self pollinating to create more seeds.

Hello world, I have been on slack mode the last week or so. I am still doing things half assed as everyone has already stated is NOT a good idea. I am in the same boat as most as far as not being able to afford seeds, although I have taken some slack approaches to getting this done. Originally when I came across this technique I had read people were successful with using CS on part of a plant and selfing it, although there had also been reports of hermi-ing that way, hmm, ok well I decided I would take cuttings from one DD and one TD and hope they survived and I could spray those and then pollinate the others. Well I took the cuttings and have been playing the waiting game, sucks, I don't do well playing that game, so things didn't seem to be coming along as fast as I'd like and I got a lil worried thinking I'm gonna miss my chance. So, what I've done is taken two more cuttings, I was really clearing out the underneath and decided to add those since they were a lil larger and more developed (although I still don't have too much hope) and then I also segregated one branch on one of each and started spraying it. I know everyone is saying not to spray just one branch and go from there, but I am hoping that I can spray one of each and not have an issue with screwing with the rest of the plant, and since I am growing 3 of each I figured I'd try to pollinate one of the others if I was successful at getting pollen and not ruining the plants. I have hope that this will work fine. I am wondering though about my anomaly DD, I have one DD that is two headed and looks nothing like any other DD I've ever seen. I was toying with the idea of spraying that one and then pollinating one of the others, just not sure how that will end up since she is really funky, that and she has yet to show signs of sex at day 31. I've kept her as a novelty but I am curious. So to recap I have 3-TD, 3-DD and 4 cuttings I am hoping work out but won't hold my breath, and then I am also spraying one branch each of TD and DD and hope for good results. Really I'm doing it both ways (kinda) just not trying to reverse an entire plant. I don't have pics yet since I've just started spraying this week, oh and again for those who want to know, I took the lazy way and ordered some 50ppm CS that was recommended, however I will be making my own in the future if (when) things work out :)
Any questions and or comments please feel free. If you wanna see pics of the setup and plants you can click the link below to my most recent grow.
Thanks and I will be updating this when I start to see some results-or not..

Fantastic FreeLivin! Keep us updated for sure! I am really excited to see the results!

Looks great for a reversal! Good job!

If you cut a clone from a female auto. Then spray the plant with cs to start the reversal while the clone roots you may have a chance for good fem seeds.
The problem comes in the timing of it all. you would want to allow the mother to recover before spraying so it isnt stressed too much. You also have to allow the seeds to mature before harvest and the clone may not live long enough for that to happen.

It could all work out but your best bet is to start 1 of each strain and then another one of each about 10 - 14 days later. Take proper care to not kill or stress them and reverse the first 2 you started. Use that pollen to seed the other plants. That will give you the least likely chance for herms.

I would imagine the clone would not be strong enough to be misted with CS solution? It seems like it could be a double edged sword, keep it moist and change it at the same time... Just tossing it out there :)

This is why I advise against trying to self an auto. please read my post more carefully.

I was going to wait in case it was a disaster but I started a clone of my white widow last night. The mother plant is not showing any preflowers yet so I am hopeful that the timing will be good. I placed the clone in my aerogarden with rooting powder on it. Have misted it with RO water.

I decided to fertilize it with a 1/4 strength flowering nute solution, GH flora series. I did this for two reasons:

One- Everywhere I looked online about how to speed up rooting in clones brought me to suggestions that clones need phosphorus to root and that nitrogen actually can hamper the rooting process.

Two- Bob Bitchin, now known as Epic Genetics, told me on one of my threads that when reversing with CS flowering nutes should be started right after seeing first male flowers emerging. He said not anywhere near fully formed.

These two things seem to go hand in hand so hopefully they will be beneficial. I just hope that it doesn't go straight into flowering after it roots. Experiments are what they are I guess. We shall see.

I do think it's important to cut your clone before any flowering of the mother plant is taking place. You are loosing a branch but in the end I think it's worth it.

Ideally I would like to make the clone the reversal, but I really don't know if there is time for that. Either way with no preflowers there is no need to be spraying anybody at the moment.

I will update

whoa I guess I opened up a can of worms.......So I guess for my first crossing I will only spray Part of a plant and get seeds from both the cs plant and the normal plant and see what happens.

How the heck are ya??? I feel terrible, you started the thread and then it seems like we hijacked it and you have been quiet:( Sorry if we all jumped in and drowned you out! How are your experiments doing?? Any luck with reversals?

Any roots yet FreeLivin?

Neg, not so much, I actually had an accident with two of the cuttings, they fell and came out,so I was able to see that there really wasn't any formation just yet, maybe just a lil bulk was starting. On the other hand I have been spraying a singular branch on one TD now for about 6 days, so high hopes, I will then pollinate one of the other TDs and prob a DD as well. I am about to start spraying one of the lower branches on a DD as well, so I will update when I see some change.
