....Can you put a smaller watt bulb in a 400hps???????? If not I have 12-23 watt veg cfls, 8-40 watt flower cfl's, and one true 65 watt flower cfl. I can use those being they are not in use. Need someone to scetch out something, I have a hard time following when I read, if a diagram or pic is involved its easier, attention span doesnt stay very long being bipolar. And the inline duct fan from lowes is what I have to work with, I have a 6 inch and an 8 inch, I suppose I can get computer fans, just dont realy know how to make them work on AC voltage

The only way you can put a smaller wattage bulb in the ballast is if the ballast is dimmable...Otherwise, no you can't. But all those cfl's will work just fine...And, if your using cfl's, then as far as the fans go, all you'll need is a couple computer fans...

I hear ya with the bipolar. Me to man. Drawing is not my strength...

Wow thansk ripster, someone else told me I could, thank god you said something

Def glad u said something rip. I had told him I thought u could, but also mentioned I wasn't 100% sure about it as well... still haven't found the sketch homie. I.m sure u can get some better advice from people around here who have grown in bigger spots than a PC case. While your grow is still considered micro, its not small enough for me to give u proper advice. I do feel my intake and exhaust positions were dead on, but I have no way to help u with the filter issue... I don't run filters/scrubber's. Just a lot of plug in air freshners in my house.

No problem guys, just glad to help...:head:

There's also a ballast called a switchable ballast, but that still wont let you put a diff. size bulb in it. All it does is allows you to use either MH or HPS bulbs in the same unit. But you want the dimmable one. I just bought this one a week ago : http://www.greners.com/i/grow-light...-hps-mh-120-240v-multi-watt-and-dimmable.html
Waiting on a tent to put it in...

No Prob Micro;) Didnt remember who told me. And I was thinking of going with a 145cfm squirrel cage fan with my big scrubber. So this is what I was thinking, tell me what ya think because I have no clue. Was gonna take 7 inches at the very top close it off, put one exhaust hole in the center of ceiling thats connected to the dryer hose and fan. Goes through the filter, cleaned air goes into that top space and then have like 4 pc fans pushing air out the back of dresser. Dont know wether or not the PC fans will clear as much air as the squirrel cage is cleaning, what do you guys think. .....Also, would this led be better than 12 cfls in the dresser, I have 0 exp with LEDs....http://www.greners.com/i/grow-lights/led-brand/glow-panel-45.html and below is the fan I was thinking of getting

Ok, Im in the middle of gutting this dresser I have 15 deep 32 wide by 3ft high of actual grow space, theres 8 more inches in height but thats where the fans and filters are going. The fan Im getting is 146cfm, just wondering if anyone thinks I can get away with the 400hps in there. Now would you use the 6 inch 200cfm inline duct fan to evacuate the filtered air out the back of the dresser from the 8 inch area? If Im going with cfls would pc fans be enough to get rid of the air coming from the 146cfm fan and filter or they wont be strong enough to keep up with the air coming from the 146 fan with filter????? And for 6 plants whats the biggest square pots I can get away with??? And who has them the cheapest???

OK, I'll see what I can answer here...First off, if you can grow 6 plants in there, I'd be amazed. And I've been amazed before, so....But realistically, your looking at 4 max. I'd start out with 3 and see how it goes.
When I first started growing, I grew in 3 quart or 8'' pots. I now use on occasion like now, the 10'' pots. But I prefer the 14'' pots. Anyway, I got on a thing there. The 8'' pots would work great for you. And You can get them at Lowes or Home Depot or Walmart. Just look at some of my pics to see what type/shape they are...
400 watts of HPS would get hot I would think. You may want somebody else to chime in on that one.
As far as going with cfl's, I think that's your best choice in that space. With the computer fans, I don't think they would be able to keep up with the other one. Sorry, not much help on this huh?

Ripster, If the pots fit why would you say no for 6? Just curious

Hey bro.. Just stumbled on your thread..

I have a grow going on at the min, 400w inside a 8cubic foot corner cupboard, my only exhaust is a 83cfm pc fan, with 2 internal pc fans creating air movement. Iv found that a heat baffle or screen between light and plant is all I need, im currently using a silk screen as it still lets light through but creates a barrier. It does get hot above screen, but with the right positioning of fans below it is possible to keep temps close to right. Eventually I would like something like this..

I totally agree with ripster, unless your going to grow smaller autos, 6 is too much. I was going to do 2 and im so glad I didnt, my plant is a monster.. I spose its all to do with what strain you chose and method, you could grow one big mazar and scrog it, or 4-6 little autos, the choice is yours..

Have a look at my grow mate and see what ya think. Any questions I'll try my hardest to help..

Peace..

Well, let me explain...Yes, the pots may fit, but when the plants start maturing and growing in size, they will overtake the pots. Leaving you less and less space as they grow....

The last thing you want to do is crowd them. You'll want as much of the light as possible to get to the plants.
