Lighting My Platinum Adventure

 ...doll it up all nice and post at A-T's Stoner Eats thread! Besides, there much delish' porn awaiting you there-
...Huh! Spinach is dioecious... who knew?!

... *slobber* grilled peppers,...... yup, pepper lover dilemma, flavor vs pain! I love habanero's flavor, but the heat can be too fierce for me,... The most painful food I've had was a Vindaloo dish... oh man, the taste was sooooo very good and exotic, but the peppers (wonder what kind) were absolutely wearing my ass for a tophat! I had to shower after that meal .... I'm betting you'vre tried Shishito peppers on the grill? Not hot, an occasional warm one, but nice taste.. all basted in butter, grilled, caramelized,... :eyebrows:

Yeah a-trains thread always makes me either hungry or wanna cook something up. We ran longer at a party tonight than we wanted so i did cook but i will this weekend and show off the new greens.

I wonder if they were from the ghost chili line in that dish, they have that kick to them from what i understand. Have you ever heard of the Carolina Reaper? That thing made my face numb, it was insane there is nothing good about that kind of heat other than to say that its hot. Id love to grow them but from what i understand the have shitty germ rates and people who buy the seed always seem to not see that pheno that brought them the record for the hottest pepper. So i am not sure if they are just not stable yet from them or they are just like some breeders who just push shit out the door before its stable.

yup, that name rings a bell, along with another cross I saw on TV a couple years back,..forgot the name,--or maybe it was this one after all? It was a Joloki cross for sure! Stooooopid hot, like 4-5million scov' units or some such pointless number- Both these dipsticks actually took a nibble of the peppers right off the plant, on camera- :nono: fekking show-off fools! The reaction was stunning, I've never seen somebody go red and sweaty that fast, like seconds FD, crazy! They were dying by 1 minute,... I don't get the heat fascination, past a point,... my brothers friends' wife got into serious Thai food, and developed a true iron tongue, tolerating disturbing heat levels! She said it was like a drug effect at that point, the heat was all there was, flavor disappeared miles back- Why?? :crying: She actually "kicked the habit" and is now a normal human again,..mostly! .... I think you're right about the breeding, stability, and also, even jalapenos can carry rather variable amounts of heat... you know what i mean, I've had some that hardly barked at all, and others that made the pico de gallo almost too much! :haha:

I know that this isn't canna, but i still want to showcase anything i can with these lights. They have been solid units thus far and run great. Ill let the pics talk, things are in over drive in there and i have also been eating the spinach so thats why the look empty. Took a harvest yesterday for dinner and that was probably my 4th or 5th harvest on them.

Three pepper plants out of the 7 that made the cut. The rest were either mutant or runts, not bad out of 10. Now its on to structure and then pods and of course flavor and heat. The chosen ones will be crossed back to a jalapeno plant and then dried and ran again. This time i hope for more seed as i will make more than i did last time. Only one pod took and it only gave me 10 seeds but i only tried on a few. Its amazing to me, what you are looking at here is a hybrid that has never been grown before. These are the first of their kind and genetic makeup.

So there are the updates for now, once the spinach is done these peppers will go into the 7 gal pots to see the branching and the potential size.

Time for a little update, so the spinach is done and did really really well under the p300 lights. Was impressed with the rate of growth and the size of the actual leaf on them. They have been removed to make way for my final 4 selection of the new pepper cross. There were 10 seeds, 7 germinated, 4 were selected to make it to the final growth round, and it looks like there will only be one MAYBE 2 selected as the final plants to move on to the next round.

I have also started the line of jalapeno to BX to to bring in more of the structure of the jalapeno plant. As they are sturdier than the Tabasco plants structure.

Also the romaine is doing amazing in here and its nice to make a Caesar salad whenever i want too!!

Natural Light shot of the peppers that made it to final selection. Can see the romaine doing well here too.

Close up to the Primary plant for the next round.

Then here are the seedlings for the BX jalapeno line that they will be crossed to next. Also Keep a close eye on these there will be something special added to them soon. What you ask?? Just going to have to wait and see.

So i know its been a while since my last update but that does not mean that the test is not going down. There are some special genetics under these lights, these are the F1 jalapeno x tabasco plants. They are doing very well and are really bushy, no topping on them at this was all natural growth. Healthy and loving life and as you can see they are putting on flowers like no other. Also i typically have a lot of blossom drop under HPS, not the case here so far, so im still trying to hammer down if its the lights and the actual spectrum being delivered or soil composition meaning type, weight, and watering times.

Most people can grow a pepper plant but it takes light to make all those blossoms stick, if they dont have enough to support what is there they will drop them, same if they are over watered. Right now i havent had any drop and anything that is opening is producing a pepper pod.

Ah..but Think of how many people following a healthy organic lifestyle can grow all their own veggies or sprouts year round..:d5:..and competitive grow showers can plan their plants best condition for Competitions without having to rely on heated greenhouses if conditions take a dive..things like the Chelsea flower show will be revolutionised...:headbang:..everything in Peek condition..on time..

Cheers mate and thanks for the kind words means a lot to me as it always has.

I agree there should be a thread about chili breeding cause its completely different as far as how you intro the pollen and such.

I think that this is a good venture for platinumhitting bothmarkets. Im sure that they have thought about it already but they need good tests like this to show them off.
