New Grower Newbie Autoflower Grow (autopot)

you should hydrate your coco now. Make sure you use about 50% strength nute water if you have bricks that you have to hydrate. Then put coco in the solo cups now. Pack it down a bit so when you transplant to the autopots the root ball will not break up on you. Make sure the coco is moist but not wet. And put the cups in the tent now to get them at tent temperature.

The key part for the next 10 days is DO NOT over water. Grab one of the cheap $10 moisture meters with skinny probe. That thing works great at telling you if your medium is too wet or too dry. I don't care what anyone says about those meters. They work great to help you understand where the moisture is at and will help you get thru the next 10 days with healthy seedlings. If you are a newbie you should use the meter for sure. If you already mastered watering then maybe you don't need the meter.

You will water from the top for the first couple of days. Like maybe 1oz of 50% strength water a day. Water around the outside of the cup, not directly over the hole where the seed is. Once the plant is nicely above ground, like after 3 days, you switch to watering from the bottom to promote root growth down to the bottom.
Can feed seedlings 50% strength with the gh series? That's usually around 600-800ppm from the manufacturer recs + whatever the tap water is.
Are they lower ppms than most other mutes I take it?

I was just thinking all nutes would be the same at half strength. If GH is stronger than average nutes then maybe 1/4 strength would be better. I just always use 1/2 strength when I start out in cups and never had a problem. Also I have read from Canna documentation that you want to precharge or prime your coco at 600 ppm. Or I think what they said was never water or hydrate coco with anything under 600 ppm.

Here are the GH flora nutes feed schedules. Not sure why recirculating has higher ppm than drain to waste?

Oh wow. The dtw rota is actually pretty good if you stick to the lower numbers. Best feed schedule I've seen by a long shot. Can tell it's actually been written by someone who grows weed. That's surprisingly unusual for nute companies lol. I generally use Dutch pro and there's is horrendous. Would fry anything you put in it.
I always advise 100ppm per week of veg then level off when you switch to bloom. Drop Base nuts to half at the same time you add the Pk booster then 2 weeks quarter strength while they pack on and 100ppm to flush for the last week.

The recirc schedule is what I'm used to seeing. Absolute nonsense that one.
Plant would need to be a 2 + pounder to need 1400ppm. Don't know how they get away with it. Especially considering that on a recirculating system you need significantly less of everythingm

Hi @EvilScotsman .. I am going to use the drain to waste schedule as a guide .. going to start at 1/4 strength though … I am a bit confused with the PPM readings .. I tested my water (I have to use tap for now with letting it sit for 24hrs for a few months then I am thinking of purchasing an RO system) I tested my water it came at 67 PPM. So would that be 167 PPM? and stay with that number through the whole grow?

EvilScotsman likes to keep it at 100ppm for each week. So the first week, no more than 100. The second week, no more than 200 etc.

You are growing in Autopots? Drain to waste is for soil. Use the recirculating schedule. Start at a quarter and work your way up.

Congratulations on germinating your ladies! Can’t wait to see a pic of them all set up! :cooldance:
