Hows it going this is my second post on AFN and i need some answers from the people that know autoflowers best. ok so i know full duplex gives his whole recipe but im looking for something a little simpler because were im from i havent heard of some of that stuff and my indoor supply guy is telling me to use his expensive shi*. So im pretty sure a senior AFN guy told me to switch to fertilizer for a reply to my first thread and i asked a quistion and still havent gotten a reply. so i thought id start a new post asking others opinions beacuse i have a pot of plain potting soil that i was gonna use for my second lady which finally cracked out of its shell and has a tiny tail. BUT if recommended otherwise i can get a new recipe today and put my lady in tomorrow.. also how long do most of you let the tail get before planting in soil i waited til it was just under an inch last time and it sprouted within 2 days any other suggestions?
I'm just a newbie grower looking for others approach any help will be appreciated. im gonna start a new thread in the appropriate area with my whole setup, feeding, lights and growth schedule once i get it going so i can give ideas for stealth small grows and also take ideas..(what is the appropriate thread i should post my second grow in? im still getting used to AFN.)

As long as the seed pops open and you see the tail coming out, she should be ready to go. Waiting too long risks damaging it while transferring to medium.

No real help on the soil options tho man, sry.

If you are in the US you could be lazy like me and buy a bag of pre-mixed fox farm ocean forest. I personally lplant my seeds when the tails are between 1/4 and 1/2 an inch. But I have planted seeds with taproots well over an inch long and they came up just fine. Also make sure u mix in something like perlite with whatever medium you choose to make the medium less compact. If you do go with fox farm ocean forest, I reccomend starting the seed in something with less nutes (like fox farm light warrior or jiffy seed starter) and then tierimg it into the ffof. Hope this helps a little

Thanks im gonna see if i can find that ffof tomorrow. How big should i let it grow before i put into ffof?

2 weeksish... alot of ppl wait til they see male or female parts and then transplant.

If you can get some Pro Mix HP you can grow in it without any other amendments. Or you can use it as a base to build a soil mix on. Three parts Pro Mix to 1 part perlite and 1 part composted manure, guano or worm castings. Since Pro Mix contains very little nutrients you must them supply them through your feedings.

Waiting till your seeds have a 1" tap root is a little long. They can be planted as soon as the seed cracks and the tap root shows. Personally I like to get them into the soil by the time they are 1/4" long.

thanks Muddy im actually gonna go get some perlite today after work and look for fox farm ocean forest but if i cant find ffof im gonna look for the pro mix you said is pro mix made by a certain brand? ill probably be planting my seed tomorow i just looked at it and its about 1/8" right now so ill wait til tomorow to drop it in.. i wasnt gonna use the mix im grabbing today but do you think it will be fine to start my seedling in organic soil instead of jiffy mix??

It would be best if you can get soil with little to no nutes in it for starting seedling espically autos sense their kinda more sensitive than photoperiod strains. Then teir into a soil with more ferts or use nutes to feed the plants. Organic is good but doesnt always mean better. try to get FF light warrior mix to start seeds in then tier or transplant into FF ocean forest. Sometime Ocean forest can be to hott for your seedlings. One more thing, do you own a digital ph pen ? to be quite honest not having a ph pen will be a waste if your buying extra nutes to feed your plants and going out of your way to get the right soil. If your ph is out of whack it wont matter how good your soil or nutes are in the end they wont grow to their full potential. Dont take my words lightly so far my mistake not having my ph pen has prolly cost me around 80-110$ by now :( Good luck I hope you can find the stuff you need.
