Ah..cheers...I'll Use that...:toke:

Hugs for you Root...:bighug:

It is really cold today..and you can feel the damp in the air..so we fed the chickens and gave ourselves the rest of the day off..:yay:..well..until 4 pm when we have to go down and feed them and the cat.

Poor cat..it lost it's favourite tree.
It used to sit in the one above the sluice every night when we left...

It must be hard work doing all that work all day long. I'm 30 and I think I'd struggle with it myself.

Although I have been looking round for some land for myself either to buy or let. I just love gettin out and mucky. Then when it all complete is worth the hard work.

How long have you and hubby been there at that mossy?

It is kind of as hard or as easy as you want it DM...if you understand me.....it took my hubby a long time to understand.
However much you Do..there is always More..so you have to set yourself up to do so much in a day..then be Happy.
During the summer I could sit with a load of jobs to do and weeds growing all around me and still be Happy and at peace with the place.
Hubby couldn't..he was overburdening his brain with the job list and getting stressed out.
He Finally Got it over Christmas..:zen:..

Aye..hubby says I'm never happier than when I'm up to me elbows in soil..I'm feral...:vibe:

Year past Christmas..but we didn't have the water sorted for the first 6 months..so spring will be a test of what we have learned...:coffee:

I would love the space to grow what I want how I want. Would love one of those big tunnels. I could put one in my back garden but I'd need to chop down some trees it's and it ain't the weather for that just yet !!

You have a tunnel don't you? How would you keep mice out? Air gun? Lol

So would I..the field would be full of cannabis..not alfalfa...:growing:

1aaaaaabadge.jpg

Normal catch, it's a seasonal thing. "In season" means got fat. In the fall you go for caribou and moose bulls, before the rut, during rut the boys get smelly and fight and fight, after the rut, no fat. Bear (black and grizz) are fat in the fall and good when they first come out of den in spring, fur is prime when they first come out. After about thanksgiving time the caribou and moose cows are in season, got fat, good all winter to get, ones without calves, of course. In the spring, when caribou migrate N, cows getting very preg, calve in June, time to get bulls again, not fat but in good shape, good meat to dry for spring and summer, if I get enough. First part of July fishing kicks. Pretty much live on fish and garden for about 3 months. Sheefish, arctic char, salmon, grayling, whitefish, lingcod. Waterfowl opportunities in spring and fall, fall birds are real fat, so tasty, love to have a couple in the freezer for thanksgiving and winter solstice.

Damn...what a food selection........I was going to say that you should Outlive all of us..then I wondered..what do you have in Dry store.....:eyebrows:..you don't have all that processed poo like the rest of us...?....:coffee:

I'd never made the connection about the killing season being when everything was Fat.....makes so much sense.

I Blame Diners drive-ins and dives..and working with a load of 'Mericans......we don't seem to have the same smoking food tradition in the UK..But..I'm Up for something New....:chef:...I'll certainly have a good selection of fruit woods for smoking when trim season comes.

I always save my orange skins and dry them..my new citrus book says that the ash from burnt orange skins is excellent fertiliser for citrus trees...so I'm wondering if citrus skin would make nice smoke..kill two birds with one stone...:vibe:

Meanwhile back @the Ranch.....it is still bloody cold.
Sunny days..but with a nithering cold wind.
Apparently there is snow on the mountains in Alicante..and I Think we are getting the down draught...:windy:..I Wish spring would hurry up.I need the night temps to hit double figures..centigrade..before I come out of hibernaton.

Not so the farmer..we came in the other day and there is a giant theodolite in the field directing a tractor to get the field perfectly level for flooding..

What a piece of kit....

1aaaaaaaab.jpg

It was flat as a witches tit...:pass:...the farmer said it was expensive..but boy what a Job...

The morning after we come in and the field looked flat..it had rained..so it could have been that..then we noticed Oranges in the field....:d5:..and we knew the sluice had been open.
When it has been very windy it is like a fruit stall in the sluice..:coffee:

Looking at the field it looks as if it has been drilled too..so I'm guessing it is seeded..I'm just watching to see Green for confirmation.

I'm Happy..for the first time in 15 years..the field And the watering system are in operation.

I have a better View now..instead of looking at a load of ugly reeds on the back border..I get to look at a lovely orangery on the next plot down...:headbang:

I also get a SEE view...:yeah:..those flats in the distance are front line for the harbour..and I can See them...:crying:

If we ever get a tsunami I'm gonna have to be running up the nearest hill coz we are just about on sea level.
