Aligning strange emanations
I have used several but, I kept coming back to the Arizer Air mainly because of a combination of ease of use (and cleaning and maintenance!) and taste.Attention vape users! 7 years of smoking bongs and I'm looking for a change! Total noob all I know is you put buds in it press a button and smoke, what are the top brands everyone is using? I dunno how much they cost on average but I'm willing to spend $200 on a device, someone recommend something in this price range that's user friendly haha?
Basically, it really comes down to personal preference, I'm sure. Questions you should ask yourself:
- just dry weed or also wax, hash, oil/dabs? (Arizer Air only is suitable for dry herbs)
- do I like lots of draw resistance or very low, or in between?
- how is maintenance? Some devices have airpaths that are hard to clean, residue will form and at some point it will clog if you're not very diligent at cleaning. Some are very low maintenance (Arizer for instance uses glass tubes that you insert into the actual device. Basically only the glass tube needs to be cleaned. You drop em in some alcohol, leave them for an hour or so, whipe them and you're done)
- do you prefer "medical grade" material. Some devices use plastics that give off taste. Not nice, but mostly cheap.
- does it need to be portable? There are some great home devices. Although, nowadays, some portable devices can compete with those larger home devices in terms of vapor clouds and taste, I still believe the ruling opinion is that a good non-portable device beats any portable.
- battery life can be important. Nothing worse than being in the mood for some and having to charge the battery first. Some devices can be used while charging.
- type of heating. There's convection ovens and conduction ovens. The difference is that with conduction there's direct contact between your weed and the heat source. With convection the weed is heated just by hot air, so the oven itself doesn't touch the weed. This produces less clouds but better taste.
- how much temperature control do you want? Some have fixed settings, some you can set the temp (almost) completely how you want it.
When you've answered these questions you can search on we shops for a device that meets your needs. I now only use the Arizer Air, but I've used some others. I'll put some pros and cons and their rank below for use with weed (just my experience, others can have a different opinion, it's all a matter of personal preference):
3. Geboof Alfa
Pro:...
Lightweight, maybe..?
Con:
Plastic taste
Difficult to fill up without cleaning
Hardly any draw resistance
Too large a bowl (at least back then...)
Airpath difficult to clean
I send it back and got a refund
2. Firefly 2
Pro:
Very, very nice taste!
Very easy to clean
Beautiful design
Glass Airpath (=clean taste)
Can also do dabs! And those were pretty okay. (Not nearly as hard hitting as a real dab, but formidable taste)
Con:
Difficult (for me at least) to master the right way to inhale. It has a learning curve, so they say...I just think it's stupid to have to think about how exactly to inhale...
You have to stir the bowl every two draws. Another thing that I soon had enough off, but the device is useless unless you stirr.
Very small bowl combined with a preferred coarse grind of your weed.
Pretty expensive
