Greetings. Hope to get some advice before starting my next grow. I have both outdoor and some limited indoor growing experience with photo plants...no autos until now. This will be the last grow in my 2x2 tent with a 135W HLG QB LED since I have most of the gear to setup my new (larger) tent after this grow. This 135W light recently gave me almost 200 grams of WW-P which accounts for 40 grams of sugar trim and 160 grams of bud. I felt this was a nice yield with this QB light which is almost 1.5 grams per watt.

Will be using FF OF soil with Advanced Nutes which are new to me since I shifted from FF nutes. As my grow progresses, I'll be looking for advice about the AN nutes when the OF soil loses some of its nute charge. For at least the first month, I should be ok with the FF soil and no feeding early on.

My seeds are Northern Light Autos from ILGM. My biggest question going forward is how many plants should I try to grow in this 2x2 tent. Since I am not sure how big this NL-A will grow, my first reaction is one plant in a 5G pot. If any experienced Auto growers suggest that I may want to try 2 plants in smaller 3G fabric pots, I'll certainly take this advice to heart. I'll most likely do some light LST canopy manipulation rather than risk damaging the plant with topping. I also don't want to do SCROG since I plan to build a net for the new tent and not this 2x2.

Thanks for any help and suggestions.

Thank you @Jc420bigbud! The seeds for Northern Lights came from ILGM, and one thing I learned is that the phenotype of the plant I may get from these seeds is not really well defined. With that said, I figure I best play it conservatively and go with one plant in a 5G pot as you suggested. By not being sure if this plant will be small, or possibly much larger than I imagine, its better to have ample room in the tent for the sake of a decent yield. You make a good point...thank you.

Your plant looks awesome. Do you remember her age when you took the pic?

Howdy Stone, welcome to the journal party. FF is really hot, I'd consider cutting it with compost, coco, and/or perlite. In a 2x2 a 5 gallon pot with NL may get big. NL is a strong grower with big kolas. AN nutes are super easy to use. Many follow tangs schedule. I just cut the recipe in half and add strength when she looks hungry. NL is a really easy plant to grow, and your FF soil should be fine for it, but with other more sensitive strains, cut the mix down with stuff.

Here is an NL in my closet a few years back. The bin it's growing in is 36 inch by 24 inch. That gives you an idea of it's size. The first pic is right beginning to flower, the second pic is a a couple weeks before harvest. It got much taller and the buds filled out huge, I can't find a harvest pic.

That plant is 128 days from seed 48 days into flower seeds from growers choice. Ive heard n reat that northern lights strain can often run for a very long cycle.

Thanks for the feedback, @Rev. Green Genes. I'm careful with the hot FF OF, so I cut it 25% with perlite, then I add in a handful of coir to buffer the soil a bit more altho I am aware of the ph influence coir has. I have been successful with this soil by amending it as indicated. I'm anxious to try AN nutes since I hear they can give nice yields.

Speaking of nice yields...your NL was a beauty queen! NICE job of managing her canopy. I'll be hollering for training advice as we rock this thang!

Since you have limited indoor experience, I would suggest that you start with just one plant to see how that goes. With more experience you can add more pots or try a scrog grow. I don't think jamming a tent under the guise of limited experience is necessarily the way to go.

For sure, point well taken. To be honest, I've only grown one plant at a time in my small tent so far. These were photo Indica/Sativa hybrids, but they got pretty big so space got crowded with one plant. I have always been under the impression that auto plants are relatively small, so I am glad @Rev. Green Genes showed me a pic of a NLA for size reference. This changed my idea that an auto would only grow into a dwarf size. Not so according to what I am now discovering.

I'll LST the NLA plant for canopy management, but based on the size of the pic he posted, there is no way in the world I'd consider jamming two plants like that into my 2x2. When I move up into my 2x4...THEN I'll be doing 2 for sure.

Thanks for your input!!

fingers crossed you get the less than 100 day pheno :pass:
good luck n keep er lit.
