More excited about this than a full size Drake’s coffee cake

This is one of those moments where a highdea comes to life…… I present to you the direct to soil basement raised bed 2x2 tent

Beneath the stone in my basement is actually pretty nice soil

I built a 24”x24”x24”cedar box with a flat rim(I ended up stapling those plastic flaps up to reduce root obstruction)

after hoeing the native soil I filled the cedar box with 20 gallons of garden soil, 6 cuft of organic raised bed mix, 3 cuft of seafood compost and 2cuft of composted cow manure. All were blended and amended with azomite, Stonington blend plant food, bat guano, garden lime, and fish bone meal. All organic materials

I built the tent and placed it onto the raised bed, then stapled the perimeter of the bottom panel onto the cedar rim with t50 staples.

I then cut out the center of the bottom panel to access the soil, leaving about an inch of material overhanging the wood rim on all sides

Before planting the seed I added dynomyco

Then I put a small amount of seedling starter down and planted into that

Thanks @Marshydro too because I got the tent during one of their many killer sales (33$:eyebrows:) and it made chopping up a brand new tent seem more sensible

The skills and engineering cannabis growers display in growing spaces never stops to amaze me. You my Sir are a case in point. This is a sustainable volume of soil if managed correctly. Do you have a plan? Rhetorical question look what you just built .

What is the plan?

Impressive!

If you have anything to add on helping maintain it I’m all ears! Basic plan is to grow this plant out with rain water and top dressing only. Trying to recreate the success of the greenhouse with more control over temp and humidity to avoid the rot. I’m afraid after this grow it may have to go fallow for the winter with a cover crop and a 9w ge bulb, or I’ll try for lettuce and spinach. Then come spring we will be full swing again with another cannabis grow maybe with 4 plants shoved in.

That will grow 4 plants. I would get some worms. they may actually come from the basement soil as well. Just fallow any good top soil program and then after each grow refurbish the top 12 inches with Daz's formula or Go no till with lots of companion plants. If you go that way I would grow 1 plant at a time.

Germination
She was visible all day yesterday but didn’t unfurl until 8pm. Calling that day one and today day 2

she’s getting about 35DLI from a 100w panel running at 75% ~18” overhead. Kids collected me some worms yesterday too, so I crumbled some dried cannabis on the soil surface for them to eat(for the worms not the kids :crying: )
