SOH I am going to be following with enthusiasim. Rice hulls eh cool stuff bro. I have four plants about the same age think different and a auto extreme. I do not run mars but have about a true 1200 watts of led so we are close in age and strength of light it will be cool to see how they do. I just went to pick up another bale SS mix number four just to let you know it is identical to pro mix bx but no vermiculite. I am going to do a little experiment for myself I have some pro mix bx and ss#4 too. I am going to grow one in bx starting this week and the rest are SS#4. You are using a organic mix of PRO MIX. will see how they do. I see you use growmore nutes. I use tangs schedule Happy growing bro. PS the mix i mentioned is the closest you can get as to what tang uses for a medium in North America. Botinacare makes a pot I am going to try to Herculese pots they are the same concept as airpots but a a quarter of the price. Airpots are hard to find in Canada and the states and when you do 20.00 a piece. What do you use for containers? Where do you get the rice hulls from in bulk? I ramble a bit but my intentions are honorable lol:clap:
I see you got the Mars Hydro and Grow More combo! That's how we roll, baby!
Heck yeah dude! Been really digging the Grow More Sea Grow; it's very strong stuff and man did I ever nute burn the piss out of a LOT of plants before finally getting it somewhat dialed in lol; but can produce some nice results and man, for the money? I bought the huge tubs of the 16-16-16 and 4-26-26. Should last years. Going to start using them in my garden I think. Pop's been trying to get me to try out their organic line-up; so been curious to see how that stacks up. Especially price wise.
I have run General Hydroponic General Organics on a couple grow when I first started out; wouldn't mind giving that a shot again honestly. I still have some of the nutes in fact. I also have the trio of Advanced Nutrients pH Perfect Grow-Micro-Bloom; I didn't get into all the additives but was curious what it was about. Again; nothing really bad to say about either, but the Grow More was the cheapest out of all of them and so far seems the easiest to use and I've liked the results.

Do you use these? They work pretty well?
Yes I'v switch ed to them, they keep the gnats and white fly's down... I'll be sure to go easy on the glue
I'm trying to get away from the 5 gallons except for certain strains; but I'll try out one of those 5 gallon pots. Just for you big guy. Now what's the shipping on these bad riders?
Oh and I was just breaking your balls about the glue on the container.
Thats Amazing! They're giant hydro net pots. LOL Roots must love O2 :Cool bud:
Roots DO love O2
SoH i have those same pots and in the 5 gal size. Like you said they are Very durable even though Thin. My 3 gals iv had for about a year and a half and all are still surviving.
Enjoy.
I love that idea of Rice Hulls i cant stand perlite dust.
Do they get ragged over time? What kind of life expectancy do you think they have? Do you ever LST with them? One they get pierced/poked with a hole, do they start ripping more easily?
Yeah that was the one thing I instantly noticed when I was pouring the rice hulls in; no perlite dust There was still some dust from the rice hulls; but man I'll take that over perlite any day of the week!
Great setup Hobbes, i can repeat some advice Tang gave recently on one of his threads regarding LED growing.
Humidity : 40% all the way through the grow
Veg phase : Temperature 80f
Bloom phase : Temperature 85f
I am testing that advice with my current grow.
Out of interest, why run a 1600W LED when you could get a 75W LED (Grow Northern) that is proving to be a fantastic performer ?
And what is the real draw of the light ?
atb,
steely
Thanks for the advice steelrat; I'll work on keeping my levels towards there as much as I can!
As to the 1600W vs 75W (David vs Goliath? I'm replacing a 1000W HPS light in a 4 foot by 4 foot tent (which is now upgraded to a nearly 5 foot by 5 foot tent.) I've grown with 1800 watts of HPS lights for nearly 3 years now and I've been wanting to make the switch to LED's. I prefer to grow several plants under one large light; that's pretty much always been my growing style.
The draw of the light? Honestly, no bullshit?
1. I know firsthand several members on here, many of which I respect in various degrees that not only own them, but use them, have documented them on here, and grow bad ass, "tits mcgee" buds. Buds that, dare I say humbly, are often far nicer looking than buds I myself have grown.
For me, it's not about "is this better than that," but "Hey, I know you and I know you wouldn't bullshit me. Does this work? Okay yes it does? Alright that's all I need to know." That's one thing that I don't need an marketing or sales rep to sell me on.
2. Price. You have performing lights with proof that sells for a relatively affordable price.
BUT, I've never grown with it, let alone LED before. So the proof in the pudding is still just the instructions on the back of the cardboard box in the grocery aisle for me. Bill Cosby is sitting there somewhere going "ya want some JELLO PUDDING POPS!" in that Bill Cosby voice that only Bill Cosby can do because he's Bill Cosby.
Anyways; we'll see how it does. If it grows plants well and reduces the amount of heat related issues versus a 1000W HPS light; then for me personally, it's a win!
