Son of Hobbes tests Mars II 1600W 5W LED + Mars Grow Tent + Mephisto Genetics + Terrestrial Bean Com

SOH I am going to be following with enthusiasim. Rice hulls eh cool stuff bro. I have four plants about the same age think different and a auto extreme. I do not run mars but have about a true 1200 watts of led so we are close in age and strength of light it will be cool to see how they do. I just went to pick up another bale SS mix number four just to let you know it is identical to pro mix bx but no vermiculite. I am going to do a little experiment for myself I have some pro mix bx and ss#4 too. I am going to grow one in bx starting this week and the rest are SS#4. You are using a organic mix of PRO MIX. will see how they do. I see you use growmore nutes. I use tangs schedule Happy growing bro. PS the mix i mentioned is the closest you can get as to what tang uses for a medium in North America. Botinacare makes a pot I am going to try to Herculese pots they are the same concept as airpots but a a quarter of the price. Airpots are hard to find in Canada and the states and when you do 20.00 a piece. What do you use for containers? Where do you get the rice hulls from in bulk? I ramble a bit but my intentions are honorable lol:clap:

Do you use these? They work pretty well?

Yes I'v switch ed to them, they keep the gnats and white fly's down... I'll be sure to go easy on the glue :goodluck:

Mail man brought me the fabric pots a day early! Pictures of the new pots soon!

Thanks steelrat for the information, but in fact, the recommend humidity should be above 50~60% during veg and around 45% during flower according to most of our growers' experience. :tiphat:
Great setup Hobbes, i can repeat some advice Tang gave recently on one of his threads regarding LED growing.

Humidity : 40% all the way through the grow
Veg phase : Temperature 80f
Bloom phase : Temperature 85f

I am testing that advice with my current grow.

Out of interest, why run a 1600W LED when you could get a 75W LED (Grow Northern) that is proving to be a fantastic performer ?

And what is the real draw of the light ?

atb,

steely
The actual draw power of the 1600w light is around 750watt. :d5:

Those are almost the same to the botanicare herculese pots. Root pouches airpots all get the job done no more roots growing in a circle and air prune to fill the container that is what we want.

Here are the new 3 gallon fabric pots!

They are sewn with a fairly flat bottom with the fabric.

I read some reviews on fabric pots saying material can be very thin; this material is thin but it feels very strong and durable. I don't see this ripping or shredding unless it snags on something or gets pierced.

I'm already sold enough to order some more fabric pots! May try an air pot in there as well; along with one of those net pots GA suggested!

Here's the Pro-Mix Ultimate! Not my first choice but it's available readily and I've been at it with it now for nearly a year!

Here is 12 pounds of the Pro-Mix Ultimate:

Here rice hulls are being added. I end up adding 4 pounds of rice hulls to the 12 pounds of Pro-Mix.

It smells great. I brew beer. This smell like beer brewing. Mixed with fresh dirt. Fresh brewed dirt beer. Mmmmmm. <drooling noises>

The rice hulls REALLY make a difference in the weight of the soil; a handful of the Pro-Mix compared to the same handful mixed with the rice hulls is night and day different in the weight (the rice hull mixture obviously much lighter.)

I filled 6 of the 3 gallon pots with the mixture but ran out of rice hulls; will get enough tomorrow to fill the other 4 bags and then that's 10 pots under the light!

As to the question as to where I'm getting the rice hulls; I get them locally through a brewing store shop in my city. They usually sell by the pound on-line and in retail shops; now I've seen it range from $1 per pound in bulk 50 pound bags (which you then stuff in your mouth, zip shut the ball gag (the safety word is Banana,) then take it in the shorts on shipping,) to around $2 to $2.50 for most on-line brewing shops. I would recommend Northern Brewer if you're in the USA; they have flat rate shipping on most of their stuff (rice hulls included) and I think they are about $2.50 per bag, so 15 bags at $30 plus 7 or 8 bucks flat rate to ship? Not too shabby if you don't have a brew shop nearby.

SoH i have those same pots and in the 5 gal size. Like you said they are Very durable even though Thin. My 3 gals iv had for about a year and a half and all are still surviving.

Enjoy.

I love that idea of Rice Hulls i cant stand perlite dust.

That is a wicked looking medium SOH thanks for the input
