Just mix in some coco and perlite into your soil mix ?
That would increase the air and water ratio in your medium guys.

but I'll bet against bubbled water via Fd's method... you'll be hard pressed to see much difference...

Basically just get an aquarium pump and place an airstone in your water. The bubbles will oxygenate the water as well as speed the removal of chlorine.
