Indoor Ruderalis - where to get them so I can breed

Interesting. Thanks you the insights. I dropped $20 on the ruderalis seeds and the another $80 on a bunch of autos. So I will have a be things to play around with. I appreciate the advise and will review and study this further. I didn't realize some of this breeding takes 20 crosses, that's nuts. :)

So if I work backwards, let's say my end result is some popular auto, what are most often the components making it up? Both male/female demonstrate strong auto traits? And what, most commonly, is the percentage of actual auto outcome. I have seen some folks having to switch their autos to 12/12 to induce flowering.

Thank you

20 might have been a bit extreme, but what you will get with a ruderalis will be a lowryder. The lowryder was the original auto, and they are also what gave autos a bad name for so long.

Remember, you're trying to do two things. You're trying to select the autoflowering trait AND you're trying to recreate your pet strain. Sometimes the canna gods smile and give you both together, but often they laugh at you and give you a generation with neither trait.

Great input. Well I will have a ton of things to play with and learn. But I think I get at what you are saying. Maybe there is no need to reinvent the wheel, but I enjoy taking things apart. I generally can't put them back together or have a few parts left over. What I'm saying is I generally learn the hard way, cut some corners, but overall enjoy myself.

Whatever males I come across I'm going to take advantage off! Lol, that sounds wrong. Let's see what happens.

Cheers
Karl

You might look into using STS (silver Thio Sulfate) or colloidal silver to treat one branch at a right time to get it to go male. Using that pollen, especially with that strain, should give you a feminized seed. The DNA will be like the mother and hence you will probably get close to what the original strain was. Or save the pollen for crossing with other Autos.

Any product recommendations when it comes to STS?

Thanks, Karl

I made mine at the winery lab (where I work) Easy to make. Here is a link to how it is made in 2 parts A and B when you make it up keep separate until time to use. Mix 5ml of A into 20ml of B, stir and then add 75 ml of distilled or RO water to that mix and it should be diluted enough to not burn the plant.

This is interesting. Thanks. Do you personally have experience with this? This week give me female pollen and create feminized seeds when I cross use it?

Also when is the best time to start spraying?

I might try this down the road, just trying to get all the info together.

Thanks

One last question, maybe the last one, how stressful will this be to the plant? Should I do a crappy bottom branch or a quality bud somewhere? And at which point in flowering?

Fyi got the materials for STS on their way. Reviewing my seeds, I have so many feminized ones that I may need to do the spray in order to catch and preserve some of that I got.

Yo, Has anyone mentioned nativcanna? The're offerings Pure ruderalis flower/seed plants. Dont know if they still carry their ruder seed/cbd plant, looked the most indica as a pure rudy cultivar. I wanted to recreate the same thing with pure rudy but its saved me a lot of work/time buying seed from original LR descendants bred by other people such as short stuff and original afghan/pakistan kush ryders. WoS still carries LR/heirloom kush ryders.

Lots of NL x ruderalis available. I'm passionate about cross a photoperiod landrace/heirloom heritage kush with Short stuff descendant Ryder Kush improving stabilizing my own personal blend of original autoflower kush.
