    Update
  • Figured out what was wrong with my ph meter. Some liquid got into the bulb somehow. It was a relatively cheap meter but I did accidentally leave it out of its storage solution for a 36 hours....wonder if that destroyed some seal.

Either way, just ordered a new one. An apera meter. Does ph, ec, tds, salinity, and one other measurement not that I needed it all but it would be nice to test everything with 1 meter.

    Just wanted to share
  • So a bout a week ago I snipped so super larfy branches off the watermelon zkittles to try some uncured bud to see what it was like.

Still early, not much of a high to speak of. Light buzz, but even with no cure, it tastes like watermelon flavored grass, so that makes me wonder what its gonna be like after the cure because the granite I chopped early, just tasted like grass after it was dried enough to jar. Theres definitely not enough here of the watermelon to do that, but damn.

I might go get another scale soon and start progressively harvesting it so I can get a start recording wet vs dry weights. Then all I gotta do is add em up write my review amd I should be able to get my CC badge. Its getting close. Most buds are 50/50 clear and cloudy, and all the sugar leaves that havent fried up from earlier issues are about 25% amber so I feel like when it does start to teeter on the verge of cloudy to amber its gonna go quick.

Oh also before I forget, bought a trim bin off amazon finally also got some better mini hydrometers for the jars curing right now. I was using old analog ones from my old reptile habitats. Velcroed to the lid, cleaned and sanitized them of course but I only had 2 and will definitely need more soon.

Also Idk if anyone noticed this but for future reference 90% of the hydrometers on amazon have a 5-10% rh tolerance which definitely is not accurate enough for my liking, if my jar is reading at 62% and its actually 67-72% thats a big difference, not as drastic on the low end if you're reading 62% as 57% isnt bad but 52% is really pushing it. I found only one brand that was advertised at a +/- 1% rh tolerance.

    Day 91
  • Nothing much to update, buds getting bigger. More trichomes getting cloudy, more amber on the sugar leaves of the watermelon. Also some amber showing up on both the peyote sugar leaves.

    New ph meter
  • Got my apera ph meter today and goddamn this thing fancy. Laminated 1 point lesson on use and calibration, and a case with buffer solutions. Shit my old ph meter was the same price and it didnt even come with batteries.

    Ph meter
  • So my ph meter is all set up, did the 2 point calibration, and I gotta say this thing is WAY better than my last meter.

Had to water the watermelon. Did a plain watering and ph'd the spring water to 6.5.....after using the apera, I can guarantee that my waterings the last few weeks were far too acidic. By a lot. According to the new meter Im using less than half the ph down I was with my old meter....the plants seem unshaken by it so far so we'll see...

    Day 93/53 of flower
  • Lets start with tent conditions since I havent put it up in a while
    Screenshot_20230208_083019_AC Infinity.jpg

Thatd dead center of the tent. Nevermind the vpd, not really accurate since I did not put a leaf surface temperature in there.

So its been about 2 weeks of plain waterings on all 3 to help wash out any excess nutrients, so even though I watered yesterday on the tall peyote and the watermelon zkittles. I decided to give them a half gallon each of feed and the short peyote got a full gallon as she was ready to be watered finally.

Gave them a light feeding though. Tds meter came in at 550. Ph'd to 6.5 again watered all 3 to about 10-15% runoff. According to the schedule they only get big bloom and tiger bloom now, but I gave a half dose of boomerang as well to give it a little boost of everything secondary.

I should mention that Im still following the fox farm schedule but Im cutting all the dosing in half from now on. In my spring water a half dose usually comes out to 700-800ppm. This is what Im considering a full feed from now on so this was suppose to be half that but it was a bit more.

Girls are looking good, watermelon still has a lot of fried leaves but buds are still swelling. Looks like maybe the shorter peyote might be starting to foxtail.....not quite sure didnt really take pics either.

Took a bunch of fan leaves off in the middle of the 2 peyotes to try and shed a little more light in there.

Strangely enough I thought a healthy plant with budsites getting direct light would produce nice solid buds. The short peyote is proving that not to be entirely true. All the budsites with popcorn sized buds even the completely shaded ones are nice and decently dense pretty much all the way down. What is there is DENSE but its the opposite on the tall one, the shaded budsites even right under the canopy are pretty spongey, not like the granite runtz but spongier than its sister plant for sure.

    Anyway thats all for today

Day 94 of photos(chop day for tall peyote)
  • So today is day 54 of flower on my tall peyote critical and according to trichs on the 3 main colas its time to chop

Still some clear, but sugar leaves are riddled in amber trichs. About 2-5% on the calyx of the buds and I would say 90-95% cloudy and about 1-5% clear. Lower buds are less mature and I probably could have let her go another week, but Im ok with where she is. Lots of larf on this girl, lots of really nice buds too, so next grow with this Im really gonna have to lollipop to make sure everything is a consistent density.

Nevertheless she is down. Wet trimmed some of the larger sugar leaves and all remaining fan leaves. Still the main 3 branches are HEAFTY! The whole plant definitely has some weight to it. Hoping I pull about half a pound off this plant alone. Its high hopes, but I only got about 4 off my auto and Im just about halfway through that.....since it was harvested early its not strong and Im developing a strain tolerance to it unless I smoke the main colas which Im trying to save for last.

With the whole plant chop I ordered a new scale so I could get a wet and dry weight for the cultivators club. May be overboard but it was a good deal, its a 3kg max scale with cal. weight. I really didnt know what would be a good max weight but 3k is 6.6lbs and it measures to .01g so I think Im good lmao. I just wanted a larger scale for wet weight, so I could put a larger container on top of it to get an entire plant in it. Should be here tomorrow morning, so Ill put up a pic with the wet weight when I get it.

Heres some pics of it taken down

And the remaining 2 plants....believe they will both be coming down in a week to 10 days so all 3 plamts are falling short of breeder times

    Day 95
  • Purple is starting to come through on the short peyote and it seems like buds are still are still swelling on both the plants left. Main cola on the watermelon is almost as big as a 1/4 gallon spray bottle.

Got the new scale today and I definitely went overboard. It'll be one I have for pretty much my whole life. Its a US Solid 3kg Electronic Precision Balance. All calibrated but my stuff has been hanging for more than 24 hours now, and Im working tonight so maybe Ill just put the dry weight of the tall peyote up after I paper bag it in a few days. Now that I got the scale I can put up wet/dry weights for the rest....can't wait to see what that watermelon weighs in at!
