New Grower New to forum, first grow journal of first ever grow!

Are you seeing any triple leaves yet? Usually by then the roots are really well developed and you can water fully. A 3-gallon fabric pot with perlite really isn't all that big and you should be able to water safely after 1 week.

i am not seeing any triple leaves yet, at least i dont think so. the pics i posted in my original post is as far along as seed has come so far, ill be posting a pic daily. its just the two initial fan leaves growing, but can already see very tiny hint of next set starting to grow. i did decide to give it just over 1 litre of water just now, gave it slowly in circular motions around top of pot, no water drianed off at all, but figure it will moisten up some of the soil without water logging it. its funny how on a first grow even something like watering makes you paranoid, lol. i also turned up my house humidifier to boost the humidity a bit. but im sure just giving the pot some water will boost it. ill check the humidity when get off work in the morning.

Thanks to everyone whos viewed and chimed in on my grow so far, its nice to read such kind words and helpful advice. ive been reading up on lst, seems pretty straight forward. so once plant is large enough im going to train the main stem over 90 degrees or so, and let the bottoms grow up and try to keep it relativly short if possible. if my understanding is correct after bending main stem you just keep anything that grows up taller and keep training it for level canopy, shouldnt be to hard i hope. i figire i only have room for about 2 feet of vertical growth if i want to keep my light about a foot above colas later on. so i would think lst should have no problem keeping to that height if need be. (i hope). from what ive read you start lst once plant is tall enough that when you bend main stem over it should reach the imaginary side of pot? would this be correct?

Most important tip is to be patient. Don't water unless top soil is at least relatively dry. Around an inch or so. Once they grow up, you'll have plenty of chance to water them, I promise! If u can resist the urge to overwater, u will be rewarded with good root formation that can lead to a big healthy high yielding plant!

I face the opposite from you with high humidity. But you need high humidity during seedling stage. Try putting a wide surfaced bowl of water close to your seedling? Or a moist towel? Or a dome over them to keep moisture in? Last resort that costs more $ will be a humidifier.

Lights will need observation on your part. But for 1 plant, it seems u have more than enough lights. You dont need to worry if a certain plant likes this height but the other one is stressed out. You will be able to tell by how the leaves react and whether they are stretching too tall with node spacing. Really up to you to control, to a certain extent cos genetics play a part.

@Taipan has a tap water grow and the plant looks amazing! Go check his grow out and u will learn something for sure. I know i did!

Lastly, i am a newb just trying to help another newb out. I might not be qualified but my intentions are sincere. Hope you are cool with it bro!

Hey man all good, I welcome any feedback new grower old grower, we all started somewhere. I did give my plant just over a litre of water, but there was zero runoff and it wasn't enough to soak all the soil in the pot. The top soil was quite dry, so thought I'd give a little water. If anything it'll help boost the humidity. I also cranked up my house humidifying system so it will bring things up for sure. I have a few paper towels that I keep moist inside tent to help with humidity as well. The plant appears to be growing decently from what I can tell. As far as watering goes I won't have issues with watering schedule once plant grows a little more, as I've always let all my house plants dry out before feeding. I was just getting a little anxious since it's such a young seedling. I didn't want to over water, but also didn't want to underwater. So hopefully I struck a good balance giving it a light watering. I'll check on it this morning.

I'll be sure to check out that grow you mention.

And thanks again for the kind information. :)

can anyone tell me if afghan kush ryder can be topped? i now a lot of people say not to top an auto, but ive also heard of many people that have with great success. so if anyone is familiar with this strain and has any input, it would be greatly appreciated. im okay with doing lst on my plant, but honestly it would be a lot easier if i could just top it to help keep height down. I only havea 4 foot tall grow tent, and if i have to keep my light 12 inches minimum from plant during flowering i only have room for about 2 feet of vertical growth.

Never grown that strain, but I top everything because of height.

Should I top at 3rd or 4th node? Just wondering for when the time comes.

I do 5th but @autobeast swears by 4th. Up to you really. 4 will give you 6 to 8 colas, which is easier to tie down for LST.
