Indoor Novice advice

id avoid as that is a sealed maxibright, they are good till they go wrong, will last a year or 2 ,but as sealed if an ignitor goes or anything its throw it away,i have had 3 tho and they are ok, get a little hot, mine are 400w, ive blown 2. both sealed maxibrights
Alrighty thanks guys, think I've got it all sorted :] Just a final question. Is this the correct lighting set to buy? It's quite expensive, I'm not sure if it's over-priced? http://www.growsosimple.co.uk/hps-grow-light-complete-kit-250-watt/

Also is this timer a decent one to go with? http://www.growsosimple.co.uk/powerstar-1kw-contactor-1-way/

probably just complicating things but in a tent that small a cooltube might be a good idea, its a reflector that fits into your ducting so that your light is constantly air cooled. it lets you get the light closer to the plants or lets the plants get closer to it without burning so much. just a thought not really a helpful one.

it would basically give you a few more inches vertically.

Bgrt has a good point, cool tubes and air cooled reflectors do help immensely with temps. I have the same tent as you and can tell you for sure it's gonna be a struggle to get a cool tube or air cooled hood in there. Not much room to work with. I reviewed your fan and filter and think if you keep your tent in a cooler part of the house, like the basement and not the attic, it should be fine. Especially if you run A/C in the summer. if you do choose to run an air cooled setup make sure to set it up like this

filter----> fan---->cool tube/hood---->out the tent.

That way you don't suck smelly air in through any cracks in the hood, it makes everything after the fan have positive pressure. Does that make sense?

It makes sense, thank you :] I'd have to have a cheap cool tube though, I'm approaching the £400 mark on my set up once I've bought the lights. They're my only priority right now and it's really hard to decide which one I should buy and which one I shouldn't.

Take your time. Also, a bigger initial investment in your grow equipment ends up being much cheaper in the long run. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've low balled it on some questionable gear and ended up buying the quality product anyway when the cheap stuff broke. You're not just buying a quality light when you pay more, you're buying peace of mind.

Well said :] I wanted to buy the best for the biggest yields. I intend to be growing for a couple of years, depending on how well the grows actually go.

Well you can intend all you want, but you're about to embark on one hell of an addictive hobby. I can quit anything, anything but growing. It takes a few grows to catch your stride but stick with it! It's so damn rewarding to smoke bud you grew start to finish. Fewer things filled me with pride like that first mason jar of chem burnt barely made it across the finish line buds from my first plant. I think that was the first day I actually felt like a man.
