Outdoor Round 2: Waira's Mixed Bag of Tricks Combo Grow '19

...oops, missed a page!

Trail, the C99 mini-me is just dry enough to try, no flush at all of course,... seems OK for this early and all that,... very good potency! Aroma is overripe fruit mainly, but it got a little cooked by high T during dry, thinning out the aromatics some... The main plant is going to take an inordinately long time, 10w+ I'm betting...:nono: ... what a gitchy start with the tent this year! I'll have what, 4 (possible) strains to show for the season?:cuss:..excluding the Solo Cookies, and the shitty DQ that is... Half of what was planned! :face:... but on the upside, Cherry Bomb and CrackLOG will fill in the gaps- :thumbsup: ...good thing I started extras,...

>> mini-me C99 finger cola- :rofl: ..... it's a snap-shot at least of what her sister will be like for quality

TM!, stellar bag appeal:d5:
:pass: Smokey mate, now for the surprise! Stanhopea's have very complex flower structure (many orchids do), specially shaped to accommodate the particular pollinator,.... jutting out of the center, on top is the column, a united male/female parts structure, below that is the lip.labellum... the tip of the column has the pollen "gel-packs", hidden behind an anther cap; this is how orchids pass pollen along; there's no airborne type pollen, so they rely entirely on some sort of carrier....

wow!, have you see her pollinator? Looks like a humming bird buffet

~~~{{{ Week 9-ish update }}}~~~
:smokeout:... Well, the Ugly Stick came to town on me- :rofl:... everybody has taken a bit of a nutritional beating, and showing it! pH has been fine the whole grow, but last week a couple went sideways, Skunk dipped into upper 5's,.. not too bad, but compounded with a general P defc., it hit harder than usual; several fans are toast, totally drained... So, I've been feeding harder to catch up, did some foliars too... Now I need to re-do the Armory inoculant, but that was needed anyway. Everybody except the damn AoF's are in bloom officially! As for those PITA's, something has to be done... the problem is the client is not very steady of his feet, and his memory is crap... A small tent is available, gotta test it for fit though,...but if I can get him to tuck them in at night and take them out on a 12/12-ish sched, that'd do the trick....
I'm starting to incorporate more organic nutes, angling to have that as the main feed, but I have to get them caught up more first on that.... I'm using the Roots HPK, and their Terp' Tea Bloom which is a dry, very fine ground powder- :thumbsup: mixes and slips into the soil nicely!
Tent has a Strawberry Nuggets going, and a (Magic) Witch Doctor, but that one is having some leaf formation issues; second set is wonky, slow to form, only 1 side so far ...:shrug:.. if that fragg's, it'll be a B-Line or maybe Sweet Green Poison auto to fill in... :goodluck:
C99a is 3' now, the original breeder saw her and noted the size is huge for her kin,... makes sense, as she's nearly 8 weeks and has 3-4 to go, way too long (again! :cuss:) and very odd for this strain....
NQ is a 1-2 days from chop; low odor, super tiny trich's; quality looks middling but buds formed nicely... Only time will tell if she's crap, OK, or better than she looks!
Oh, when you fire up the Green Poison'FV, I still have old brother Kudos' icon he made for it! snag it brah-->
..... shweeeeet,.... :rofl:
Hey Waria mate :d5::pass:
I never knew that about orchids not relying on airbourne pollen. Beautiful looking plant, as are your Canna girls also:yay:nice large healthy looking. Coffee is a nutrient for plants, i might take up coffee, well not realy, i might just make a cup pour it on my girls instead :coffee:
Talking about no Canna plants, DR Clifford parks is in flower, hes a reticulata camellia
:pass:Smokey, step outta that canna-cloud mate, you're seeing things,... :dizzy: :dancer::nono:.....:crying:... these girls are not the gems they were a month ago!
.... coffee is my beer and wine! yup, I'm a snob.....:biggrin:
... pic didn't make it mate, but I can imagine the beauty!
Deadmans Reach:thumbsup: we were one of Ravens first customers back when they were starting up. I roast my own now but still pick that one up when the occasion arises:biggrin:
The skunk special still looks interesting... looks like she's coming along ok?
Sweets GP f1fv I grew last year, on your recommendation I believe, was a big hit. I bet any of their iterations of that strain are good:cheers:
:thumbsup: no kidding! I wish they were local/fresh, the coffee is delish',.. A couple places used to carry them, but they were phased out- :cuss:... I do have a local guy that's excellent though,... buds and beans are shared often!
Gaaahhh, you roast your own! :drool: ... I guess considering, that's just smart, not just snobby- :crying: ..... I'm sweating him for the Indo' crop, Bali specifically... the estate he gets it from has been gold! 2 seasons ago, it had distinct berry notes, blueberry in fact,... last year, apricot.. I mean like dried fruit was hiding in there! :zen: :woohoo::coffee:... amazing...
love n CrackLOG's vig!
:greenthumb: me too, I wonder what she would do for you up there,.... If she auto's, or is super sensitive, it's a possibility? See I'm not sure which mine is since she went outside full time, but I'm leaning super sensitive,... she started very slow, stalled in that pot the others blew out of; soon as she got new shoes, she cut loose! :shrug:
.... the Night Queen is down and drying... buds are structurally very nice, a great yield too,... she frosted up a bit more by then, so to the eye, she's looking mid-upper grade... very fine heads, average surface density.... aroma is nice, if mild, an earthy-fruity blend... Some of that strawberry-ish stem rub smell is in there, buried by the other aromas... So, in a week or so, I'll know if she's OK or phoo-ey! :rofl: :goodluck: ... I snapped some last minute pics, but forgot to take some stripped nekked ones today- :doh:
:crying: funny you mention that! Check this out-->
.... very good coffee co' too, BTW...:thumbsup:.... Deadman's Reach is superb....
Oh yeah, the GP XXL's.... Hmm, now I'm hankerin' for GP,... if that WD flops, I may have to do the GP auto, which I haven't tried yet.... others have, and the full photo' too, and between us, the consensus is that GP is very stable across the board! Best thing is, the XXL is not an outcross, but a rarer pheno' isolated for size....
Haha awesome looking coffee, I need to start looking online for beans. Best I found here was Kicking Horse.
Yea I hear ya on the grow bumps and germ problems ..I had the same ..I also have had problems(all my fault) with my autopots clogging or not running and letting the pot go uber dry lol the plant is so big it mage the hole thing lean over and not work . I use organic base, so I found that flushing the lines at the res with a syringe from time to time is a must-do and works great.
Lol glad you have a good local roaster...I can see you are serious about your coffee :smoking: I started roasting out of self defense after we came to AK. We would order coffee and the mail would get screwed up or delayed some way here to the boondocks and I'd be without:yoinks:. I too love Indo, I'll get a single variety next time. Right now I have an espresso blend that's sort of blase'
Plants are looking good mate :d5:.......be very interesting to see how the NQ smokes! As they say sometimes the ugly ones are the best :eyebrows:-:rofl: she finished not to bad though, i think mate! ....I'll have to come back and take some notes of the things you said you'd do differently mate as your journal is a treasure trove of hints and tips for us outdoor dummies :thumbsup:.....I nearly enjoy looking at your orchids as much as the canna mate, always cool to see what else people have in their garden besides the devil's lettuce :cheers:
