Mephisto Genetics Seymourbud's Soapbox

In my humble opinion, taking most Autos that long can greatly increase the chances of Bud rot. If you notice leaves dieing off, that can be a sign of the plant wanting to be done. Also, chasing Amber trichs on Autos is different than photos IMO. Autos degrade faster, and once that starts you are at higher risk of issues. I can tell by the picture that your leaves are dieing. Dead leaves can cause your Bud rot. Just looking out for you, so you don't lose Colas to it. Good luck, peace slowandeasy

Indeed, I had the same issue with my Black Dragons, for virtually the same reasons. I like to leave my autos long flowering. Will have to calm it myself.

Good Afternoon, had the final chop day of my Stone Dragon late summer run. This was a girl that started life a bit behind as she actually self-topped. So it was only logical to me to give her some extra time. In this case, she went 105 days as I wanted one of my SD girl to go extra long since I have read that SD when taken that long can be quite narcotic. To me that sounds like, perfect sleep medicine. Since I already had over 7 zips in jars with varying days of harvest from 84 days to 95 days, I settled on her being possibly evaluated and chopped at day 105.

She had some dead sugar leaves, but overall she held up well during this extended flowering. No sign of Budrot (thank goodness) as I had founf some BR on one of the earlier SD I harvested. There was some smaller popcorn-like buds that I didn't have on the SD that were harvested with less flowering days, but not so much to be of significant note. Wet weight of the trimmed bud was 140grams, so I estimate ~35grams dry weight. This brings the total for the completed SD summer/fall run to 8.25 zips. Couldn't be happier. Have already been sampling the first SD harvested and she isn't quite as knockout as I hoped. She is very good, and I wake up refresh with no "hangover". Enjoying my nighttime meds by deacring with my Ardent Nova, and micro-dosing based on % of THC to achieve desired effect. Currently increasing the % of THC per cap for the Stone Dragon, while I am also decreasing the %of THC for the Strawberry Nuggets Purple Pheno. It's a personal thing, but I am getting there for most of the varieties I am growing to help with insomnia.

Gorgeous Fall colors/fade @Seymourbud . I’ll bet 100+ days will lead to some great zzzzs. How did your 24Ct xSD work for that purpose? Regardless, you’ve got a great stash of top shelf, and the beans for a lifetime.

Thanks @BCBudlady , I do have quite a few seeds to play with. And I haven't run any of the 24Ct x SD cross, YET! I just popped 4 more Bluestone, and all are above the soil. So that's a great sign. I am thinking that I will run 2 of my spring cross next in 1.5 gallon pots. Leaning towards 24Ct x SD and BTS x SD. I have some back-end time constraints on these beans I am starting, +/- 75 days, so I need to get them going this week. I am hoping this will be enough time for a cross of BTS to SD and 24Ct to SD to produce nighttime meds. If not, I will gift out to friends.

Probably cutting it close on time unless you soak tonight. I hope you journal your BlueStone. There hasn’t been that many threads and it is such a great strain.
I’m sure your friends will be hoping they go longer:crying:

I would like to share some testing I did last night. Because I didn't want to commit a full growing window to CBD plants without the knowledge that it would be helpful for me, I decided to make a purchase of CBD bud online to see what all the fuss is about. I purchased 3 different grams from Tweedle Farms, as I have read from users and reviewers that they seem to be one of (if not) the top players in online CBD sales of flowers.

So, long story short, 4 healthy rips from Frosted Lime (Cannabinoid Content: 13% CBDa & less than .02% Δ9 THC, Dominant Terpenes: βCaryophyllene, Ocimene, Myrcene, Limonene) at 8pm, followed by (around 9pm) my normal micro-dose of SNPP cap, and I was out like a light before 9:30. SAlept like a baby until 2:45am. 30 minutes of restlessness, then back to sleep (just not as soundlythis time) until 6:15am. All in all, for me, a very relaxing and energizing night of rest. I know it might have been better had I used one of the other varieties I purchased which were more indica hybrids, but thats another experiment for another day. One of the criteria for selecting the 3 strains I did was the inclusion of ocimene. This is from a leafly.com regarding ocimene and some of the earlyfinding of ocimene. While ocimene was not the primary terpene, there was enough ocimene in the sample to be significant and noted. So for the first testing, I think it has a lot of potential to help with my issues of insomnia, pain relief, while also helping as an anti-inflammatory. The benefits that might be available to diabetes type 2 patients and hypertension patient are just icing on the cake for me.

BTW - the sample tasted incredible. very citrusy and limey. Vaped the flower through a dynavap. Really good. Very clear headed, with a small buzzt hat was noticeable without having the thc effect.

The potential benefits of ocimene
This 2014 study shows that ocimene derived from flowers of the Citrus Unshiu plant, a close relative of the mandarin orange, had highly effective anti-inflammatory properties. For the study, a chemical composition analysis of the essential oils of the flowers was performed via gas chromatography- mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
The study revealed that ocimene made up 5.6% of the oil’s chemical constituency. The study also found supporting evidence that these oils have the potential to suppress the production of several different inflammatory substances emitted by the immune system.
Further research indicates that ocimene may help treat symptoms of diabetes by inhibiting the proliferation of key enzymes. In this 2013 study, GC-MS analysis of the essential oils of black pepper seeds revealed ocimene as a key constituent. This oil was shown to have anti-oxidative properties as well as the ability to inhibit key enzymes connected to type 2 diabetes and hypertension.

As promised, my spring chucking of Stone Dragon (m) x 24 Carat (f) produced about 80 seeds. I started 4, and I ended up with 2 females ( and 2 males). These girls are on day 50. They are both squat indica leaning plants, although the SD x 24CT #3 is a bit taller and definitely has a more open structure with less leaves. They are being fed MegaCrop (3g) and Bud Explosion (1g), with ppm being just over 500 thanks to the use of RO water. My tap water measures in at over 250ppm. My goal was to create a sleepytime indica to help put me to sleep, but more importantly either keep me asleep or get me back to sleep when I awake in the middle of the night. I have great hope for this cross. #3 cross in the first picture will be on the left.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Time to document the other plants I have going on in the cab.

4 Assed Monkey - Day 55 - This plant has been a story of true survival. This whole grow was planned so that it would be completed by the end of February. For safety precautions. 4AM, along with the other seeds all popped within a couple of days using my tried and true germination method, but then after a couple of days, I noticed she had stalled after producing nothing more then her cotyledons. And she stalled and stalled, and...you get it right? Well, I have never been one to give up easily on a seed, so I pushed her to the back corner of the cab, continued to water her when necessary, but had little hope of survival when the new year started and she had been stalled for almost 3 weeks. Then on Jan 6, 24 days after breaking soil, she started to grow again. This was a most excellent update to the story, but at the same time meant she was not going to finish on time. A new dilemma. So she started to act like the 25 day was all part of the plan, she grew to a smallish-medium size of 13", and began flowering about 2 weeks ago. My original plans were to use her as female for making seeds with some Stone Dragon pollen or my DTC pollen, but since I had never tasted her flowers, I decided to let her grow out. So here she is today, day 55 of life and day 12(?) of flower. I have defoliated her a bit and that along with her open structure mean I have not had to do much training. They say that good things come to those who wait, so I am excited for her to finish.

Bluestone Day 75:

Two other plants I have going in the cabinet, and are almost ready to chop, are two Bluestone's. Similar to the last time I grew these out as testers for @Stone , they have been a pleasure to grow. Unlike other purple/blue/black varieties I have grown, the Bluestone's do not balk at "aggressive" feeding regimen. While I did not follow an aggressive feeding regimen this time, after going back and reviewing the journal for my last grow of these, I treated them no differently then any other plant in the cab. I have done several defoliations with these plants to open up the lower stalk and flowers to some air and light, I also did not LST for the same reason. I am thinking they are within a week or so from the chop. Not going to let them go to Day 90 like last time. I did so with hopes of using that Bluestone as nighttime meds. While she put me down, she didn't keep me down and when I did awaken I struggled to get back to sleep. So while I believe this strain to be good for relaxing and mood adjustment, I don't believe her to be a candidate for those who may have insomnia issues like myself.

Now the positives about this girl, she smells like a fruit stand, with the primary aroma being blueberry. She has a strong scent, and I suggest if growing her you may need some filtering. The last 7-10 days have really seen her swelling, and starting to push new pistils on some of the buds. My buddies all rave about her, and I think that is primarily because of her ability to uplift your mood. She is a winner in my book, that why I ran her again in such short time even though I have too many seeds to mention.
