Indoor Rebel Returns to Quantum Badboy T5HOs -- April 2019

So... After two years of battling with LEDs I'm officially spent and done with them. For more reasons than one. I'll elaborate in a follow up post. But after much consideration, thought, researching my old notes from the past several years I've made a decision to return to my old way of growing. My old lighting. Already I'm loving what I see!

I dropped 5 x Short Stuff Mi5. Old stock I had stashed away. Regulars... And one of @Magic 's Voodoo fems. Would have loved to drop more but I only had one left.

I planted them directly in the dirt on April 3rd. They all popped out by April 5th.

I didn't want to change too much as to not go absolutely ape shit and not know what the issues would be, if any arise... I'm using my regular one gallon grow bags. Promix HP and GH Maxi line nutes.

I have 2 x 6 lamp Quantum Badboy units. A 4 lamp unit and about to purchase an 8 lamp unit (maybe 12 I need to do some measuring) for my 3x3. I'm seriously going back and going all in on T5HOs.

18/6 lighting.

I'll post baby pics when I feed em here after a smoke bread. Just shut down the press after a long night at work so bear with me...

every day a heart is left, in my cup only! Like snowflakes, each one quite recognizable and individual.
3 Magics are finding there way into my greenhouse this season. this year's theme....Raise the Roof!

With LED lights getting the height can be difficult and there is no set guide as LED light vary enormously with different types of diodes, the angle of the lense, what type of Bin (quality and how hard they can be driven) and COB vs Single/double chip emitters with lenses.
Then there is colour blending of individual diodes, too close and the angle of the single LED's don't blend properly.

COB's are easier in this respect but with all LED's too close and too bright and you will stress the plants bleaching the top layer whilst the lower layer of the plant seems fine. This can often be seen as a plant def but really it is a toxic amount of light causing light stress.

T5 are gentle, diffused lighting and need to be fairly close to the canopy, which is why they are a more forgiving light than LED and even HID's (which can in some cases, cause heat stress, tacoing of the leaves).
T5's are the laid back lights, not gonna give anyone any hassle as long as they are in range (close enough) to give adequate light strength.

One addition possibly to a T5 set up could be far red Led strips use as supplemental light designed to aid other lights in the bloom phase and which don't have the over the top power that some of the LED stand alone lighting units have.
I've killed seedlings with 2much light. Window grow snow reflectance + Autocob, Hiroshima, burn em down. A quick learn, autocob turns off before sola comes around, no worries, Autcob stays 20" to 30" away, yeah, headroom factors in! In the window, which is mainly used to start the outdoor/greenhouse stuff, plant's I intend to harvest from window need to stay 20" or less. Thought I was covered in 1/2 gal containers, but no. Had a Nashira go 23" and give up 35 gs last go round. Have 2 Portals in 1/2 gal pots in the window this time, gonna top em, keep em down a little.

Transplant at first signs of sex (first pistils) don't be gentle, that momentary root shock will sort out stretch phase and then they will continue to grow normally. Creating stocky plants with good buds.
There are other environmental conditions that affect plants growing too tall but this is the easiest and most effective method.
Be careful though as some strains are naturally small in height, I asked about my Rainbow Stones and was advised not to do anything as the are naturally small in stature.
The Citrus Noir as you know, has legs and I will give her the treatment!

Holy crap, you still have original Mi5 stock? Sounds fun actually,... impressive germ'ing man, especially considering their age! I'm still clinging to the last GHz x C99, which I am seriously thinking about handing off to Stickman or somebody for repro',... This strain is so good, well ahead of it's time and still excellent by current standards IMO...
oooOoo, Voodoo! I gots me a couple of those too, last one I saw was EoF's and it was tittie!
... Off to a good start here,... .... have you considered running 20/4? I really think this is the ticket for fluoro's, that softer light isn't overdriving them, plus it's warmer...

:smoker1: - we have talked about the LED grinding, indeed!.... What all have you run? Mars, Kind (?), Roleandro, Platinum, Unit Farm.... review your symptoms for us here,....
What other goodies and snacks do you have for the girls?.... You use Si already, yes? Get some humic-fulvic, I love the dry stuff BioAG makes, Ful-Humix.. the small bag will go miles and miles, so little is needed when this concentrated,... And Ful-Power, a liquid pure fulvic, clear light gold color, for foliar treats- :greenthumb: by itself or with other goodies... stuff is magic! Unlike humic, fulvic can get taken into the plant and utilized fully, along with whatever else is mixed in, it facilitates processing,...(humic is to large a molecule).. It chelates too, which leads me to Earth Juice Microblast... I'm telling you Reb, micro's are something that's just as critical as any primary nute, but the most overlooked,... they work deep in the machine, and any shortage on them will bottleneck all kinds of things, but symptoms often do not show right away, meantime the plant is bogged down,... Oh, and get a pH meter! :haha: how you kill me,... :crying:

I had replied to everyone the other night and before I could hit post reply the server went down and I lost it all :yoinks: so I'll have to do that again this weekend sometime. Just wanna say real quick to @arty zan I LOVE YOU BRO!!! I read your pm months back and totally forgot to reply. It's been hectic here and I'm an absolute scatterbrain! I owe you a huge   sorry for that my dear old friend! I'll get back to you this weekend I PROMISE!!

OK so here's what's going on. This is point on is pretty much where I'm going to pick up. Still had that mono cola deal going with my own strains which I've NEVER seen so I realized that was because I only had one lamp going. I have to HAWK these temps and rH like never before. This climate here has Absolutely changed and I just need to get all my variables in order!

Everything was spot on except structure. That's from low temps... Now I've got a 4 lamp Badboy and my Roleadro 600W 5W cob rocking and we're steady at 86-81F 40s for rH. And I'm safe to say paired with the new Sunshine Mix [HASHTAG]#4[/HASHTAG] I'm pretty good this far!!

I have one Male Blue Streak (Mdanzig) I will back story that in another post. Long story short. I dropped 5. Only one popped. Just showed male at 16 days. But it's GORGEOUS and it's going to hit up my SD and SB! It's BUSHY!!

It's crazy how the universe humbles you. I never even had to TRY to grow bushy plants before and now here I am like it's my first grow again. Again lol but I don't care I'm all in.

Got some Tangerine Dream and Hindu Kush autos from Grower's Choice (Cali) I dropped 2 TDs the other night to replace two male SBR-70 (one out of 3 for females there. Last of that shit promix) they are literally popping out the dirt as I type. I'm in here now to drop 2 of the HK and I'm STOKED!! Master Kush is my favorite all time smoke and that's just HK crossed with HK so I'm totally stoked for these! Never seen an auto Hindu Kush before so :woohoo1::headbang::headbang:

Ok let me get some pics up! Brb!
