Up Date from the Garden

Time for an update and to see where we are at in the loft garden...

So whats new... Last week in the loft garden we have had a wonderful harvest, my first ever mono run with a cut of Maple Sherbet x Pre 89 skunk bred by Seedstockers (photoperiod). I found this cut in a pack of 6 seeds gifted by @DutchPassionTony for a grow out on AFN, thank you again Tony. All 6 sprouted and all 6 produce a full tent of amazing dank bud (just look back through the journal to see the pics) but one of the lady's stuck out like a sour thumb.

She wasn't the biggest in the tent by a long way but there was something very different about her (she stank, dripping with the dank) so I kept her on a wimp.... And I'm so glad I did... I have never smelt, tasted a plant like this in my smoking carer. Not even in The Dam did I find a turp profile like this one. She has such a strong Lemon turp profile that its to die for. Its so lemony that we have had to rename her "Lemon Cello". Sorry @Seedstockers_Mischa but that title (Maple Sherbet x Pre 89 skunk) is way too much of a mouth full and she is such a special phenotype she needed her own identity and name, so Lemon Cello stuck... I've even been brave and let a couple of experienced growers with years under their belt into my garden to come and have a look and smell. I wanted their professional opinion... They said in there history of growing they have never smelt a plant like it, ever... she has to be something a bit special if they be saying that, I trust their word.

She has not only got the best lemon turps I've come across, her rosin runs golden with about a 50% return when made from bubble hash. The Bubble hash it makes is absolutely divine with wonderful undertones of lemons to smell and taste, again a quality of hash way beyond any thing I have ever tried or seen in my life time and after about 4 months on the cure the hash just melts into a dark brown gooey oily mess...mmmmm tasty... I have even let some escape to the out side world (just to good to keep to my self) and man the reaction I got was mind blowing. It blew everyone's mind who tried (not too hard seen as we are still deep in prohibition times in the UK), It made people who have given up start up again and it even made an Egyptian guy cry because it reminded him of the hash he could get back home in the day... I call that a success if my hash can make man cry for his home land.

So watch out fellow UK growers, if we do ever get a High Times cup or something of the similar in this country your looking at my entry... I also plan to have a play and see if we can't turn her into an auto flower sometime down the line with my breeding program that is just starting.

Have fun people, grow safe, keep it green and I will...

Hahaha :crying: Lemon Cello is a pretty name ! Really nice review on this super lemon pheno ! I love lemon weed, so I am jealous that you have this special pheno !! Thanks a lot for you review ! I think I can smell the lemon from my computer:cool1:

Awesome Looking Buds Bro!!:worship::thumbsup::smokeout:

 Very nice :slap:

thank you guys

Tell us more about your Lemon Cello bro! How does it smoke? Feel? Aside from taste? What occassion is it best suited for? Strong?

Don't know much about Cup winning strains as I'm a bloody newb. But can I be the first in line to try your strain? When you breed too many seeds, remember to send some my way!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have no idea what a cup winning strain is like but like I've said this one is like I've never seen before. I'm beginning to understand now what a special cut may have that makes it special.... if that make sense

On the smoke report, I'm saving that for after the cure with pics of the hash and any rosin made.

Man Slater, tent full of beautys and stank to heavem, hope u had some helping hands for harvest. Love your description of Lemon Cello!

Ha ha I wish i had some helping hands for the trim in a couple of weeks, shouldn't take me long getting faster with each harvest. It was an easy chop down seen as I dry trim, what I would love help in is the re set. All that cleaning, washing out, tweaking the set up and recently rebuilding the irrigation system... for the last time I hope.

UP DATE FROM THE GARDEN

The Floganics final up date with final thoughts and grow review of Amnesia by seedstockers ( @Seedstockers_Mischa )

First off I would like to apologise for slacker Slater, and that this post has been a long time coming, I'm doing my very best to live up to my hero from the film... no not really, its the summer holidays and the kids are at home and I've been making the most of it. Plus Its been good to hold of until I got a decent cure on the bud for the best review and I'm glad I did. Please read on.

End of the grow -

Well we did have a bit of action at the end... I got bud rot. So the lady's had to come down I would say a week early for some of the Remo fed plants but the 2 Florganic pots where pretty well much finished at 9 weeks. I wanted to take the space to 10 weeks.

I know what caused the rot, my environment was not tweaked and ready for the time of year and dam that flipping UK weather... warning to any new grower from the UK, as you head into August and through September the RH rises hugely and if you are not careful your tents will be hitting 80-90% after lights off. My best advice, make sure you have plenty of air movement and switch your heating on during lights off. Set your temps to about 26c-27c and you will drop the RH by a considerable amount. It is saving my bacon right now as type. I have a tent in full flower, last two weeks (bud pron up date on that tent to come next) which is the major danger zone and I've got the RH down to 63% from a ambient 75 - 80% just by using heating and no dehumidifier.

Florganics... a grow review

View attachment 945022

It was the lady up front and to the left that got the rot, found 2 colas over a 48hr period then I called it quits. But still they did turn out very nice indeed... I loved the grow with Florganics, I kinda wish it was there at the start of my adventures in growing. Its a complete no brainer for the newbie, a complete no brainer if you want to get into organics, a complete no brainer for the ultra lazy grower. All round if your thinking of organics this is what you need to be growing with. Its so simple, just follow instructions to the letter, mix it up with your chosen medium and add preferably RO water. Sit back and watch it grow... so so simple
I want to talk more about the complexity's of the grow but I didn't do any thing bar water when needed by using the pot lifting trick. The mix I did was the perfect amount to keep the plants going right until they wanted to cannibalise them selves. It was a perfect ratio for a 9 to 10 week finisher (please remember that these are not auto's and are photoperiods so you may encounter a possibility that you may need to top dress with an auto that likes to go for a long time). I started to get really good fade oo the lady back right hand corner, another week and she would have gone all the way.

Over all conclusion, so easy you can't go wrong as long as your environment is reasonably dialed in.

Now this was never really a test between organics and as some would say "salt" / "chem" based nutes (why those terms are used I don't know, no salt in my nutes and no chemicals. If there was my plants would be dead.) but seen as I was growing side by side I couldn't help but make comparisons with my usual style of growing, coco, run to waste with Remo nutrients.

Firstly they are two completely different growing styles and hands down the Floganic wins for ease of growing. It was always going to win that medal, its a water and walk away grow. No fussing. But where I did find some comparisons is in growth, buds size, turp profile...

disclaimer before I go on... this was a seed grow and not from clones so my findings are just purely observational and have no real standing.

On the growth I found the Florganic pots to be ahead of the Remo fed pots all the way, even to point I would say they finished a good week earlier than the Remo side... dam that bud rot, really did want to find that out... also I want to point out that the only microbes used on the Remo side was Mammoth P. If i had been using Urb which I do now I think they would have been on par with each other on time scale... its all about the microbes.

Bud size, now this is where Remo wins, over all they where that little bit bigger. Calyx size was bigger, they fox tailed a little more than the Florganics. Density of the buds was the same between both but that's the light... man you got to love those HLG quantum boards, produces rock hard nugs... Strain dependent / grower skills of course.

Turp profile is where they differed the most (again remember this grow is from seed). Now there is no V's here, turp profile is purely personal to the grower / smoker. There are so many variables you can not really compare the two growing styles but for observation sake the Remo side was a sweet fruit punch candy turp with one of the girls taking on a that grape soda smell (loved that one) and the Florganics was more of sickly earthy candy shop smell. Had under tones of sweet mushrooms.

Amnesia by seedstockers a very quick review - Very easy to grow, not a massively heavy feeder and she can stretch quite a bit. A good 100% with the stretch going well into the 3rd week. Expect tall plants with fruity turps with phenos all taking on a similar look with slight different turp profiles. A nice and stable strain. Will do full strain review in the review section of AFN.

The final cure / smoke review... Remo V's Floragnics

Remo bud... not the best example i was in a rush

Turps...
Now I'm going to be careful here again Turp profile is very objective and very personal to the smoker. I would even say the smokers ideology's may even affect their decision on the subject... The reason I say this is that I did a little experiment on who ever visited the house. I got all party's to smell both jars and tell me which they liked the most. I didn't tell some of them which jar was which. Every one that knew which jar was which chose the Florganics jar but all the testers that didn't know which jar was which chose the Remo jar first... your ideology's effect you so much when deciding things to a point where they take over your discussion by making them for you. I'm not trying to draw conclusions between the both I'm just trying to point out that you can be easily swayed but your life style and the ideology's you follow... a lot of my friends you would say are leaning towards the hippie way of life.

Back to the turp profile...

Remo fed plants has wonderful fruity bouquet of fruit salad sweets (closest rival across the pond, the jolly rancher) with under tones of grape. Very fruit and very sweet smelling.

Florganics is a fruity lemon with huge undertones of truffle... I pick up on a little sick as well, like you have just puked up some fruity sweets.

On the smoke they both smoke well, taste real nice and neither is stronger than the other. I can't choose between them as they are both great in there own rights with both bringing something different to the table... on another note I now know why they call it Amnesia, that shit is strong.

Phew... glad that is over, man that was a monster up date. Before i sign off I would like to say a huge thank you to my main man @TheMongol for setting me up with this test of Florganics. Loved the grow and when I move house I think Florganics will be used for my pure organics tent. Thank you sir, very much appreciated.

Remember people, grow safe , keep it green and I will

Dude, best review I have ever read period!
Also top notch growing! Extremely impressed.
Would give you a 1000 rep points if I could.
:slap:

Peace

You're killing it with your updates and reports dude, really nice writing and pics . What to say about your growing, you got it dialed in and that Lemon Chello sure looks like a winner :d5::slap:.

Got some questions about Zombie Kush and Granddady Confidential Kush, if you don't mind :pass:. Got any idea what kind of flower stretch I should expect for the two? Medium, 50-100%? And flowering times approx.? And of course, add any special hints or knowledge about the strains if you have, much appreciated :toke:.

thanks @Ryker604_BT , might start doing video up dates soon. Saving up for a few bits of kit, gimbal and a half decent studio mic before I get started.

yes i can give you plenty on the Zombie, she is a light feeder so lay off those nutes by a good half... I locked out my first grow by over feeding (only at around 1000 to 1200ppm), didn't even see any nute burn just super dark green leaves. Pulled an embarrassing yeild should have been at least double what i got... on the second grow cut the nutes near in half and smashed it out of the park (700ppms at the highest)... I did remove the kelp from the line up second time round to bring the N down. I only use it in veg now and as a folia spray.
Not to much on the stretch about 60 to 80%.
Watch out for a dodgey pheno that starts of great then just doesn'y go any where, very light spike buds is super frosty. Apart from that pheno they where all pretty similar with some being a bit more golf ball like than others...around the start to the middle of week 8 for the chop
Expect hard dense nugs with wonderful hue's of purple that's super dusty with trics... After a good cure of 2 months the buds take on a strong blackberry smell and has to be one of the nicest smokes I've had... so I popped a another lot just the other day to find a keeper, a mini pheno hunt... will be the next installment for the garden journal

On the granddaddy I wouldn't want to say to much, I had a few issue with thew grow that where my fault, so I don't think I got the true performance out each plant. Couple stretched loads (about 80%) and the others hardly at all. Probably could have fed them a little less... All produce well but again I recon If i hadn't had the issues I would have seen bigger buds... but still, what a smoke man!
