hey all, sorry i never replyed i was off camping... "whatsgoodie"- i havent germinated yet cause im still waiting on the light and fan to come... and "whatsgoodie and joe dirt"- what light should i put them under whilst they are still seeds and in the dome? cause other forums i have read was to put them under light? thats the only thing im confused with now

I just germinated 12 seeds out of 13 (I drowned one) without having the seeds under any light until they broke ground. After they broke ground, I removed the domes and placed them under the lights... not too close (like TBM said). When I first place plants under my HPS, I have the light at about 2' away and bring it closer an inch a day until I get it to around 15". With a cmh, you may be able to go closer, idk. Just make sure you can put you hand, palm down, at canopy level without the top of your hand getting uncomfortable from heat.
I know there are people who germinate under light. I'm not one of them but, if it works for them, that's fine with me. I'm not the grow police. I do it the way I do it because it has worked very well for me. That doesn't mean it's the only way that works. But, germination is one of the few areas where things have always gone well for me.

oh ok, that sounds like a good idea i should try. So i can just put them in my cab with no lights on, under the plastic and wait until she breaks the surface then switch the light on? and also how do u germinate ur seeds?

Sorry for the delay...
Ideally, you would germinate in the rooters, on a plate or something that sits on something warm (like a cable/satellite receiver), with the plastic over them (in your makeshift humidome). When the seedling pops out of the rooter, then put it in your seedling medium under the lights... leaving the ones that have not popped in you makeshift humidome.

If you're only germinating one seed, yes. But, if it's more than one, they are not going to germinate at the same time. Some will pop1st or 2nd day, some the 3rd, and so on. So, I do not germinate in the cab.

You don't have to leave them in the dark... just not direct light.
When I say "rooter", there are jiffy pucks (which are ok but not my favorite) or rapid rooters or something similar.

i cant get those in australia..(i dont think). i can get jiffy pucks.. so when i germinate and put them into the soil, what do i do? do i put them under that cmh light or leave them in the cabnet with the door open to get a little light? what method do u use to germinate it?? soak in water or soak in paper?
