Lighting Reliable Alibaba Suppliers & Light Builds

FWIW, I bought an QB800 kit from Meijiu and ONE diode is not lighting up. I complained to Rita the sales rep and they initially wanted to just compensate USD20. Apparently, I am unable to perform any repairs myself according to them.

Sounds fair except I paid for an 800 board, not a 799 board. Its like you bought a dream sports car and found that it has 1% less horsepower than all others out there. Even if the car manufacturer pays you a 10% compensation, you would prefer a new car. Or at least be refunded for the car. At least thats my logic (mine alone so back off! Lol)

So after voicing my displeasure, they somehow preferred to refund me for the board (Board only. Not heatsink, driver etc). I get to keep the board of course. Its absolutely fine with me though. I am supposed to be refunded on this coming Wednesday so we'll see!

I'm not concerned with the few dozen lumens missing from that diode though. But its a sight for sore eyes. Perhaps only growers will understand

In about a week, will show off my entire build with 2399pcs of Samsung diodes, 36pcs of Osram Oslon deep red/ far red diodes, 4 x 70W UVB MH bulbs for brief periods only.

Someone remind me if i forget! Lol

Hi all, I'm a noob to this site, this is my first post here. I'm looking for QB style lights. In the process I've read lots on this site and others, going from knowing nothing about QB to being in the danger zone of knowing a little bit!

This past few days I have approached Meijiu, Bava, Geeklight, R2T, Kingbrite, and Weili Tech.

The light is for a 4x4x7'11 tent, coco, automatic hydro. Currently I have two ViparSpectra PAR450 dimmable. My feeling is that the buds are not as dense as they should be and I looked a MrHua red as a supplement before I started to consider red strips, then moved to looking at firesale on the VP or use for mother in a separate tent that I have.

I am leaning to 480w, 3500K, 660nm red. I've asked about top bin from all, and of course the response is that they are. Reputation is about the only backup one can have I think. Lots of the reds appear to Epistar, and Cree seems to be quite a price bump. I am concerned about the air flow with a large solid heat sink vs a 2 piece and a spreader bar of some sort.

Bava offers reds and UV. I've read concerns about the quality of the heat sink.
Meijiu has LM301H boards, but not with red.
Kingbrite appears to have lots of options.
R2Ts Russell has been very up front as mentioned in this thread, and moved me off a 600W to a 480W option.
Geeklight I didn't follow up on for a couple of reasons.

Weili Tech I am quite interested in this. It's definitely more expensive option. I would appreciate any comments on this or general suggestions for me. No "reds" option, LM561c or Lm301b (no H available) but considering warm white, they suggest 600W. The size is a couple of cm short of 48"! I haven't looked a a red bar option, but they do have UV bars.

I'm baked as hell so bear with me. Try my best to answer as many as i can.

1. Epistars are just fine. I use Osram Oslon deep red and far red diodes and they cost a whole damn lot more. Better than Cree and definitely epistars. However, check the datasheets and Osram don't win by that much anyways. But man these are the brightest dark reds I've ever seen! Only 50++ watts with 36pcs diodes and you see beautiful perfect spread more than enough for 20sq ft!

If you want an all in one board, go for the red epistars. Best to get a mix of 660 and 730. Personally, I prefer my reds separate for two reasons. a. I can turn them off during veg. b. I cannot figure out why boards with added epistars (Less samsung diodes) costs more than a board with all samsung diodes? Therefore, I have never considered them boards with red.

2. Forget LM301H unless you are after the latest and for bragging rights. The ONLY difference I can find so far between LM301B and LM301H is that LM301H has anti sulferization coating. The data sheets of both diodes are EXACTLY the same! With the coating, it apparently makes it lasts longer. But check out the LM561C boards that people still use after years! So apparently its long lasting enough already. Its just a marketing ploy to slap an H and claim it as Horticulture specific diode to sell at higher price.

3. Forget LED UVs. Perhaps UVA is still in the affordable range but the precious UVB that we want cannot be economically created by LEDs. Reptile bulbs or MH Bulbs optimized for UVB (For succulents), which is what I'm using makes more economical sense. There are also specialty UVB bulb makers such as Agromax, Solacure etc with mixed reactions. Some claim its the bomb. Some claim its totally wrong ratio of UVA/B, burn plants, reduce harvest by 25% etc. I personally don't have a clue lol! There are still a lot I don't know and am currently still researching....very slowly lol

4. Sellers are all ok. Just need to know what you want? Important parameters includes diodes, drivers, heatsink (They are perfectly fine in one piece and/ or separate), board copper content (Thickness represented by X oz of Copper. Usually 1.5oz to 3.0oz. Don't ask me why?), with or without aluminum bracket? etc

Hope you get the best out of your purchase!

Equatorial. Good info. Much appreciated. Sounds like you are in for a great day ;-) Thanks.

A few questions if you don't mind:

Your suggestion in your reply to me, and your build in a prior post, appears to be to have a dedicated light board and add on the UVB and reds.

The reds are a separate strip is that correct? Did you source this a prebuilt or did you put it together yourself? Basically I would like to explore this option for the bloom/flower lighting and would appreciate info or a link if possible. I did look at the HLG 35 strip and that looks great, but sold out of course. Not available in Canada from what I can see.

After reading your post I explored the UVB T5 HO bulbs Hortilux, Agromax, some of the reptile ones too. The Agromax video is amusing with the guy in his lab coat, hard hat, and heavy shades, speed talking about the lights. All appear to be operated like a tanning both, ie easy to over-do.

Can you expand on the last bit of your last paragraph re: the aluminum bracket? Good, bad? The R2T has that and it's not the prettiest thing. I've had a hard time contacting Russell, but figure the heat sink is in 2 pieces. Not sure. But if it is there's the option to separate them a bit by widening the space between.

Thanks again.

1. Not really my suggestion. Just sharing my current setup and my reasons. Everyone has different conditions.

2. I was referring to strips like HLG35. I bought mine from Meijiu. Love it but is pricey.

3. I don't like reptile bulbs as they degrade too fast and needs to be super close, often blocking main light. Thats why I'm trying MH UVB lights. But that is proving challenging as distance issues are arising. Really don't seem to be a perfect solution to UVB supplementing atm. Reptile bulbs remains the hands down favorite. Lots of valuable info on RIU.

4. Bracket is a frame I guess. I don't use one or know how to build one so sorry for not being much help here.

If it is allowed on this forum, can you post a link to the red strip you purchased please?

For what it is worth I got my most recent qb from Kingbrite and I couldn't be happier. Better experience and price than I got from HLG themselves. (HLG on the left Kingbrite on the right)

This company goes by a few names. I posted about them before. I recommend everyone to stay away too!
Well I got a 240 kit from a different person on there and I got the boards an they are supposed to lm301b in top flux bin and AZ voltage bin and its 45 volts is that right for a288

I found the item(s) on the Meijiu site finally. Too late. I ordered the Kingbrite with Cree. The plan was the Meijiu no red on the board and add the strip, but time zones, delays...didn't work. I can't stay up that late for real time comms!!! Next time...

Did you get the new version with the 620, 660, 730 Osram? The price is basically the same as the vendor in the USA for the strip.
