Hello all, I'm apologizing in advance for grammar and punctuation issues. English was never my strong suite. Anyway I'm new to this forum and new to using and growing, so i figured i would post up a little grow journal of sorts to perhaps gain some insight, tips, tricks, and overall get feedback on my progress. Its nice to see so many friendly and helpful people on here. So without further ado. lets start my grow journal. I am currently on day 5 of my grow since i planted my seed. I am growing one single afghan kush ryder auto femanized seed. i will list my grow setup below and attach some pics of how things are progressing so far. i welcome any comments others might have for me, good or bad. I also plan to update with a new pic daily as i track the grow.

My Setup:

2x2x4 grow tent
Viparspectra 300 watt (136 actual watts at wall) led reflector series grow light
100cfm 4 inch booster fan
6 inch mini clip fan
1x afghan kush ryder auto femanized seed
3 gallon fabric pot
premier brand potting soil (Canadian tire, all i could find without added nutrients)
miracle grow perlite (again all i could find but rinsed to try and remove some of the nutes they add)
sensi grow ph pefect A+B (still gotta get bloom nutes, thought A+B was grow and bloom) such a noob, lol.

I mixed up the potting soil with around a 1/3 perlite to try and lighten it up some more, my tent temp is sitting at 24c/75f, and my relative humidity is currently at 28% as of this morning. I am watering with straight tap water and i have not been ph testing it, i just have been leaving it out to evaporate off any chlorine and such. Plant hasnt taken a first watering yet aside from a little mist of water here and there, soil is getting dryer but still is damp when i dig down so not going to water yet. and my light height is currently sitting at roughly 22 inches or so above soil level. So far to me everything appears to be going well, but i honestly have nothing to base it on, so hoping you guys can give some feedback. im especially wondering if my led is at an okay height? should it maybe be lower/higher?
Anyway ill try and not make this any more long winded then it really is (i tend to be big on giving as much detail as possible), ill post up some pics, and wait to see if anyone comments. right now any feedback as to how things are looking would be great, even though its a very tiny plant, anything is better than nothing!. Thanks to all that read this and offer any words. :)

Oh also i just set a timer on my lights last night for a 20/4 cycle, i had been running 24 hours straight, but 20/4 is what seed manufacturer recommends. plus i feel it might be good to give the plant a little rest. but anyone thinks i should be running 24 hours straight please chime in on this.

Apologies for the purple colour in first couple pics, ill start turning light off for pics from now on.

If theres anything i've missed that anyone feels would be pertinent information, please let me know and ill start adding that info in future posts.

When I was using mass built led lights, I ran them around the clock, full spectrum. I'm on the Autocob train and now rest plants for 3 hours. Still learning just what the Autocobs can and can't do. Still testing.

I've grow quite a few Afghan Kush Ryders. It recently came back to my vaporizer rotation. I mostly use it for sleep.

My light distance from canopy when starting new seeds was 30" and dropped down from there depending on stretch.

this is my first time growing akr or any strain period. but i saw it recommended as a good beginners plant so thought id try it out, its supposed to have pretty heavy sedating effects. Since i as well primaraly use it for enhanced sleep. If I may ask, how tall did your akr usually get, Im just asking becasue my tent is only 4 feet tall, and once i factor in light height and pot height, im worried i mught not have enough vertical growth room. im expecting to have to do some light lst to the main stem, but would like to let my first plant just grow naturally if you think i have enough height room.?

how much did you usually yield from one of your akr?

Lastly: how does a person know if theit plant is stretching, is there a normal height a seedling should be, my seedling is about an inch tall right now and has been popped from soil for 3 days now

You will probably need to bend at some point. I use needle nose pliars wrapped with masking tape. Or you can lst. Just gently squeeze the cola until it is horizontal to the rest of the plant. The sizes of my previous Afghan Kush have been both tallish and short/fat. The one before my current stock was a little over 3 ounces. Doesn't mean you will grow less or more. Too many variable to predict a grow yield. White Widow is a good strain for the beginner.

Stretching: Watch the seedling to make sure it doesn't get tall and gangly looking. Check out the various photos on this site.

hi and welcome :pass:nice set up and kit, sounds like you got your head screwed on and have done a bit of research.
20/4,18/6,24/0 i run 19/5 just to be odd.if ambient temp is very low run 24/0 live in the dessert run 18/6 lights off during the heat of the day.see what suits.
a spare pot potted up with dry soil never watered sat in a corner somewhere is a good guide to what a light pot should feel like, has saved me from overwatering a few times.
looking good so far  keep posting and someone will keep you right.pop into live stoners if you get lost or need pointing the right way.

Congratulations on starting your first grow! I would feel more comfortable with a little bit higher humidity if I were in your shoes. Something above 40% but ideally between 40 and 60% for most of your grow.

yeah i was hoping for around the 40% range myself, but i just cant seem to get it up that high. i suppose im kind of lucky as it seems most people have trouble with humidity being too high. i thinik once i get to regular waterings and plant starts growing the humidity will probably start to climb up. but im definitly keeping an eye on it. if once regular watering starts humidity is still low then ill look into a humidifier or something. i could just turn off my booster fan, but i dont want to have stagnant air in the tent.

so, im curious. does anyone have an idea as to at what point i can start doing a full watering? ill be comming up on day 7. pot is getting pretty light, but ive just been gioving it little micro watering a dribble hear and there. im scared to drown the young roots doing a full watering when its so young.

Are you seeing any triple leaves yet? Usually by then the roots are really well developed and you can water fully. A 3-gallon fabric pot with perlite really isn't all that big and you should be able to water safely after 1 week.
