Hello, I have been looking for the best light per dollar in the $200 range and have come up with the Optic 1 XL. This LED light has a PPFD of 549 when hung at 16.5" distance to canopy. and from my limited knowledge seems to be a great choice. Then again I'm just jumping back into growing and my knowledge is limited at this time. I would love to hear what you guys think and if there is something else i should be looking at in this price range. Thank you guys a million in advance, I appreciate it. -VonBraun
p.s. I will be starting my journey with a small 2x2 grow tent for a single autoflower.
Perfect Light for that Space ..... You will be happy with both light and results ..... I grow under Optic Lights and this Gokd Glue by Mephisto is growing under Optic 1XL and I use both Optic 1XL and the Optic 1 as corner lights in a larger tent setup .....
Couple other options to consider and you may like even more is the Electric Sky 180 .... It’s a two foot light that will not only give you better coverage but you will also be able to get light closer, Optic 1XL does have hot spot .....
Take a look at their PAR charts and it’s your choice .....
If you are going to do any kind of training and keep canopy even then the Electric Sky 180 would be my choice but if I want a Big Cola and ok outsides then the Optic maybe but .....
There s also a less talked about distance from canopy with light and here’s something to consider .... Light travels in waves and the more direct / closer the light source the less the light wave spreads thus a more direct wave is desired .....With the Electric Sky 180 your plants can almost touch the light without any bleaching or sunburn of with the Optic it has a Hot Spot right in the center and what will happen is you’ll need to keep that X distant from plant meaning the outside of the plant will suffer from lower light ..... In theory the technology does not work thus the ElectricSky 180 would be my choice but it’s your choice!

@briman can help - I’m considering a couple ES300 for a future space myself but the lights are a bit of an investment but payoff looks promising, check them out.

@mephisto Gold Glue under an Optic 1XL with side light from an Optic 4 ..... This is in a corner of a tent and is an “extra” plant running with it’s neighbor, Sam’s Crack who is directly under an Optic 4 .... 55 days old - 7 Gallon Pot with 19 Quarts LOS, balance drainage, compost and mulch
Optic 1XL works great in a corner area like this .... for a single plant I would seriously consider ES180, either way you won’t make a wrong choice, good luck.
Also check MiGro they have a nice light for that space but maybe litttle too much over budget and same issue as Optic .... Only Electic Sky will give you the most even light spread.
