Dutch Passion Newbie Lowish Cost Low Tech DP TD and ABB Grow

Lookin quite jungliscious in the Wombat!!! I use alot of additives, probably unnecessary ones, I know that SB recommends using a PK booster, I use big bud, Bud candy, overdrive, I have not grown without it , so I can't say what its like not using it.

looking good Wombat, you seem in control of it all !

Day 41

So, it's been a pretty fucked up week. My, we'll call her my domestic partner, we've lived together for 7 years, date off and on, etc. Over the last week she's been experiencing "potentially life threatening and permanent side affects" from an antibiotic(Levaquin) that you always hear about at the end of drug commercials. So my mind has been off the plants, I checked on them last night, found they were showing some nutrient burn, upon further investigation they had almost ran their reservoirs dry, spiking the ppm well north of 2000, or 3+EC. I changed their reservoirs, and added cal/mag as suggested by AB and cut the SensiZym in half at the suggestion of the guy that runs the grow store down the street. Things are otherwise going well with the grow, the blueberry is just about up to the light, I don't really have anyplace left to go, so I think I'm going to throw up a second light so the plants have light coming from both sides and the blueberry has headroom to grow without having a light above it, not to mention, I think moving the heat off to the sides will benefit the plants.

So, this weeks reservoirs:

4ML/L Connoisseur A
4ML/L Connoisseur B
1ML/L CaliMagic
1ML/L SensiZym

Putting the PPM at 1250 or 1.8EC

bad news about your partner jenkins. The medical world are often very quick to react if they hear of serious side effects, especially documented ones. Good luck with that, lets hope your plants will not be too demanding while you deal with the serious stuff. best wishes man

Leaves are looking a little canoed, what are the temps in there? Another light might complicate the prob...

The canoed leaves are mainly on the blueberry that's crowding the light, though there is some on the rest. I moved the light off to the side above the shorter plants, that seems to be helping with the canoeing. I cracked the window open to deal with the heat, but with just the one light I'm having trouble maintaining temperature due to it being insanely cold right now. A couple things I noticed while I was cleaning up after the burn issue, the TD that's been the largest all along isn't showing any bud growth, and the smallest one that I considered ditching earlier seems to be turning out to be the largest producer.

Day 47

Welcome to Day 47! Over the last couple days I've been working out various lighting, cooling, and space issues. I've moved 3 of the 4 plants out of the closet, more on that later. Removed my T5 that I had snuggled up against the side of the blueberry in previous updates and replaced it with a borrowed 1000w hps, which, after using, with the right reflector it might be optimal, but with just a wing reflector it doesn't seem like you can spread the light far enough to be worth the extra heat, especially in the summer when you can't just use outside air for cooling. With the addition of a window fan on running on medium I've been able to get the temps at the top of the canopy to stabilize around 75 degrees. Though I've had to add a timer to the fan to avoid over cooling during lights off.

Now, the one plant that's still in the closet, previously the most promising TD, has yet to start producing anything, I'm guessing it's not quite as auto as the others, so I've let it occupy the closet, keeping it watered and cutting it's feed back. My next grow is going to be 10 White Widow X The Ultimate(only available in regular), so I'm going to plant a G13 blueberry OG that I got from my last order to keep it company in the closet. Then once the other three are harvested I'm planning to plant the 10 seeds, to get my 12 plant max. Once they show sex I'll try to take cuttings from the TD and the blueberry to replace any males from the bunch of regular seeds.

The other three plants are doing reasonably well, still showing some canoeing from the overheating and discoloring from nutrient issues, but new growth is looking pretty good. They've been extremely hungry and thirsty, each drinking 1-2 gallons a day, after topping off reservoirs yesterday I found their ppm was down to the 7-900 range or 1-1.2ec, so I figured now was a good time to either add more food or do a reservoir change.

Today I changed the reservoirs on the 3 flowering plants with the following:

4ML/L Connoisseur A
4ML/L Connoisseur B
2ML/L Big Bud
1ML/L CaliMagic
1ML/L SensiZym

Putting the reservoirs at 1400ppm or 2.0EC

Now, what are your thoughts on pruning of leaves? One of the TD's is pretty much a bush with leaves so dense that nothing is penetrating the top of the canopy.

I have never trimmed the leaves, but on my current grow, I am trimming up the bottom, to help with the Air movement and to allow the plant to concentrate on the buds on the top, I would suggest that if you are going to do it, to go slow, and give a couple of days between trimming sessions.. Hope it all goes well wombat!!!

The end!

Sorry about disappearing for a while, dealing with health problems, mine and the roommates took my focus away from here. As it turns out, the medical profession has no answer to her ongoing issues from flouroquinoline toxicity, she has paranoia, anxiety, dizziness, memory issues, trouble controlling aggression. Much the same as you get on a bad marijuana trip, only it's constant for her. While we were trimming the first Think Different that we cut down early I noticed she was more relaxed and back to normal, this lasted until about 4pm the next day. We came home and trimmed the rest of the tiny dead plant and she had the same reaction, normal till mid afternoon the next day. After that she tried smoking, and vaporizing, and using wax, glycerin, amber, simpson oil, etc. She has asthma, so all options turned out to be too harsh for her. Ultimately she started eating 1/4 gram with each meal and before bed, which keeps her normal. In the beginning I started this so I could get a little pain relief and make some extra cash, I never expected what I grew would end up being the only thing that cures a loved ones reaction to an antibiotic.

So, here's a recap from the last couple months.

I ended up cutting down one of the TD's, while the other three thrived this one just started withering up and dying. I called friends, borrowed a ph meter, I tried flushing it, running it on straight ph'd water, giving it light ph'd nutrients. it didn't matter, nothing I did helped, once all the fan leaves were dead there was no sense in prolonging it's agony. It yielded about 20 grams and took forever to trim..

For the rest of the plants I didn't bother with ph or ppm measurements, I just went with the recommendations on the side of the bottles. I finished up changing reservoirs ever 2 weeks, topping off with ro + cal/mag

Advanced Nutrients PH Perfect Connoisseur A and B at 4ML/L
Bud Candy at 2ML/L
CaliMagik 1Ml/L
Big Bud at 2ML/L for the first reservoir of flower
Overdrive at 2ML/L for the last reservoir at week 5 of flower.

I continued to top off the reservoirs with RO water until the about half the leaves turned yellow. At that point I cleansed the roots with Final Phase, then placed them in straight RO water until the rest of the fan leaves were yellow.

Now, to the remaining three plants, the other think different that started flowering on time was the first to be harvested. After hanging in my closet for 6 days until the stems cracked I trimmed the buds from the stems and placed them in jars with boveda 62% packs to cure. Total this plant Yielded 182 grams.

The AutoBlueberry, which honestly I can't stand. Just the contact from trimming it gave me paranoia and a bad mood. Turns out I'm more of an AK guy. Dried and into the curing jars it yielded 177 grams.

The last Think Different, which apparently was the 100 day pheno ended up being a beautiful plant. Dried and into the jars it ended up at 261 grams.

I could have probably gotten more weight if I would have done a light trim like you see in pretty much every video on the internet, but the medical people I'm supplying demand pretty much every leaf visible be removed...days with tiny scissors.

Total I ended up with 620 grams off the three plants, with no ph measurements, and finishing with no ppm measurement in flower.

This stuff is going to have a long cure...as we're only allowed 12 plants per person and 2.5 ounces of finished product

Presently I'm growing a pack of 10 White Widow X The Ultimate, so far we're down 2 males to 8, hopefully it remains that way, though I'm sure my luck isn't that good. Also I have a G13 OG Blueberry, a CH9 Jack, Blimburn Orka(White Widow X Haze), and Blimburn Kabrales(Cheese). Running the same plan as last time, RO water and AN PH Perfect.

I Didn't take much as far as pics at the end of grow, but here's a couple, one is TD bud from one of the side branches freshly trimmed by the roommie, and the other is my super custom not big enough drying solution
