in quite well...
    day 12 Group 1.JPG

clockwise from top left: Boomstick, Condemned, Lemon Kix, Night Queen

    Here they are from above...
    day 12 Group 2.JPG

The Lemon Kix is the biggest, followed by Condemned, then Night Queen and Boomstick.

The Boomstick is slightly smaller than the rest, even though she was the last to show it was only a matter of hours between them all.
I think she's smaller because she still had the seed shell stuck on when she popped out, and I had to pull it off. It wasn't easy and it took a few goes, but in doing so, the seedling lifted out of the Coco a touch, and I reckon that's enough to stress her out and so she's stunted compared to the rest.
I'm sure she'll catch up, looking at @JP1 's beautiful Boomstick, it won't be long before mine fills out too. She's looking healthy and that's what matters.

When I look underneath, I can see root tips about to poke through the holes I made in the bottom, so it's time to re-pot them into their final airpots.
I just cut the bottom off the cups then cut up the side and plop the whole lot into a loaded pot, then pull out the cup... and voila....

    day 12 Group 3.JPG

clockwise from top left: Lemon Kix, Boomstick, Night Queen and Condemned

The Boomstick is in a slightly smaller airpot. I think its a 20L, and the others are in 22L's.
A closer look at them all...

    day 12 Condemned.JPG

    day 12 LK.JPG

    day 12 NQ.JPG

I put the rest of my lights in as well....
    day 12 Lighting.JPG

I normally keep the extraction filter on the far right side, but it causes problems when the plants get bigger as it stops me from raising the lights to the max height.... it only dawned on me today that I'd have more room if it was in the centre.

I do have 2 more Skyline 400's but one is starting to die on me (only 3 out of the 4 LED arrays work)... so I dug out the mighty Skyline 800 instead.... I'm sure there's a way to separate it into 2 Skyline 400's but I'm no sparky and I'm bound to fuck it up somehow!

I have this feeling I might have to buy another tent during this grow, so the extra lights will come in handy there.... just don't tell Mrs Tee

That's it for today. Have a good 'un.

Day 20 - Settling into veg
  • Lips are sealed mate!

Good luck and have fun with this grow, genetically speaking there is so much variation in your growroom! :woohoo:
I always love the cleanliness of your grow mate, keep it up!
Thanks Antonio for the rep points! The gear's so clean because it's all only been used once.... give it a couple more grows and then see!

It's day 20, a week after repotting them into airpots. They've taken well to their new homes....
    Day 20 Group.JPG

clockwise from top left: Lemon Kix, Boomstick, Night Queen and Condemned

Lemon Kix is the most developed...
    Day 20 LK.JPG

Bearing in mind that's a 30cm wide 24L airpot, you can see how big she is already. Those big fan leaves are beginning to look pale, so I have upped her feed a touch.
I've done a bit of leaf tucking to let those vigorous new side shoots come through.

    Condemned is purring away nicely...
    Day 20 Condemned.JPG

She and all the others are on the original strength EC0.7 feed I have given from the start. I'll probably up things in the next few days.
    Again, I've been leaf tucking

Night Queen is looking good too...
    Day 20 NQ.JPG

and although she's a bit shorter than the rest, the Boomstick is also looking pretty healthy...
    Day 20 Boom.JPG

So that's 3 weeks done, these next 2-3 weeks are gonna be crucial as they bulk up and hopefully see if I can get a monster or two (or three or four).

Hope you're enjoying the weekend.... England are playing tonight so seeing as the match kicks off at 2am, I'm gonna enjoy having a few spliffs of Nightmare beforehand! And I'll enjoy it as they have another Nightmare on the pitch.

Day 27 - 4 weeks in and they're looking good
  • Day 27 and they are about to hit the 4 week mark.
I try to fuck with them as little as possible up until the 28 day mark, to minimise any stress and potential slowing down. All I've done is a bit of leaf tucking and removed those single leaves at the very bottom of the stems.
I say 'try not to fuck with them', but occasionally I can't help myself....
I usually switch off the 800 and one of the 400's to water them with less risk of the lights attracting the neighbours, and like an idiot, I forgot to switch them back on again for a day, so on Thursday they all had one 400 to share.

Here they are as a group...
    Day 27 Group.JPG

From top left: Lemon Kix, Boomstick, Night Queen and Condemned.

All generally looking green and healthy, except the Lemon Kix, which is taller but as you can see, looking a bit paler than the rest.
I feed them the same mix, EC 0.8, but I think I should make a stronger mix for the Lemon Kix as she is more developed and has greater needs.

    Here's the LK closer up....
    Day 27 LK.JPG

You can see those side branches looking thick and tall, so she has good potential for a high final yield, which is great because I remember how so very strong and lemony she was when I last grew her. I really should get her back on it and up her feed perhaps by increasing the Cal Mag, and also maybe start staking out those side stems.
I say "really", 'perhaps' and 'maybe' because I'm a lazy stoner and a major procrastinator :smokeit:Don't expect me to actually do all of that before next weeks update.

    The Condemned is looking great...
    Day 27 Cond.JPG

and so is the similarly sized Night Queen...,.
    Day 27 NQ.JPG

and Boomstick, although smaller, is perfectly formed....
    Day 27 Boom.JPG

There you go then, I'm expecting them to bulk out and get ready for a good stretch, so I'm looking forward to the next weeks update already!
    Thanks for popping in! :toke:

Day 41 - A good start to flowering
  • Hey! and thanks for dropping by.
It's day 41 and they have all settled well into flowering.
The lights are on 24/7 and I use House and Garden nutrients, (which have no separate veg and flowering components) which means I have done very little to them.... just let them get on with it!

And Boy, have thay got on.... the Lemon Kix is just huge, getting pretty close to the lights...
    Day 41 LK 1.JPG

She has tons of long side branches, all hopefully destined to be sticky donkey dicks in a few weeks time!
Here's a closer look at her top half...
    Day 41 LK 2.JPG

The Boomstick is a lovely looking compact plant...
    Day 41 Boom 1.JPG

From above you can see those lovely buds forming...
    Day 41 Boom 2.JPG

The Night Queen and Condemned are still neck and neck, sharing a Skyline 800 unit.
    Condemned first...
    Day 41 Cond 1.JPG

... and a closer look at her canopy...
    Day 41 Cond 2.JPG

    and Night Queen....
    Day 41 NQ 1.JPG

After I took these pics, I gave the NQ, Condemned and Boomstick a good tidy up down under... removing straggly stems that won't reach adequate lighting, and any low lying yellowing fan leaves.

I'm expecting them to bud up some more over the next weeks, and plan to give them some PK13/14 sometime after day 50 in readiness for the final push.

Have a great week and keep on blazing!

    Day 54 PK time
  • Hi, sorry for missing out last week's update... I had a few bad days with my cluster headaches - yet to find a total cure but Botox and nerve blocks certainly helps.
It's day 54 and things are racing along on the grow front. I've been giving the Condemned, Boomstick and Night Queen PK 13/14 since day 50, and I started the Lemon Kix on it today. I usually give it for 6-7 days... I'll probably do it for 6 this run as the bottle is close to empty and I can't be arsed to buy another bottle just for 10-20 ml.
The tent is full up, with the Lemon Kix dominating....
    Day 54 LK 1.JPG

She's very tall, just centimeters from the lights - which are at max height. I've delayed the PK 13/14 on her for a week to give those long stems some time to load up the budsites, and I anticipate she'll go on for a couple of weeks longer than the others.

You can see the bud better with no lighting...
    Day 54 LK 2.JPG

All those long branches are bowing out and encroaching into the personal space of the other plants.... I'll have to get the Yoyos out and see if I can rein her in a bit.
She's so big, you'd never guess there's a Boomstick just behind.

Rather than disturb and potentially damage the Lemon Kix, I took the Night Queen out so I could get a pic or two of the Boomstick...
    Day 54 Boom 1.JPG

She's looking lovely! Nice and compact, and full of bud...
    Day 54 Boom 2.JPG

    Closer up...
    Day 54 Boom 3.JPG

    And closer still....
    Day 54 Boom 4.JPG

NQ out also meant I was able to get a good view of the Condemned....
    Day 54 Cond 1.JPG

    A very sticky Girl...
    Day 54 Cond 3.JPG

And a closer look at that main Cola shows all that frosty goodness...
    Day 54 Cond 2.JPG

She's still got some time to pack on more bulk....
    Day 54 Cond 4.JPG

The Night Queen was very similar to the Condemned in terms of size up until this week, but has started to fall behind just a little. I think the Lemon Kix is crowding her, and maybe she needs a bit more CalMag.
    Day 54 NQ.JPG

A close up shows she's heading in the right direction...
    Day 54 NQ 2.JPG

There you go then, we're heading into the final month. I usually time the PK so that they have a good 3-4 full weeks on normal nutes to finish off, which means the Condemned, Boomstick and the Night Queen should be done somewhere around the day 77-80 mark, and the Lemon Kix around day 85-90.

Thanks for coming over to see my shit, see you again soon!

Day 62 - the final push
  • Hey, thanks for popping over, How ya doing?
Thanks also to Sawney and Antonio's input, and to @hecno for the rep points.... much appreciated as always.
Yesterday it was day 62, our neighbour was right outside mowing the lawn, so I had to be quick getting the photos.

    The tent is absolutely chokka....
    Day 62 Group.JPG

Clockwise from top left: Condemned, Boomstick, (behind the enormous) Lemon Kix, and Night Queen

Last week, the taller stems on the huge Lemon Kix started to bend right over, encroaching on my other Ladies' personal space. I thought I had some Yoyos, but I must have thrown them when I ditched all my growing gear a year or so back, grrrr.

There's a grow shop an hour's drive away but I don't like going there... small town and who knows who's watching, eh? I managed to get a 75cm x 75cm stretchy net and some yoyos.... after a stressful arvo threading the Lemon Kix's taller branches through it, and a few well placed Yoyos, this was the end result...
    Day 62 LK.JPG

She's doing OK, but as Antonio said, she looks a bit rough. I suspect I could have fed her a stronger feed but I was being a bit cautious. She's drinking about 7 litres a day EC 1.0 with a good shot of Cal-Mag. Last week I gave her 7 days of PK13/14 and she's enjoying some Bud Candy to bring out those buds.... She's still got a fair way to go.

As you could see in the group photo, the Night Queen at the front left is fairly big, and is competing with the Lemon Kix for space there. She's also looking a bit rough round the edges... being pushed to the max, and again, I've upped the Cal-Mag. She's got plenty of nice looking bud on her though...
    Day 62 NQ.JPG

I had to drag the NQ out to get photos of the other two, but it was worth the effort.
    Here's Condemned...
    Day 62 Cond 1.JPG

    She's looking fucking great!
    Day 62 Cond 2.JPG

...and another shot of that sticky goodness...
    Day 62 Cond 3.JPG

Finally, tucked away in the back far right corner is the Boomstick...
    Day 62 Boom 1.JPG

She's also got some grease on those chunky assed buds...
    Day 62 Boom 2.JPG

    and another...
    Day 62 Boom 3.JPG

I reckon the Night Queen, Condemned and Boomstick have around 2-3 weeks left to go, but the Lemon may go for a couple of weeks more.... we'll see!

That's it for today, tune in again for more next week!

Day 72 -75 Time to crop the Night Queen and Condemned
  • Fuck me, it's only Monday and I'm shattered!

Last Friday night, I decided to chop the Night Queen. I stayed up all night and finished her by about 7am Saturday morning, and as everyone woke up after a long refreshing sleep, I got on with the day as usual.
I decided to chop the Condemned on Saturday night, but could only manage it until about 5am Sunday morning, then grabbed about 5 hours sleep.
Up at 10am to get on with family shit again, and after they went to sleep that night, I stayed up till 4am this (Monday) morning to finish the Condemned off. Up again 5 hours later.....

The place fucking stinks. I have the 4 boxes of manicured stems in an upstairs bathroom with a 5inch Hyperfan and filter running at full blast to keep the stench from escaping out the house and up into our neighbours' nostrils. Regular visitors to my threads may remember that I live 3 doors down from a Cop..... I do like to make my grows as challenging as possible.

I took a few pics using a macro and blew them up on the computer to check the trichomes and gauge when to do the harvesting.
    Here's some from day 72...

    Boomstick
    Day 72 Boom 1.JPG

mainly cloudies, but not ready yet.

    Condemned
    Day 72 Cond 1.JPG

Mostly cloudy with a few ambers.... she's so thick with goo and I'm worried she might go mouldy if I wait too much longer.

    Night Queen
    Day 72 NQ 2.JPG

I've convinced myself there's a few ambers amongst those cloudies... especially on the leaves. She's just about done.

    Lemon Kix
    Day 72 LK.JPG

mainly cloudy and clears, so she can live for a couple more weeks.

On day 73 I checked the Night Queen and Condemned again...

    Condemned
    Day 73 Cond.JPG

    Night Queen
    Day 73 NQ 1.JPG
    Day 73 NQ 2.JPG

These were taken last Thursday, and seeing that I can only crop on weekends (because of the sleep deprivation) I thought it was best to take the Night Queen down ASAP followed by the Condemned.
Waiting another week would risk losing some bud to mould, and I wasn't keen on that idea. In any case, next weekend is reserved for cropping the Boomstick and maybe the Lemon Kix.

Here's the Night Queen, manicured and ready to hang in boxes to dry...
    Day 75 NQ crop.JPG

They were really solid buds, covered in trichomes. Look at the block of Scissor hash there.... absolutely lovely in the Mighty Vape.

Here's Condemned, just moments before she got chopped on day 75....
    Day 75 Cond 1.JPG

Look at those heavy buds bowing out like that!

Here's some final close ups of Condemned...
    Day 75 Cond 2.JPG

    Day 75 Cond 6.JPG

And lastly, just for @WildBill a couple of shots of a very sparkly looking Boomstick, to drool over...

Thanks for taking a peek, I hope you enjoyed the show!

    Day 80 to 88 - Final harvesting
  • You deserve some good rest mate what a shift you have pulled off.
Now on to the drying and smoking yaaaasssssssssss
No rest for the wicked mate. The Night Queen and Condemned may be down, but there's two more left to go.... the Boomstick and the Lemon Kix.

I chopped Night Queen and Condemned on the weekend of the 23rd and 24th August, days 74 and 75 respectively.
On day 80 it was the turn of the Boomstick.
Here she is just before I got to work...
    Day 80 Boom 1.JPG

She was full of solid bud....
    Day 80 Boom 3.JPG

with plenty of sparkle on her...
    Day 80 Boom 2.JPG

I manicured her stems and hung them up in a couple of boxes. Another long night but definitely a pleasure not a chore.

That left the Lemon Kix.... she got very big very quickly and I think I was a bit cautious with the feed, so by the time I upped her EC she had gone through a bit of a slow down with the bud production. Once she picked up, it was too late and I just had to try and get her over the finishing line.

She was massive but her stems were a bit thin, so I had to put a net in and held everything up with yoyos...
    Day 83 LK 1.JPG

From a different angle you can see how tall she got...
    Day 83 LK 2.JPG

Her colas looked substantial, but they were fluffy not hard, and she was foxtailing like crazy...
    Day 83 LK 3.JPG

Those pics were taken on day 83. I decided to stop feeding her for a couple of days, and on day 88 I got in the tent and proceeded to pull all her leaves out....
I tried to take a few pics from inside the tent, but it was hard to fit her in....
    Day 88 LK 1.JPG

So I took a shot of her top half...
    Day 88 LK 3.JPG

    ... and one from underneath...
    Day 88 LK 4.JPG

The buds were really fluffy by now...
    Day 88 LK 5.JPG

... but close up, there's a good amount of frost...
    Day 88 LK 6.JPG

    and a final juicy shot...
    Day 88 LK 7.JPG

So NOW I can relax a bit. They are all hanging in boxes, except for the Lemon Kix, which is hanging in the tent, lights off, fans on.

It's been 2 weeks for the Night Queen and Condemned, and they are almost dry enough to remove the buds from the hanging stems and jar with Bovedas, I reckon another 2-3 days. The Boomstick will probably need another week. and the Lemon Kix should be a bit quicker as she's in the tent.

Once everything's dry and jarred I'll do the weigh in... should be a good 35-40 ounces hopefully!

    Final weigh in
  • Hey, so here we go with the final weigh in. All weights are DRY.
The Night Queen, Condemned and Boomstick were dried by hanging stems in boxes till they got to about 50 or 60%RH, which took around 3 weeks in the end. The Lemon Kix was dried in the tent with ventilation and extraction, and that took about 2 weeks.

I trimmed off the buds, weighed them and jarred them with Boveds 62's in Mason Jars so that they can cure for a few weeks.

    Night Queen was first...
    NQ.JPG

That's a load of solid bud, 6.7 ounces (187g) but I think I may have overdried it very slightly. It is a lovely smoke, all the usual flavours and a really strong hit... I get bleary eyed after a few tokes!

    Next was the Condemned...
    Cond.JPG

Again, very solid buds, and a bit more of a yield.... 10.1 Ounces (286g). It smokes really well, nice and tasty and gets me wasted.

A few days later, I did the Lemon Kix. There was loads of gear....
    LK 1.JPG

    Plus this lot...
    LK 2.JPG

The buds were pretty fluffy, but still very sticky. Not much bag appeal, but plenty to keep me happy that's for sure!
    That's a total of 16.4 Ounces (464g)

Then a week later I did the Boomstick...
    Boom 2.JPG

These were lovely tight buds, with a beautiful smell. 6.3 Ounces (179g)

It would have been a bit more, but unfortunately she had a bit of light mould forming in some of her buds....
    Boom 1.JPG

That's about 3 ounces in the bin for fuck sake.

Still not a bad final haul.... 39.5 ounces or 1118g

That should keep us going for a little while. It's heating up for a blistering hot summer, so there's no point starting a grow until Feb/Mar next year.
The tent has to come down anyway as we have an inspection next week. I also have a prescription for medical cannabis now, so that takes the stress off if one of the neighbours smells anything and reports us.
I've been prescribed some CBG oil which is pretty good for migraines and serious headaches as it reduces inflammation in the brain...
    DSC_7865.JPG

plus some 26% THC Animal Cookies bud (grown in Canada) to help me sleep....
    DSC_7863.JPG

I'm pleased to say that even though this bud is pretty heavy, mine is better!
