what do you mean by a passive opening for inbound airflow?? well once i get the light a exhaust fan and i can lower the temp down to around 30 degrees C then i should be sweet to re-plant seeds again??? well all i can do is try i guess... out of fast bud seeds or lowryder which one do u think would be the easiest for me?

By passive opening I mean a hole. :)

You need an intake just like your a/c has. You can't have air flow unless there is an intake and an exhaust. Plus, if your cab is in an a/c environment (inside your home), pulling the air conditioned air onto the cab will do wonders for your temp issue... perhaps eliminate it.

The Lowryder is supposed to be a pretty easy strain to grow. :peace:

my cab is in a little room in my house which stays cool even in summer. so your saying even though there is a hole for the exhaust fan to go into there should also be a random hole with nothing in it, just to let air in/out? bad luck thai buddha man lol not good..... man i must sound dumb but im only new to this and still learning... so please dont get angry lol.. im tryin...

oh ok i get you now hahaha... yeah there is roughly around a 3mm gab down the door cause im a hopeless builder but i will put some holes around the side or the back to make it nice... so they dont have to be real big holes? just enough for the air to come in.... with the exhaust fan i understand im meant to put it up the top cause heat rises lol (which i stuffed up on) so it can suck out so where do i position the fans to blow air in? 1 in the middle of the cabinet and one up top? or have 3 fans one down bottom and the middle and the top?

oh ok.... thanks so much thai buddha man, u have been so helpful... sorry for the million questions but i guess everyone does when they first start off. there is only one more question i have to finish off this topic (hopefully) is "how big do i make the holes in the bottom"? like the size of the top of a coke can? or bigger or smaller? golf ball size??? I so hope that all the stuff u have told me helps me get underway and towards suitable temps...

Sorry 'bout the keyboard TBM, but all I can afford to replace is the cup of coffee. :D

silent, the layout TBM gave you will bring your temps down. As far as the holes are concerned, the size of the hole is not real important. What is important is that there is enough intake to allow you to get full benefit from your exhaust fan... In other words, you do not want to impede the airflow. Pulling the cool air through will make a huge difference. Just drill your 1/4" holes, close together, down low on the cab, opposite of the exhaust fan. Then, just drill as many holes as it takes to get free air flow. More is better than not enough. :peace:

EDIT: OOPS! I meant 1" holes too. :D

oh ok... thanks so much fella's...all your info is sooooo helpful... well what i might do is change to a CMH bulb and putting an exhaust fan in and also holes and test the temp out before i put seeds in lol... would be the best idea i think. . . so am i aiming for around 30 degrees C is what im aiming for??? is that right? also when i cover the pot with plastic for a dome affect whilst the seed raises what should the temp under the plastic be?? any idea?

Around 30c is good. I don't germinate under direct light. I wait for the seedling to show, then I remove the plastic/dome and place it under the lights. My current grow, I placed 13 seeds. Of them, 12 germinated with temps about 25c. All are very healthy 3-4 weeks later. :peace:

joe dirt- what type of light do u use when u put the seed in the soil and under a dome/plastic? can i put it straight under the 400w cmh light once the seed is germinated? And thai buddha man i will just drill a couple of 1 inch holes around the bottom to let the air flow in a little.

Hey silent, how goes it?

Glad to see you took the advice and didn't go with the tent, I really think it'd of hindered your grow due to budget. The CMH is a nice cool light so you can put plants under it right away.

When the seed is in soil/dome, keep it out of direct light in a WARM (65-75F) place and make sure to knock off condensation and I even occasionally open it to let some air in.

Have you germinated yet?
