Indoor Paulg’s 2023 Grow

I’m a little late in starting this journal. A bit lazy, a bit busy. My last grow was a success. I more than doubled my previous yield. I accomplished several goals. Most notably, switching to an indoor tent and using GroBuckets. So, this time around my plan is to build on my successes and add a few new twists. Also, I want to keep the journal succinct and pertinent. You don’t need to see a hundred seedling pics!

Here’s my general plan for the grow:

BioBizz Lite
BioBizz nutes
DynoMyco additive
Inkbird Temp and Humidity controller
Vornado Humidifier

the Inkbird and Vernado are new. Last grow , I was able to keep the Vpd in the general range by using a heater and exhaust fan. I was often close but seldom exactly on target. This time I’m hoping to be on top of the Vpd. I’ve gotten mixed reviews of the BB nutes, but they worked and I’ve got enough for this grow. So be it. I bought more TT seeds. I had good luck with them on my last grow . I like their approach and the 20% discount was too hard to resist. I wish them well as they recover from their disaster.

I got off to a good start with my seedlings. Unfortunately, I was away for a week and the Alien Moon Rock seedling died. So, I planted another (duh!). The TwistedCookie had some deformation. Not sure what to make of it, but I’m going to soldier on. I think she’ll be fine.

Weekly update: I started LST on the Twisted Cookies (Day 45). She started pretty slow with some leaf deformation. All the new leaves look good. I’m optimistic! The Alien Moon Rocks, day 28, is really taking off. I topped her last week. I didn’t notice any stunting. The Inkbird controller is working out well, my VPD has been consistently on ( close to) target. One issue I didn’t expect: the Vornado humidifier resets itself after a power outage. So, I have to run it using its internal controls. It works well but it would be nifty if the Inkbird controlled the humidity too.

Weekly update: Twisted Cookies is looking better. I decided not to top her but rather bend her over and around. Sort of a cork screw approach. The Alien Moon Rock seems to be the winner so far in this grow. Really explosive growth. I topped at the fifth node and removed the first node. I tied the remaining six branches down. The vpd has been much better this run with the Inkbird and Vornado humidifier. BioBizz nutes once a week with pH’d water in between.

Good week in the tent. I’m very happy with the Alien Moon Rocks. My goal was to tie the six main branches down and let the lower shoots grow into and even canopy. Seems to be working! The Twisted Cookies is healthy. I’m continuing to defol the inner fan leafs. She seems a little slow in her development. Must be patient. I’ve started a new GroBucket with two Blueberry Mazar seeds. This should be fun. It’s also going to fill my 2.3 x2.3 grow space. Stay tuned.

Just returned from a week away. What a difference a week makes! The girls are filling the tent (2.3x2.3). I’ve added a third plant but with the heater and humidifier already stacked, well lets just say it’s cozy in there. Both the Twisted Cookies and Alien Moon Rocks exploded! TC is starting to develop some sweet sticky frost in the buds. Mmmmm. I gave both of them a defol. The leafs are all dark and healthy. So, I’ll just keep on doing my plan of weekly nutes per BioBizz and watering in between. The Blueberry Mazar looks fine. Unfortunately, the second seed didn’t pop. I had wanted to do two in this container but will settle for one. Maybe next time around.

I’ve included some before defol and after pics of AMR. You can see how many more tops are visible afterwards. my defoliation approach is to open the canopy for better light penetration, open the lower plant for air flow and leave the large fan leafs on the outer perimeter.

Not much to report this week. That’s a good thing, right? TC is getting very sticky with lots of white hairs. AMR recovered instantly from last weeks defoliation. I’m plucking leaf’s daily to keep the canopy open. Blueberry Mazar is off to a fine start. The main stalk looks solid. Comments and advice is always welcome!

The clock tics. Twisted Cookies is in full on flower expansion mode. Every autoflower I’ve grown has gone just over 100 days. I think TC will do the same. I’m thinking Alien moon rocks will be the star of the show. Pistols poking out everywhere. Blueberry Mazar is right on track. I’ll top at the fifth node in a day or two.
I took Autobeast’s advice and apply nutes once a week and water in between. Seems to be working fine, so no change needed. I did give CT and AMR a dose of molasses.

Twisted Cookies is really pouring it on. Stinky and sticky. Starting to thicken up but still mostly clear trichomes. Alien Moon Rocks is starting to frost. Both plants had another defoliation last week, they recovered instantly. I topped the Blueberry Mazar at the fifth node. My plan was to remove the first node as they don’t seem to develop like the upper branches. However, the first node branches are growing out strong. So, my plan has changed!

Weekly update: I added some Advanced Nutrients Bud Candy to both AMR and TC per MOG’s recommendation (we all know who MOG is, right?). TC is showing mostly cloudy trichomes with few ambers. Maybe another week. Gave her some molasses today but its water from her on out. AMR just chugging along. I topped the fourth node again on the Blueberry Mazar. I just started two Amnesia 7 seeds. As soon as TC finishes they will go to the tent. One challenge with rotating plants in a smaller tent is adjusting the Vpd. I’m keeping the humidity lower to avoid mold on the plants nearing harvest. I guess the younger plants will suffer or not reach their full potential. I may go back to running batches rather than staggering plants next time around. Well see. Thanks for visiting!

Twisted Cookies is plump and ripe. Lots of cloudy trichomes a few amber. Just water at this point forward. I’m thinking a few more days to harvest. Alien Moon Rocks is headed for the finish line. Blueberry Mazar is vegging nicely. I’ve got two Amnesia 7 plants started and ready to replace TC. Looks to be a busy week! Thanks for looking.
