OLD REVIEWS Royal Gorilla genetics

Am in a kinda rural area between Sacramento and San Francisco, small town 15k people. 3 dispensaries, 4 commercial grow operations, 2 concentrate production facilities...
And not a joint worth smoking.

I understand 100%. When you acquire knowledge and expertise in a certain domain, it’s only natural that you prefer your own. :)

Wish that was the case. The majority of commercial ops I see out here are financed by a guy who's never smoked, and run by a "head grower" that has 2 grows down since "graduating" from oaksterdam...the majority of peeps handling the plants haven't got a clue. Dried to fast, packed in nitrogen.... blah.

Give me the days of going over to "bobs" house to hang out and pick up an eighth of weed from the lb that his uncle just ran down from Humboldt... wrapped in a sandwich baggy. Here, if you were involved in growing in the dark years, your not welcome to work in the industry. Missed out on an awful lot of talent.

I could make an argument that poor flower quality is the big reason for the move to concentrates. I can hide a bunch of poor grow practices in concentrates.

My “Bob” only has CBD or something similar, which he passes on as “the shit.” Hence why I decided to grow my own; I am an honest dude, and got so fed up of dealing with those who only care about filling their pockets, without putting in one iota of consideration towards quality. Very frustrating dealing with that!

For me this would have been the early 80s. Friends I grew up with, at one point or another we were all each others "dealers". Small time high school hustle kinda stuff. There were the guys that you needed to watch the weight, but maybe because of the dank flowing in from the coast in the fall, never had many issues with people talking up the quality. It was either lime green donkey balls (skunk #1) or brickweed run up from Mexico in the spring and summer.
Then indoor happened.

Interesting! what were the effects of brick weed from Mexico? Sativa, indica, hybrid? Was it alright?

Sativa... if you wanted to go into Bizerkley or Hayweird, Acapulco gold, Oxoaca, Columbian, thaistick & most of the Hawaiian strainscould be found pretty easily. We just threw seeds we found away. I could get a little pissed at some of the genetics I had in young hands and just tossed.

The really crap stuff was pressed into bricks and usually smuggled in the fuel tanks of trucks. Seedy as F, but it got you high. You could score a quarter for about 20$.
