New Grower Second Timer - DP Auto Night Queen In DWC

Milkshake was more indica for sure, but both are still pretty heavy on the body after the first thirty minutes or so. She's a strong bitch too, watch out or she will take you down. The SB pickled something was the only pheno that had the Sativa tendencies, and I only got her one time. Although I know now why. She was the only plant under the blurple that emits UV light. I am still relatively new to LED lights and tbh they are new to the growing scene in general. @Mañ'O'Green mentioned that UV light can help increase terps. I have been doing some research and he is correct. It can significantly increase terps, resins and thc levels. My one blurple has the UV and so does my QB light, both were used in the last grow and both were involved in getting more and different results than the cobs alone.

I am purchasing a special UVB light from California Lightworks. It will be on a timer giving them around a couple hours each day building up to about five or six hours or so at the peak time in the end. It has been known to increase all these things by as much as 40%!! Yep, you saw it, 40% bro...that's huge. I am buying a light and also adding some organic elements to my next grow as well, and eventually I will go into soil and full organic for my fall grow this year. Chasing flavor indoors is a bitch. Outside there was only the issue of weather and waiting for a long time, but flavor was never a problem. Hydro is nice, but is lacks in its flavor inducing qualities.

A lot of this is new out there and they are still discovering the limits of led lights, cobs, etc. adding a UV source is huge. You can buy a UV reptile light. The Reptisun 5.0 would be good enough for your space and it doesn't use much energy either.

Thanks, man! Yeah, I saw that conversation, and immediately put my blurple back in, but still have not confirmed that KIND K3 has UVB. I figured it would have least have a broader sprectrum than the cobs alone. Plus, I actually need the heat from it now, if you can believe that!

I am actually looking for as much pure indica from her as I can get, so that is good. I probably will pull the slower plant at all cloudy, though, so I have less couchlock effect from one of them.

I forgot to mention how great those plants look btw! Great stuff, pretty jealous of those 15 colas! you’re going to have some intense yields off them!

Thanks for the kind words, Medi! 15 colas on that plant alone, man! Another 8 on the lighter one, which will be taller on average. Yup, I think they want to get me some nice bud!

Interesting stuff. i have a Marshydro panel with the full spectrum (including UVB) and a cheaper panel that claimed to be full spectrum but doesn’t actually have any UVB output and you can definitely see things like early resin production and intense terpene prouduction even at young age VS the plants under the crappy light seem to start frosting as the buds begin to develop in true earnest almost as an afterthought. But that’s all just anecdotal because i don’t have tons of experience with the lights.

still It all makes sense that UV radiation can trigger certain genetic cues. It happens with people and animals so i assume it would happen with plants.

Makes perfect sense, now, Medi! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the tip on the reptile light, @MedCzech! They are low wattage and very reasonably priced. I will likely add to the mix, if it has that much affect!

Yep, that was the unexplained phenomena that kept perplexing me each grow with these led lights. I never had an issue with my old hps because that has a ton of UVA, UVB, and UVC, all then stuff that triggers those genetics and self defense mechanism in the plants. That's why my buds haven't all been as tasty as before when I had the hps only. Twenty years growing that way...now led lights and the unknowns yet what they offer or don't and ho we can get the best spectrum for our buck. The light I am buying costs nearly $200, but tbh I have heard that the Reptisun is totally effective in a tent grow and gives both UVA and UVB light.

All led guys need to make the switch, that will be the new trend and we can get it on that early. That's what makes a hobby like this so much fun, and with all of us cooperating, the rate at which the collective can grow better stuff should increase with time. I guess that means we will all be growing perfect, stinky, tasty, buds with max yields in no time. I think I am getting a little closer each grow.

I dont normally chime in on stuff with growing but I think this article may be useful. Its a bit of a read but just to summarize. When it comes to LEDs, white light should be your main as it brings a balance across the par spectrum, than feel free to supplement with narrow spectrum uv-a/b lighting for desired effects. Also if interested in any info pertaining to LEDs this site is a very good source. I have worked with the company directly and can safely say they have the studies to back up there claims. https://fluence.science/broad-spectrum-vs-narrow-spectrum-rediscovering-white-light/

Happy growing mates ! :vibe:

There is a definite opportunity to lay groundwork for new growing best practices post-prohibition (add in the words continuum and paradigm and you’ll know what I’m trying to say). I believe the movement has already started, and the next 10 years will be groundbreaking. I feel lucky to have a little window in on it. GG4 :headbang:

Yep, between genetic breakthroughs and technological advancements, growing has gotten and will get better in the short term. Light tech is where this goes. Environment is clear for me and I think that I have under control, but the lighting is still a work in progress. CMH is another option that gives a lot more UV light and the IR needed to trigger the genetics, but they are hot, expensive, and that means they are only good in certain conditions. Plus, it would mean i am starting over with my lights and I would like not to have to do that.

Adding the California Lightworks UV light. Best out there for addding the UVA, and UVB needed. I already used my blurple which has UVA and UVB in veg mode on my Fruit Punch the last ten days and I could noticeably smell the stronger aroma after the time under that light. The new light will only add 25 watts as well, so it still makes sense. I will run it only a couple hours each day.

That’s awesome! Can’t wait to see those results. And that’s what it’s all about, all of us growing the best we can with the environment, equipment, genetics, technology, and knowledge base available, ever expanding. Can you imagine how good pot will be in 15 years? Holy shit!!! :chimp:

TBH, considering how much more intense the reefer has become so now I can grow autos which are more potent than photoperiod s I was growing five years ago outside, I can't imagine they can keep progressing at the same rate. I am not really chasing more potent marijuana, but best taste and medical effects are tops for me.
It truly is my medicine cabinet...if I have a headache, can't sleep, backaches,or anxiety, I have the remedy. Thats what key for me. Although hitting the bong with some dank ass weed that makes me sweat bullets isn't horrible either from time to time.:baked:
