Indoor SPZ's Ultimate vs. Gorilla Showdown

I should add that tomorrow is the start of week seven and I plan on flushing the system and switching to bloom nutrients tomorrow evening. I just checked and there are about 6L of solution in the tank, by tomorrow that should be down to only 3-4L which I will dump outside in the ornamentals garden. The girls are stunted and have some cal/mag issues despite my efforts to keep up with them, but I still hope they will put out some fruit

The wet towel will work, not perfect but better than nothing. One of the guys here also puts a bowl of hot water in the tent so it will steam off and help add some moisture. Not sure if you have room for that.

Good morning @SPZ @Dudeski

I too have problems with the humidity. Like SPZ I have a 6" fan with a controller. Like SPZ I feel the 6" fan is TOO big. When I turn off the fan the humidity goes from 25% to over 50%. So we either need to get a smaller 4" fan or put the fan on a timer. Tho I am not sure the 4" will be the total answer. I feel that the timer would be a quicker and cheaper fix. But I have not gone that route as my med tent is in it's final days for this grow and I have not seen any harm done. I know the fans the source of my low humidity. That is my input.

Thanks for your input, my friend, always welcome :bighug:

I too am riding it out with a wet towel over the air intake lol and I get what I get this time :shrug:

I'm hoping for my next grow starting in March or April I will have a new grow area set up!!!! I plan to build a small internal room in my basement. It will be about 5 x 9, so roughly twice the square footage of the tent. It will be insulated, with a switcher to draw air from either the basement or the the cold air return from upstairs. It will be big enough to run a small oil filled space heater, and I am looking at getting a humidifier that hooks up right to the plumbing like this:

or a fogger with a big reservoir. Take a look at this company "The house of Hydro", they only make humidifier foggers for hydroponics and similar applications.

@SPZ
I was thinking of that for you. I really was. The room around the tent maybe ideal for you. The only thought I am having is that it still may not be good enough, due to that 6" fan. It will be all good if that humidifer kicks out a lot of air, BUT if the fan keeps sucking it out then you may still have the same problem. Now your the Engineer and I was only a brakeman on the RR, so you may know more than I. Somehow that increase in humidity has to stay in the tent and still have an exchange of air. For me using the filter is why I run the fan. With that 6"er it could still be an issue. I feel the fan on a timer is something that will be needed.

We all know that the plants in AutoPots really expire the water. This is why when I shut off my fan the humidity goes up to 50% in my med tent. I believe for me I need to find a timer that can go on for 5-10 minutes every hour. My goal will be to maintain a constant humidity, which I an not doing now. Well really I am at a constant 25-27%. Of course I am on the high dry plains here. Humidity in the house is 30% now and that is with the humidifier running on the gas furnace.

Do not take this as anything other than me thinking too much. For me I do have the humidity. I just need to keep it in the tent PLUS get air exchange.

Post some more pics .... I love seeing how you are doing.

I just took a peek at the fan I bought. It is the ActiveAir 6" rated for 400CFM. The 4" version of the same fan is rated for 165CFM, so that is quite a difference. I do agree that the 6" pulls too much air through a 4X4 tent, maybe it would be easier to maintain the environment with a 4" with less than half the CFM. I am also using a speed controller on low.
