Most people use the paper towel method so they can see what's happening. I prefer to soak the seed in a small glass of water until it sinks... usually 12-24 hours. If it takes longer than that, stir the water a little and see if it sinks then.
After the seed sinks to the bottom, I place it in the rooter, pointed end down. I just barely push it into the rooter just enough to get the seed below ground level. Place in humidore, when the seedling pops, place rooter in soil medium under lights.
