Indoor Novice advice

Ohh righty, so a PPM meter is for EC instead of carbon monoxide? Do you guys think it'd be a good idea to invest in one?

I think many people have such a green thunb they can just look at their plants and know what they need. Those people don't need silly meters. I on the other hand relie on information from my meters.

I good example is a test that I am doing at the moment on what level of ferilizer level is best for start up nuits to get maximum groth. I have three identical tote tanks with identical lights. I got identical plants in them. The only diffenernce is the nuitrient levels. One tank is at 300 ppm (parts per million) the other is at 500 ppm and the last is at 700 ppm. How could I do such a test without my PPM meter? It would be life farting in the wind. Yes I am not the best grower in the world and I need my meters. Once I find the sweet spot I will adjust all the tanks to the ideal level. The meters allow us less talented growers the ability to tune in to the sweet spot and get good results.

I remember asking on this site what was the best PPM for seedlings to sex change and never got an answer so as many things are: I had to find out myself. You have to ask yourself if you want to dial in your grow or just let your sheets flap in the wind.

I recommend Hanna meters as well. I have the combo meter that they make. It measures everything; temp, ph, ppm, tds, ec. It's top of the line and $129. So worth it IMO. They also make a good one that is basically just like mine, but it's ph and temp only. Here is a link to it and the website is highly recommended too. Great selection, price and customer service.

I use a Kelway. It is a rugid dependable meter but it has to be kept clean so I rub it with a nonmetalic kitchen scrubby before I use it. If you use something metallic to clean it then it will read a false low reading. I may get a new probe type this year. How do you like the reading on your Hanna? Do you use the solution they sell to zero it in?

Nice combo, Nelson. What do you use for ph? Just curious.
