Son of Hobbes tests Mars II 1600W 5W LED + Mars Grow Tent + Mephisto Genetics + Terrestrial Bean Com

Soh let's hope those 3 gallon pots are not like the deal on 5 2 gallon ones they are really 1 gallon

You know they make those rope ratchets in bigger sizes I've seen ones for 1/2" rope . But with that beast I'd say a hoist like you'd use to string up a deer

Yes Yoda, the monster is heavy, the net weight is around 14.7kg, and also with veg and bloom bottom to help control the different grow periods' needs, during veg, turn only the veg bottom on, during flowering, turn both veg and bloom bottoms on. :d5:
SoH are the lights heavy? As I got a Cali works light that's heavy and also
one that does veg and bloom these almost sound similar ?

If i can make a suggestion. next grow get sunshine mix number 4 it just has perlite and no vermiculite You will have allot less heat so no need for water retention you will use your food quicker and maximise the size of yer crop. pro mix bx is great for outdoors and HPS

Evening everyone! Been a busy week but getting a move on with some things!

SoH are the lights heavy? As I got a Cali works light that's heavy and also
one that does veg and bloom these almost sound similar ?

The light is very heavy compared to my 1000W HPS w/ vented hood. It's not like unwieldy or anything, but my first instinct/thought when I picked up the package the light came in was "Holy SHIT this is heavy." The mail man said "Holy SHIT this is heavy." My mrs said, "Holy SHIT. The mailman said it was heavy, so I said please carry it inside for me. But it LOOKED heavy!"

Anyways, I actually had another problem with one of the tension clips provided with the light (I just took some pictures, should have them up soon.) I'm fixing it with some carabiner clips from the hardware store; just a bit of peace of mind for me. Ended up going with chain; I've ALWAYS used rope ratchets in the past and they could probably do the job here; but the weight of the light and conventional wisdom says "don't take the chance."

The light still produces heat though; that's not something that's totally gone away from. I've got two 400 watt HPS lights running in a tent next to this one, so heat is still a bit of a bugger for me to deal with. Just installed the big window A/C this last week; so will soon be firing that on, but I think the time has come for the HPS to finally be shown the door! Just tired of the heat, heat, heat. Worked for a long time, now it's time for something new or better!

Hell ya Hobbs gonna rock this grow!!!!

Heck yeah buddy! :hump: The temptation to fill this tent full of plants has started to grow! :hump:

Soh let's hope those 3 gallon pots are not like the deal on 5 2 gallon ones they are really 1 gallon

I was going to order 25 of the 3 gallons and a bunch of the 1 gallon fabric pots, but then thought "welllllll let's maybe see what kind of quality these are before shelling out the dough." I'm still keen on trying some air pots, but the price tag just has me going "blahhhhhh!" with every thought of it lol... maybe I'll splurge on a 5 gallon air pot or two. Keep 'em for big mamba bajamba's.

Do you use these? They work pretty well?

If i can make a suggestion. next grow get sunshine mix number 4 it just has perlite and no vermiculite You will have allot less heat so no need for water retention you will use your food quicker and maximise the size of yer crop. pro mix bx is great for outdoors and HPS

I'll keep a lookout for Sunshine Mix No 4; I've always used Pro Mix BX in the past with my HPS and I LOVED it. I found the Pro Mix Ultimate Organic mix locally here and it's cheap; that's actually primarily why I've started using that. I'll be utilizing the rice hulls in place of the perlite; and I have a ton of rice hulls; so if the mix at 30% doesn't seem right; I can always adjust in the future more.

Appreciate the advice brother; definitely open to new ideas on this new adventure!

Evening fellas and ladies! Getting to it; germinated a few beans tonight! Have Terrestrial Bean Company "Cheesus Dragons" and Mephisto Genetics "Sour Bubblin Crack" at the ready and waiting to hopefully germ and pop in a day or two!

I like the packaging on here, but had to gnaw through the glue to get the packaging open  No worries about beans coming out of that baby though! :hump: I'll be sending my dental bills to GA6. :Gary:

I thought this was kind of interesting; the passive air intakes are covered with velcro outlined strips, so you can peel it completely off or just have them on part of the way!

The tension clip here bent out forward while hanging; so basically if any weight falls on that side, it would possibly slide the hook right out of the ring on the light, losing support on that side.

So I'm going to replace them with carabiner clips. I know these won't break and it will make me feel safer!

Now to replace the two 400 watt HPS

Looking forward to more manageable temperatures!

While we're waiting, here's a tidbit of the goings-on in another tent:

The purplish one is a Magic Dragon x P. Jem and the other is a Dutch Passion Durban Poison!

Thanks for sharing SoH, that is really nice! :Gary:
Forget to say, I really like the purple Magic Dragon x P. Looks awesome! :kusht:

This thread is bad ass btw..Just thought I would say that. I love your style of posting SoH. Cheers brother.:Sharing One:

Nice new gear! I can't wait to see that light in action!:goodluck:

Great setup Hobbes, i can repeat some advice Tang gave recently on one of his threads regarding LED growing.

Humidity : 40% all the way through the grow
Veg phase : Temperature 80f
Bloom phase : Temperature 85f

I am testing that advice with my current grow.

Out of interest, why run a 1600W LED when you could get a 75W LED (Grow Northern) that is proving to be a fantastic performer ?

And what is the real draw of the light ?

atb,

steely
