Mephisto Genetics Seymourbud's Soapbox

24 Carat - Day 91 - Chop day - from her humble beginnings, when she just stopped growing vertically at day 5 or 6, she has become my poster child for never culling a slow starter. Although many had told me to cull her and start another, she was healthy and I couldn't do that to her. So I shuffled her off to the corner, and I did successfully start another. Then the impossible semed to happen around Day 17, she began to show signs of vertical growth. And by Day 25, she was once again a normal female cannabis plant growing to her breeders suggested height. width, and yield (at least on the low side of the yield).

She is very pungent, she stunk the garage out during trimming. She is very sticky, I had to clean the shears and my gloves multiple times during the 1 hour + trimming session. But I can tell you I was never more proud of a harvested lady then I was of this girl. I gave her RO water the last 8-10 days and she had just started to show some lovely colors of her fade. The final wet trim numbers suggest that the dry weight for this lady will be around 40 grams, so not to shabby for a one gallon soil planter in my enviroment. The buds are now in paper bags getting their "dry" on. There wasn't much amber that I could see on the buds, but quite a bit on the sugar leaves. I am hoping for some "lights out" full indica nighttime relief from these BOG + Mephisto genetics. Smoke report to come around July 4th, stay tuned. Now the pictures.....

Great, chunky buds! My all time favorite lights out strain. Enjoy! Excited to hear how the SD cross turns out.

Well, I am enjoying a new way of sampling the fruits of my labor. I have spent the weekend micro-dosing decarboxylated mmj put directly into gelatin caps. It really does take the edge right off the day. Smooth sailing compared to my usual weekend days. Finally splurged and bought a "slightly" used Ardent Nova to fully, and correctly, decarboxylate my meds without any smell whatsoever. I was able to use the Ardent out on the back deck to keep the house from stinking. I have done 1 gram each of the following strains; Gold Glue, Blue Toof Special, and Ghost Toof. I figured I would use the BTS strictly for night, and the GT strictly for day. The GG seems like a good hybrid to me for anytime. Caps are filled with ~5.5 to 7 Milligrams of thc (according to my math), leaving me fully functional and clear headed and able to go about my day. Seems they start working around 45 minutes after ingestion and last 2-3 hours, although the zen-like feeling and calmness seem to last even longer. Really enjoying this delivery system more then any I have tried yet (had settled on vapcaps and induction heating). And getting the right dosage on the first try is just a bonus. Haven't tried two yet, but can see that happening very soon. These will be perfect for the family beach vacation, work, tailgating, shows/concerts. Can't wait to further test!

Day 80 - Bluestone

I wanted to show off my "swoled up" girl. I haven't given an update in the last two weeks, and looking at the pictures she has certainly been busy during that time. She is an absolute stunner. She is starting to fade a bit, although I haven't altered her feeding regimen. I may go to reduced MegaCrop grams for the final week or so. She is currently, and has been for the last 5 weeks or so, on a 3 grams of MC, 1 gram of Bud Explosion, and 1.5ml of CaliMagic from GH. Ph up to 6.2, and usually sits around 600-630ppm.

I am starting to see some signs of foxtailing, so that may hasten the end of this test run. I was hoping she would go between 85-95 days, as I have seen no sign of amber headies yet. Mostly cloudy with still enough clear to make me want to let her a couple of more days. I usually grow for nighttime meds, it is really important I have all cloudy headies, even more so then trying to get some amber (usually 5-15%). She smells awesome, and unlike other blue purple strains I have grown she takes a normal nute regimen without much fuss. Looking forward to imminent demise, cut, and cure so I can totally enjoy her.

Daywrecker (Grape Sex [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG] - Menage a Tyrone f2 x Double Grape f3). Third time growing this gal, as opposed to pheno [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] that is quite a bit more leafy and harder to trim. My guys keep clamoring for her. Even though she can a bit too much for me, they seem to like her higher thc/terpene profile. Nothing different to see here from the last 3 I have done. They all went 80 days, and began flopping wildly from the weight on her branches. All the previous one have yielded between 2.5 and 3 ounces from a 3 gallon airpot if memory serves me right. Her trim makes devastating kief, so there is little to no waste with this gal. Not much aroma on her unless you get up in her face and jocket her around a bit, then you are met with heavy fuel smell with maybe a slight backend of something grape/berry. She has been an all around winner, so to the kind soul who shared her with me (you know who you are), thanks again. She probably won't last week until she goes to chop.

Another Chop Day!

Deez Nuggets - Day 79 - Would have liked her to go another couple of days, but wasn't sure about the timing of having unwanted visitors around over the next week. So she had to go today. She is almost all cloudy with a couple of amber headies. She has a very unique smell to her. I sometimes sniff her and get the oranges, and almost never get any of Strawberry nuggets aroma. She is very diesely as well, but what surprised me the most is a background of some skunkiness that is never present when you sniff her, but come back to the room a bit later and there it is. Really great aromas and terps, can't wait until she is ready. Total haul right now looks to be between 53-58 grams, right around 2 ounces dry in a 3 gallon airpot.

Now to my surprise finding, looks like I may have introduced some pollen to her by accident. A couple days ago while trying to gauge her readiness for chop, I came across a fully mature seed. Then to my surprise, another. Then another, then...you get where I am going with this. Even though I tried to maintain completely isolated cabinets for breeding and flowering, I guess I carried pollen on my clothes into the flowering cabinet. And not just a little. To my surprise, during the chop and subsequent trimming, I have found about 80 fully mature seeds. Again, I am not sure how or when it happened, but Stone Dragon male pollen got to this lady.

So, it is probably a blessing that this happened as my full plant pollination of Blue Toof Special, Gold Glue, and 24 Carat seems to have not taken. There are a couple of seeds, mostly immature (even after 56 days of waiting since the actual pollination). Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed. I am thinking the pollen went bad, or maybe I dusted it to thickly on the buds, just not sure. So I was definitely buoyed by the accidental pollination of the DN and resulting 80+ seeds. I a still hopeful that there will be 10-20 seeds for each cross when it dries enough for me to break the buds apart and search, so I am holding out hope.

Now to pictures....

Last Bluestone grow update.

Chop Day - Day 90 - 240 grams wet trimmed (~60 grams dried)

Nothing but great things to say about the last 90 days spent with this lady. She handled the nute regimen I employed ( to lessen my work I like to use only one working formula for all plants started at or near the same time). Most, if not all 'blue" varieties I have grown had very adverse reactions to even normal levels of added nutes (salt-based), and showed it with clawing, burnt tips. She handled them and didn't get fussy. There was zero, I mean none, popcorn buds or underdeveloped buds. This could be due to the extended period of flowering I took her. On average, I would say I normally take most plants to around 75 days (+/- 5 days). This girl went a full 90 days. Almost no foxtailing, something I have seen with other "blue" strains. An absolute joy to trim, as I spent just around 60 minutes first chop to last snip. If the reported smoke tests are accurate for this girl as well, she will be a top 5 strain. She will be run again this fall/winter, but I hope to find a male and collect some pollen.

Outstanding grow, journal and photos @Seymourbud ! I am absolutely thrilled with her too. Mine went 85 with the lowers going to 90. I’ll be running BlueStone in the Fall too...Great job!!!!

Great looking stuff man, I live seeing another pollen chucker making some exciting crosses.

I just pulled my recent crosses out of the fridge. Purple Nugget x SD, over 200 SD seeds, and a spoonful of Orange Diesel x SD crosses.

This fall will be one Mephisto for the grow battle final, and ton of Portal strains with some more pollen chucking.

I got a bunch of White Obsidian and V4 testers from Stone to play with this fall.

Your an inspiration brother, keep it up!

@BCBudlady , yep, you killed your Bluestone grow. Some beautiful flowers you produced. Hopefully the meds are as great as we have been led to believe. But I am certain they will be, and maybe more!

@Archaic , I have learned a lot about pollen chucking in the last few months. I made some exciting (at least I think they are exciting) crosses. Just need to do some testing to make sure they are viable seeds. That will come after my last lady, HubbaBubbaSmelloscope, is harvested in the next few days. The first tests will be my Stone Dragon seeds, and my Stone Dragon x Sweet & Sour seeds. The other seeds need time to dry and mature.

Based on my Bluestone harvest, she may be the next regular autoflower I use to make a seed run. I also acquired some breeder F1's autoflower regulars, that used Black Dragon as one of the parents. So I have been chomping at the bit to run those as well. Lots of choices to make before the year ends!

Sounds like you have some great projects in mind for future cycles. I am excited at the possibility of running BlueStone in the fall, and if I get a male, making a few seeds via open pollination and return them to the community as well as hitting a few other plants in the tent at the same time. Your BlueStone is stunning and based on bud density, trichome production and the way she smells, this plant is special.
