New Grower OS Purple Haze & BCN CriticalXXL COB LED Organic Grow

Hi guys!

Back home after 4 days, plants now at day 39! Had a feed 5 days ago, pots light again at 4.2kg. Lighter than they were before the last feed I gave them. Quite a bit more yellowing especially on the haze, but had to remove more leaves from the critical. Because of the continued yellowing I thought probably best to feed again. Last feed was 1/3 strength (33%), this time I have taken it up to 40% strength. Fed them till 10-20% run off, bcn took roughly 2.5 litres, haze 3 litres. Watered in larger amounts this time, usually fill the can 250ml and alternate between the plants until it’s all finished, this time went in 500ml increments. Usually I get no run off but with just 500 extra ml for the critical I got a fair bit possibly because of speed. Should receive my ppm pen in a couple of days.

Fed them veg, waiting on a complete stop in vertical growth, even though it’s going real slowly. Next feed I may need to change over to bloom.
40% strength in 8 litres.
6.4ml Vega, 3.2ml cal mag, 1ml mammoth p, 18 drops Castile. Ph to 6.2 after mixing.

Lights lowered to 60cm.

Purple haze
34cm tall, just 3cm in 5 days. Pretty much zero growth on new shoots from side branches, but buds getting bigger and space slowly spreading between nodes. A considerable amount of yellowing in leaves which is concerning as there aren’t many more of them.

BCN critical.
24cm tall, just 2 cm growth in 5 days. Still very short, but working on new shoots and buds getting a bit bigger. Some lower leaves really yellow, removed a few.

Any thoughts welcome! Thanks!

looking sweet to me bro

the purp' is really starting to build those flowers...lovely colours coming through already.
critical looks like she'll be a great shape once those flowers really pop.

doubt the few yellow leaves are much to worry about, maybe just left over from the droops you experienced? they look much perkier this week :d5:

Hm, without ppm and ph it's hard to help, but i see you near to others new growers to overfeed, haze looks pretty much ph lock out, never seen such a red stem before, don't know much about what you feed, but it's to strong, i'm curious what ppm meter says when arrived.

Mongols Right. You need to measure your base EC and see how many points above it you are going. At this stage you should probably be around 4-6 above base EC.

Loving the purple come through on the hazes leaves, gorgeous :) the yellowing actually sets off the contrasts and makes it look rather beautiful, but that’s the only good thing about it! Yellowing definitely progressing, so something is wrong for sure, that coupled with the snail pace growth I do have worries. I’m gonna get some bud though so feeling pretty happy :)

Hey @mongol

So with regards to the red stems, apparently that’s normal. Posted up infirmary last week and got a reply from @namvet25 who said it’s nothing to worry about.
Ppm meter should arrive soon.
Going to let her dry out of course, just wondering, shall I just give her plain water next time and test ppm and ph of run off? Or feed again?
Thought I was going to be good with the strengths I was using from what I’ve read from other journals and using canna’s feeding charts, but maybe not!

Hey bro, have ec pen on the way, just got a notification it’s coming today! Left New Zealand yesterday so bloody quick. Just asked mongol the same question, but wondering whether I just go with a plain water next time and test run off for ph and ppm. If I am overfeeding a plain water wouldn’t go amiss!

Wow, ec pen in the house... dhl nailed it. Less than 24 hours to go from pick up in New Zealand to drop off in Australia. Took a week for my inkbird controller to arrive, and that was from within Australia, priority delivery my ass Australia post. About time they got their **** together, bloody joke.

Quite expensive this blue lab gear, hopefully you get what you pay for :)

So got home and thought I’d do a little experiment with the newly arrived ec pen.
Mixed up a batch of 40% nute mix, exactly the same as what I fed last night, just 1 litre instead of 8.
Here’s the breakdown (ppm 500)

Filtered bubbled water: ph 8.1, Ec 0.1, ppm 50
Addition of Castile (6 drops): no change
Vega (0.8ml): ec 0.6, ppm 320
Cal mag (0.4ml): ec 1.1, ppm 570
Mammoth p (0.1ml): no change
Ph came down to 6.5 with just the additions (no ph down). If feeding to plants would take down to ph6.2.

So finished mix came to ec 1.1/ppm 570

Here they are 24 hours after the last feed. They turned 40 today!

No drooping and lowering of lights to 60cm seems to be fine. A tiny bit of leaf edges curling upwards on bcn but it’s minimal. Still a bit of clawing on haze, not sure if that is supposed to fix itself as it’s been apparent for a few weeks.

What's the base EC of your normal tap water. Doesn't mean anything without that unfortunately
