Indoor SPZ's Ultimate vs. Gorilla Showdown

Looking good. Mine are sad.

Thanks man! Your autos will match your photos in the near future I'm quite sure. :smoker1:

This batch is a good bit smaller than my last on the same day off the grow. I'm not sure what to expect, whether they will stay this size or if those giant genetics are going to kick in. The gorilla in particular looks like it could grow alarmingly at any time.

I feel like the temp swings really effected their growth. Thats how i got the powdery mildew as well.

Yeah this weather has not been good for growing, I'm happy to get three plants out of this run! I hope I can regulate the environment in my new area better.

I have a theory that the gorilla likes my current feed schedule, but it is too much for the ultimates. They are showing signs of excess N like clawing, dark green leaves, and glossy leaves.

Here is a leaf showing the claw

So I added some pH-adjusted plain water to the trays of the Ultimates this morning just to give them a rest from all the nutes. To my horror I found this scene in the tray of one of the ultimates

I expect a little build-up at the end of the grow but this is disgusting. I checked for a bad smell and none was detected. Only this pot is affected, the others look about as clear as expected. Anyone ever see that before?

I agree. My Ulimate was a bit clawed. Also all of my trays were that ugly. All of them. They never stank, but I wondered how the plants can grow with that grungy water. But they did grow. I think the Ultimates are a bit sensitive when they are around others. At lest this 6 seeds I had.

It does seem to be just built up nutrient solution. Filling the bottom tray with water helped clear it out a little bit. I haven't seen one look that bad, even the plant that got root rot on my last grow actually looked clean in comparison, but live and learn I guess.

I've lowered the base nutes down to 1.5ml/L and stopped adding any supplementals that raise the N levels, keeping an eye on those clawed leaves to see if they straighten out.

Day 56

Weekly update, here they are!

Gorilla 1. I tied back the main bud and I've done a bit of leaf tucking, nothing other than that she has produced more bud sites than you can count!

Ultimate 1. Tied back a few of the taller stems and now she's developed a lot of bud sites

Ultimate 2, she's small but she is turning into one giant bud if you look inside that dense canopy!

Thanks man, you will be first to try some with me when they're ready! The gorilla has really come into her own. She is a foot shorter than my previous best, but I swear she is more lush and dense, so I have really high hopes!

Yeah the autos have a really quick veg period, if they don't get everything they need from the start they won't grow to their full potential. I just ordered about $100 worth of heating equipment for the grow space, but if I had that set up properly in December the tent would probably be bursting now. No makeup plays lol
