Indoor SPZ's Ultimate vs. Gorilla Showdown

Day 43

I didn't get a chance to change out the reservoir yesterday as planed but so I was up early this morning changing to the bloom nutes. Dumped and cleaned out the reservoir as well as flushed the autopot tubes with a liter or so of fresh solution. I am keeping the feed schedule in my spreadsheet which I will share again at the end of the grow. Basically exactly the same as Hansbricks schedule, but I did up the cal/mag and I refreshed the beneficials (recharge and voodoo juice) for the bloom phase. Good news, haven't seen any gnats for more than a week so I am bumping the BT back to once every two weeks, this will be the first week I skip. Here are some pics

Gorilla 1, she's really taking off!

Ultimate 2

Group shot. Hard to see here but the ultimates are a much darker shade of green than the gorilla. Just variations in the strains I think

I have not been able to keep up with the Ultimates desire for MORE cal/mag. You can see the discolored leaves here. I've kept the lights around 30", upped the cal/mag all the way to 3ml/L now!

By contrast you can see the Gorilla is just praying a little bit, nothing too bad. This strain has been a real pleasure to grow, she has taken all kinds of stress and you'd hardly know it.

The thermometer tells the sad story of my cold and dry basement.

Hell that is my temp and humidity. WAY To GO, Bro !!!!

The A/U do seem to like the cal/mg. The seeds must be from a different generation than Hans.......That is what I say.

They look green and healthy, when will you top them?

The wet towel will work, not perfect but better than nothing. One of the guys here also puts a bowl of hot water in the tent so it will steam off and help add some moisture. Not sure if you have room for that.

I do and I've played around with various configurations. The best I came up with was to fill a large bowl with hot water, put a towel in it to wick up the water, and drape the towel over the air intake of the tent. This brought the relative humidity from around 15% to around 30% pretty reliably and with no electricity consumed. With a large bowl you can top it off with some water from the kettle once a day or so.

Anyway I'm letting my humidification stuff dry up since we seem to be entering into a warmer, wetter weather pattern, and I'm officially into the flowering phase so lower humidity is more desirable.

Yes these girls have been the most finicky I have raised yet! One of them seems happier now but the other is smaller and still has some funky new growth, perhaps there is something else going on with my environment or an infection or something.

I can tell you one thing, the ultimates are starting to smell WONDERFUL! The smell they put out is positively intoxicating. So maybe with all the stress they may not put out the biggest fruit but I'm hoping it will be the tastiest :coffee:

Not planning on topping them just doing some low stress training. I had planned on doing a screen of green for this grow but I'm afraid I've stunted these girls and they are probably not going to be bursting out of the tent regardless. I'm focusing my efforts on setting up a new grow area where I hope to do a ScrOG on my next grow. I've done a lot of leaf tucking and also I tied back the main branches which has worked really well to start a bunch of new bud sites.

My A/U came out good. All bud all tight. It did not give me any trouble. Only my Northern lights do. Keep happy and grow.

Day 47

The girls are growing at a prodigious rate now. They are drinking 1 liter per day each and easily growing a few centimeters per day. I've done some LST training over the weekend so I wanted to show off the results.

Every grow we learn something we did not know, we did not know. Keep up the great work.
