Indoor Puff Puff Pat's 2nd Grow - Mephisto SLxSB and Rocbud Inc Grape Rolex

Mephisto in The Ground
Merry Christmas Eve everyone. I checked on the Meph bean this morning and it had cracked and just started showing its tap root. I'm doing things a little differently this time, and foregoing the paper towel and going straight to soil.

We now have are first bean in the soil (well, I guess it's technically sixth seed, but first for this journal). I've got a humidity dome on, since I'm still struggling with maintaining proper humidity, plus I don't want it too humid for the girls heading to the finish line. I've put about 2oz of water around where I planted the seed and watered around the edge of the pot last night to give her something to reach for. Hopefully we'll start seeing some movement around the end of the week!

And would you look at that, the pots are actually full! Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks! :pass:

SLxSB Day 1
As some of you may know, today was chop day for the Mayor but as they say, when one door closes, another one opens. Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to present, Stevie, as in Stevie Nicks:

She's still a little thing, but I have high (pun intended) hopes for her. Now begins the stressful two weeks of waiting for her to harden up and become resistant to my ham handed gardening style!

I also have a Monday ETA for Grape Rolex, so one more seed drop coming this week!

SLxSB Day 7
All of a sudden, a week has past. Monday I got my seeds from @RocBudInc and with the 5 Grape Rolex, I got an additional GR plus 3 Legend Berry OG! Normally, I'd drop a seed the day they come in, but I've been so sick the last week, I didn't have the energy to do anything. Even poor Stevie was neglected a little bit. Surprisingly, Stevie seems to be doing great, she's starting to push out her second set of leaves, so seems to be tight on track for a week old.

I always hat these first few weeks, I'm always afraid I'm going to screw something up, and since they're at their most fragile right now, it doesn't take much to screw it up.

Anyway, here's Stevie at day 7:

Man I've sucked at keeping this updated. Work has been nuts, and I'm still recovering from that damn flu.

So first the bad news, my Grape Rolex never sprouted, so I'm going to drop another seed this weekend.

Stevie's doing well at day 19 (I think). She's looking just a little N deficient, so I'm going to start her on MC next watering. Otherwise she's just doing the seedling/early veg thing:

Looking good Pat
Sorry about the GR
For straight to soil after a few hours soak, I have had much more success watering the entire pot the day before,
I like starting in little pots (300mLish) but when I started in my 3gal I did the same:shrug:
Then sow and sprinkle more soil on just to fill the tiny hole, and a mister to get the fresh sprinkled soil the same dampness,
leave it alone and quite consistently about 72 hours later it breaks soil, depending on how fast the pot is drying out, you could water again at that point or wait another day, stays moist for a while when the plant isn't drinking anything.
Just my :2cents: and my way of doing it though, everyone has their own proven method haha
Happy growing :goodluck:

Grape Rolex #1 Day One
Thanks @DMHeights I had good luck with the SLxSB just popping them in the dirt after a soak. Interestingly, this happened:

I went to drop the new seed, pulled off the dome, and saw that! She's a freaky deaky thing though, her root did almost a full circle before diving down into the soil. I covered up the exposed root, and we'll see what happens.

The new seed had already cracked and was showing her taproot, so I set up another 3g pot, and then there were three

It looks like Stevie is getting close (ish) to flower, she's got those hairs on the main stem (I can't remember what they're called for the life of me!), and with the Mayor and Bubbles the both went into flower about a week later.

In other news, my wife's starting to get into this, and has been watering the girls (I still handle feeding days and mix up a gallon of pH'd water for her to use), so that's been making things easier.
