Mephisto Genetics Seymourbud's Soapbox

Day 30 and 28 - Sweet and Sour Dragon - I was hoping for an even mix of male and female, but from the 30 Day look of the plants, doesn't appear to be a male in the mix, YET. These are 5 very uniform plants at the moment, there doesn't appear to be that one plant that was sprinting out of the gate that you could assess as a male. A few are starting to show pre-flowers, the remainders will show their sex by the end of the week. The later three Sweet and Sour Dragons are only on Day 15, but look like the mirror image of these at Day 15.

Day 14 - Sweet and Sour Dragon #6, #7, and #8 - These plants are a couple weeks behind the first 5 I started. They are very uniform, nothing is bursting out vertically to reach the sky. Hoping I don't wind up with 8 ladies, but I guess that wouldn't be the worst thing to happen. It would just put my plans to backcross to a Sour Stomper female and a Sweet and Sour female on the backburner until the early fall.

Amazing work fella!

Do you have any guides/write up as to your method of breeding, producing and harvesting seeds?

Thanks @jumper114 . I do not have a guide, just read everything I could find here at AFN and at the Portal. I opted against reversing females only because it introduced another level of complexity and timing which I wasn't prepare to do. Decided to find good genetics that were autoflower reg and go at it au natural. I think to date I have collected 25-30 auto-regs to use as my pollen donors. I save pollen whenever I can, and keep it frozen until use. After reading, I only dethaw the pollen once, then toss it as I have read a combination of freezing and thawing and too many months frozen drops the success rate of the pollen. Just read, and do what works for you based on what you read. The minimun time a pollinated plant will remain alive to mature seeds is 6 weeks for me. I will go longer if need be. Germ rate is right at 90% for the seeds I have made. But I don't screen my seeds for keepers, they are all keepers in my book.

Here is the Sweet & Sour Stone Dragon family in the main flowering cabinet. The 8 SSSD ladies range between 19" and 24", there are several others in cabinet #2. The older gals seem to be having some deficiency. I originally thought that it was a CalMag deficiency based on the autocobs and that I use RO water. This has been a common theme in my grows, but usually later on when it doesn't matter as much. These girls are showing the deficiency at the end of week 6 (D42). You can see the younger lady shows no sign of it as she is starting week 5 (D29). I have upped additional CalMag to 2tsp per gallon instead of 1. Going to keep an eye on them for the next several days to see if it helps.

This is the other cabinet, there are 2 Sweet & Sour Dragon ladies on Day 29, and in the middle is a RocBudInc Frosted Cookie on Day 18. Both of these SSSD are close to 24" tall with a really open structure. No deficiency with these gals yet.

Chop Day - Day 74 - SSSDg (x 4)

So, timing was right to allow me to work outside today to do some trimming. Cloudy, cool, high70's to 80dgf. Decided that waiting an extra day or two would not change the bud dramatically, so I went ahead and chopped four (4) of the SSSDg (Sweet & Sour x Stone Dragon - green pheno). Very sticky, almost greasy. I thought being outside the smell would dissipate more so then it has when doing it inside. When the wifey came back from walking the dog, she informed me she could smell it as she came up the walk to the front door. I was on the back deck. So she has great aroma. Very reminiscent of Stone Dragom, with a slight sour acid-like citrus. To me, very appealing. Since this was mt first run with this seed, there was no training, they grew au natural. The growth pattern and shape were typical to Stone Dragon's I have run in the past. There was quite a bit of leafage andquite a bit of under-developed buds down low and in the middle. I spent almost six hours trimming, since rain was expected by the afternoon, so no wet weight were taken. That means no estimated dry weight either. But my best guess would put total haul dry for the 4 plants in 1 gallon containers to be about 5.5 to 6 ounces.

These were the least affected plants by my mistakes with the failed TDS meter and the nute toxicity. Now to some pictures...

Some nice bud right there. They look very SD dominant in structure. It will be interesting to hear about effects.
