New Grower Organic Strawberry Nuggets

Very cool! Do the worms every try getting out of your pots?

Thanks for asking - short answer NO .... as overhead lights keep them suppressed BUT If you have too much moisture they might try if they find shady spot under canopy ... when my Worm bin gets too wet they will crawl up sides but otherwise if environment is good they stay and stay and eat and poop and make new baby worms!

Beautiful plants. You are the second grower I’ve seen who uses live worms in the soil. What do worms add to the soil that’s beneficial? Is it just the worm castings or are there other benefits?

Thanks for asking, love to help ....

Worms are the best gardeners in the world .... they aerate the soil and as they work thru soil they poop / fertilize your soil ..... in addition they will process your organic meal fertilizer that’s already present in the soil and turn that into super fertilizer for your plants .....

So I’m new to this indoor garden thing but outdoors my recipe for successful vegetable grows was always mulch, mulch and more mulch - I never tilled my garden just layers and layers of mulch - with the mulch came the worms and more mulch more worms .....grew some kick butt tomatoes and lots of them so I’m going back to mulch and worms .....

Wow that’s amazing! Thanks for taking the time to answer. Those veggies look delicious. I’d like to try worms sometime I think. Have to admit though that the wiggly things creep me out a bit, but I can probably get over it if it means healthier plants.

I’m trying organic this grow for the first time, but everything was premade - Soil, super soil and nutrients. I’m even using llama poop tea bags in my reservoir! My plants look amazing though and it’s been an easy grow - no deficiencies or burns. I’m very happy with the results.

looking great  have been doing a bit of homework on composting/worm farms, mostly utube at this stage :coffee: @Eyes on Fire :pass:and @hecno :pass: big into organics :coffee:
good luck n keep er lit
:pighug:

Easy to start a bin - 10-15 gallon or larger smart pot will work ..... compost your vegetable waste ..... recommend you get red Wigglers to start ....... note of caution: worms from your yard will not work inside a worm container, you’ll need to invest in a few worms to get started- I say this so folks won’t think - ah I’ll get some dirt, vegetable waste, grass clippings and leaf matter stick in a smart pot add some worms and water and I’ll have castings, u can try but usually not successful as our garden worms burrow down deep unlike red worms that eat top waste matter ......

Bro MORE than HAPPY to help and keep doing what your doing, results count but if you wanna really get into know it takes about a year to make any worthwhile castings and you’ll need to invest in a few things to get it going but after more than worthwhile- people fought over my tomatoes when I’d bring in a flippin huge bagful to work and I can’t wait to sample my own smoke as it’s been over 30 years since I’ve had any killer smoke as I’ve been on a street weed diet but that’s going to change...... here’s a mouth watering pic, you CANNOT BUY these at the grocery store .... look at second pic top left at green tomatoes hanging there - I hope to duplicate this success inside - Imagine those being buds, Bud, hehe

Hey buddy. Nice goings on here dude. Only thing I could say is that autos in a 7 gallon pots, tend to be a waste.3 - 5 gallons is about right for an SSK.3-5 works. I have grown them a few times now.About the watering you might wanna invest in some quality Aloe flakes and/or a high end Castile Soap. works like a charm. I always go till I see it lightly trickling out the bottom into the drain pan then I stop.go smoke and 5 minute later or so come back and if the water is gone,I keep watering till it dont go away then ill drain it off the excess. perfect way for watering with organics imo. works like a dream.Water slow and let it soak in. thats usually the issue.that or dry pockets and thats why the Aloe Vera Flakes/castile soap with the viticulture styled wet n dry cycles. And its way common once the soil is heavy with water the plant will droop.its usually best to feed or water them just a bit before light on for the day ,OR just before they sleep and the RH aint too high. thats always been my experience.Happy harvesting broseph! hope this help you in the future. Any question s your welcome to hit me up. But @hecno tends to be around more than me these days so He would probably be keen to help a fellow Organic dude as well.

Worms ,worms ,worms . are bloody great , I use native soil worms - MrOldBoy , - not to many in the pots , about 6 big ones per pot . [18 liter ] as they tend to burrow down thru the soil they aerate the soil plus other benefits . I also water like Mr eyes and have found it the best way to do it . As you stated , soil takes time , mine are all 4 months and older . One thing worth doing is using bat Guano in the soil . When I pot up around 5 to 6 inches from the top I will sprinkle Guano [ the one with out Nitrogen ] over the dirt , then fill the rest of the pot . I am finding good results with doing this , as the plants age and there root systems grow bigger the hit the Guano and love it . -- Tip -- put the pellets in a coffee grinder and turn it into powder . and mate love your tomatoes .
and you are going to have some mighty fine smoke soon . :vibe:

Thanks bro ..... yea, I can nail the tomatoes - and you can’t buy them like them there ones, the nice one on the right is a Heirloom Rutgers, talk about taste, I sometimes will eat one straight out of the garden and talk about seventh heaven taste ..... then smoke the big one on a nice cool summer morning, get my hands back into the dirt and play - tough to beat how relaxed and laid back I get when I have the sun and hands in the dirt ..... sure be glad when the US gets its head out of its butt and legalizes, anyways that another subject, back to the thing we all, have in common, the grow .....

Bat Guano, yes powerful stuff and I like the idea of layering - hey bro, how’s about this idea, a nice thin ring of EWC around perimeter of pot, say 2” down or so and not to wide or thick just sharpie width around outside of pot? Ever tried that?
