Good man! That's what i like to hear yeah bigsmo's your man, top bloke for helping others you can get the cob chips & holder's on ebay mate, give me a shout if you need help with suppliers or anything mateahh so that was a 200w draw light and he said you can run 200w cob from it. not sure why that surprises me lol. ive got another marshy en route in a few weeks so i might aswell give it a bash. fill one with as close to 270 as i can get it and put that in the middle with blurples iether side. ill speak to bigsmo about it and see what he says. never realised it was that cheap : )
gracias chica : ) ive seen quite a few folk build their own from scratch but thats too much for me. i was thinkin about it for a while but your way sounds much better.Good man! @BigSm0 what you reckon mate. as our guru of all things luminessant, is it a feasible option for me to rig out an old model mars 600 that i tested at 270w draw with 270 watt worth of cobs? ill have a sparky on hand to do the fitting so just need to know if it will work. or whats the max i could put in? any advice for blurpler on the convert? : )
thanks for that smo. your some guy like. always got time to answer our queries. : )The best advice is to stop wasting wattage to heat and waste it on light. 270 wall watts was giving you around 50 par watts. That can be done with 100 watts of cobs.
Wattage is heat and light but not the same amount of light depending on the source. Look at wattage like fuel. One gallon doesn’t mean you can drive 50 miles right? with the right car you can but not all cars get 50 miles per gallon. What is a gallon equivalent for mileage? The reason for all this is wattage is as vague as a gallon of gas. Some cars are fuel efficient, some lights are photon efficient. If your doing a lot of traveling it makes sense to get a Prius, if your growing it makes sense to get a cob.
Hope I helped, the short answer is as long as your putting in 100 watts of cobs your achieving the same amount of light while saving wattage. If your putting in 270 watts of cobs your more than doubling the amount of light. Either way you win with efficiency and efficiency is best had with cobs.
Good man! Sounds like a wicked plan can't wait to see what you come up with!thanks for that smo. your some guy like. always got time to answer our queries. : )
i just wasnt wasnt sure the mars frame could handle that much cob. sounded too good to be true but if you say it can be done then im going for it. think i’ll aim for about 250w worth of bloom spec on my first experiment and see how i get on. got plenty blurples there for vegging so ill just do it that way. : ) cant believe ive finally been talked into this haha. vive la revolution!
Iv spent the whole night researching it and to do what tha dude did in cornells video without actually buying a mars 2 400w il just buy 3 150w drivers as is in the mars 2 400w and then use old heatsinks from processors in pcs 1 heat sink per cob chip will do and bang thays 6 cobs right there 2x 40 volt cob per 150w driver is pretty much what the guy in the video done he said make sure u dont go over chip size 20-40volts well best cree chips runs at 38.5volts bang on ehh ... hmmmm this way i can stealth grow in my wardrop social services can suck my tadjer man no light like a hps or a led and no heat issues all id have do is rig the poor wardobe up with a filter kit and 1 or 2 of these dual cob lights im gunna make and just have 1 or 2 plants in there under all that rawwwww ass light hmmmmmthanks for that smo. your some guy like. always got time to answer our queries. : )
