My first gardenia bloom. It's not much but I am pretty excited about it. Smells great too.

I got my Mom a Gardenia when I was a little stinker....7 or 8yrs old. It got quite big in the 10 years we lived there. When Mom and Dad moved. Mom wanted another, so when I was home on leave, I set her up with a new one. It was huge by the time she sold the home 20 years later. She wanted another when I moved her to my farm, but planted her a really nice rose garden instead.
I have the "Big Sister" of a Gardenia at my new home. It's a pretty good sized Magnolia. It's doubled its size in the past 5 years I've been here and using my organics.
edit.........The Magnolia survived the sub-zero temps and huge snow we had here at the first of the year.
I've never been around gardenias myself, but I did have a gardenia-scented lady friend years ago and still love the smell
Here's some more pics of my indoor garden.
Used a wire shelf and put lights on all 3 levels. Tried several methods of germination. The jiffy pellets were the easiest I think. Rapid rooters worked pretty good, but for seeds, I'd stick the the jiffy.
Everything but the lettuce was moved outdoors in rows and raised beds.

Seems it's not uncommon to have them not bloom after 1st time. After bloom care and a dormancy period is needed and that seems hit or miss. Some try for every other year...I got to read up on it more.Any Tips @Bill.de.Cat .....I have a neglected one that has never flowered.....?
Cool, I didn't know that was the terp there....it had a strong effect on me. Still does.Linalool @Jraven ....I'm attracted by linalool herb and flowers...and Linalool buds.......
