I hear you with "Strain specific", I'm thinking that 60 day seed to weed strain wouldn't be so great for "Schwazzing".
Indicas are also preferred and if use with sativa, the advice is to defoliate less severely.
It would be great if the Hobbster could interview him and find out some more about it.
I'm also guessing that currently most of the info available would be photoperiod based but we are a experimental lot and I'm sure there will be a number of AFN grower who would like to give this style a try! then we teach the world how to "Schwazz" an auto!
As I said to Mossy, I was potentially one of the first if not the first to try defoliating an auto, documented in Strain hunters, first finding out about it on ICMag.
I need to see if I can find the thread as it is about 8 or so years ago, when there were so many myths about auto's and what you could and couldn't do to them.
I never listen to such hearsay and I would try as many different techniques to prove to myself what was possible.I believe i was also one of the first to ScrOG an auto again in the same forum as mentioned above. I have been growing auto's ever since "Lowryder" was first released and I have never looked back!
Drama about defoliating auto's, sounds much like what was going around when auto's were first released, people saying that you can't Fim,Top,Dwarf,ScrOG etc, all absolute nonsense but sometime there is a correct time or method of doing it.
In the short time auto's have been with us the likes of AFN and it's experimental members, have come to find that these methods do work and have displayed how we can do it to achieve better crops!
I remember way back at the start of auto's, my user info stated "I liked doing what I was told couldn't be done but doing it anyway"!
This rebellious streak, proved to pay dividends, as I forged on regardless of what people said was possible and then proved it was possible and with good results.
I have now been a coco grower for some years and have "Jayar" to thank for that, it's a shame he is no longer a poster on the forums.
As a hydro medium, i have had no problems with micro nutrients and I have a number of products that will get them to my girls.
I'm not sure about tank hydro as when I grew ebb and flow I was much less experienced a grower which must be at least 15-18 years ago.I didn't even ph nutes and would just replace them every two weeks (Using Canna nutes) I surprising never had any problems but since that time I have improved as a grower immeasurably and then some.
You have to love organics and I was organic for years but I have also used mineral ferts too, as I presently am with "Dutch Pro" with nice results.
I have done coco with Biobizz and also Biotabs, which technically is organic hydro but to do organic tak hydro, there would be the need the use of a biofilter with bennies in it, to turn the Nitrites back in to usable Nitrates.
Organic tank hydro poses a lot of possible problems but it is not impossible but very experienced growers only.
Yeah it is great to visit your grow and I'm glad I did, we can thank Mossy for that, with her quoting me!!
Compliments are like rep, they are earned, so my compliments to your are well deserved, just like the rep I have just given you
These days I spend less time in forums as I need a better forum/life balance to keep everything ticking along smoothly, unfortunately this means less visits to people journals, especially as I write long winded replies!
Have a great day
